Unless you have unlimited real money (which even I don't have), then I otherwise suggest you find out which gun/turret you are best at and which hull you are best at, then only upgrade and micro-upgrade those.

I also suggest you usually not micro-upgrade paints and try not to purchase every single type of paint.

You will notice that if you start with a lot of crystals that even with the suggestions I now gave you that you will end up with not many crystals.

Or you can do what you're doing but end up at the higher levels unable to even basically upgrade anything. Your choice :)
