Tech: Specifically download game resources! (Same way they're downloaded during loading)

Recommended Posts

A Simple Solution for:-

Fatal Errors

First Time Loading

Slow Loading

Repeated Errors/Fatal Errors

Since I joined Tanki I've seen this game isn't so stable. It lags, I cant spawn after dying, I cant kill enemies or pickup drops, I get a grey screen, I lag way too much, I cant load anything... blah blah blah...

At times we get fatal errors and at times they come SO frequently that we just decide to stop playing.

Tanki Support gave a solution - clear temp files and cache so the resources can be downloaded again.

This means that download files of every map you play after clearing cache and keep waiting for it to finish loading.

Everyone doesn't have a good internet connection... (LIKE ME -_- ) So at times it takes an eternity to finish loading!

I recently asked some friends to join the game but most of them get a fatal error very soon (like 2-3 days) and not all of them know how to clear the cache manually. This became their reason to quit. They didn't want to waste time on this and just left!

So there should be a separate button or link somewhere which downloads ALL cache/temp files of all maps, equipment, kits, garage, etc. the SAME way they're downloaded during loading.

And one more feature - it should specifically allow the player to choose which temp files to download. For example, a player never plays Skyscrapers Map and yet has to download the temp files for it. That won't be fair :P

So, the temp files will be downloaded the same way they are during loading (Developers... Your game is safe :P)
But will be downloaded before loading to prevent any annoying errors. This will easily solve many same problems of Tanki Support, New Players who face the problem for the first time and players with a slow and annoying internet connection.

Tanki Support, (Most new players email support and ask them how to fix the error...)

Hope you like the idea. It's a little technical but will benefit both support team and players.

- Thanks.

download the game & play?

Download game "RESOURCES" before playing, then play. Won't be a problem.

All the problems you are having are probably because of bad Internet connection.

Not just me, many are there :) Great and Easy solution for all!

Dude...........first of all Tanki Online is known to be a BROWSER BASED mmo game. Google it out if u dont know what it means.

Second of all.......If ur game is tooo laggy, try using

STANDALONE flash player. It doesnt use all the useless extensions that browsers use so it works pretty good on slow internet also.

Third of all........If u get high ping in Standalone too then go for Maxthon web browser, its amazing.

The problem is not browser but the fact that a simple Flash game can use up to 1GB of RAM.

At this point either the browser or standalone Flash player starts developing memory leaks.

Whenever I see a brown screen or fatal error it's because Flash is hogging 1GB or more of RAM.

Hazel-Rah knows about the problem and they still have not fixed it.

I can solve all fatal errors and brown screens by simply hitting "ESC" when I am killed. For some reason exiting out of full screen reduces memory usage and prevents crashes.

Im a tech geek... So, I'll explain that. When you go fullscreen your system initiates Direct3D/OpenGL Outputs (idk which one is on Tanki) and that in MOST cases speeds up the frames/second but as usual result in more resource usage.

An experiment is, play a song on Windows Media Player and put the "Visualization" to "bars&waves > Bars".

When seeing the visualization in windowed mode, it gives around 40 FPS but when fullscreen it gives pure 60 FPS.

Same way on other applications.

Well i dont know anything else coz my lappy is

4GB ram

Intel HD4000 fluctuating memory graphics card

Intel Core i3@2.4GHz

4MBPS broadband

maxthon browser

so it doesnt lag at all.....

You "HAVE TO" agree that if played on a Browser as compared to SFP, the SFP is MUCH better. A browser is ofcourse an additional memory usage, may it even be 16 KB.

Now that 80% of the problem of "No Link to EN Servers" is Solved, im ALWAYS using SFP ^_^

I built my own computer so please dont teach me -.-

G.SKiLL SNiPER 8 GB DDR3 @ 1866 MHz RAM.

Intel Core i5 2310K LGA1155 @ 3.4 GHz CPU.

ASUS Nvidia GTX 650 Ti BOOST 2GB GDDR5 DC2-OC Graphics Card.

15 MBPS HSD Dongle (Sadly it's fraud, works slow)

Standalone Flash Player.

60 FPS Forever ^_^

I know how it works - I have been working on solving the crashes for some time. It was watching resource usage that led me to notice the memory leakage.

The thing is that going full screen doesn't improve any aspect of game play for me in terms of FPS or latency, however, it is required for some reason so that Tanki can use mouse input.

For a game that sends 10MB of data every 15 minutes to use 1GB of RAM is astonishing. Even Minecraft won't hit 1GB until I enable 12-16 chunk rendering and start flying around in creative for some time.

It points to poor programming.
