Tanki Online Unity Version won't work in Google Chrome

As above versions of Google Chrome 4.2 they disabled the NPAPI Plugin which is required in order to run Unity Player you can see official announcement Chrome no longer support NPAPI Plugin or Google answer for NPAPI Plugin. You can run Tanki Online Unity Version on Mozilla Firefox, Opera Browser, Internet Explorer, and more if (there is any.)

If there is any such problems like 'Unity not supported in chrome' or anything like that, then the developers will provide Google Chrome users with a link of a downloadable client....it would add Unity support to the browser...similarly for the current Flash version...if chrome stops flash before Unity release, TO would provide a client for it..

It would let you continue playing TO in your old browser the same way you used to play it..;)...

Tankers don't need to worry....TO wouldn't disappoint while the Unity releases...

However, it is expected that Unity version shall not face any such hurdles... and even if it does, TO will be ready to cure it...B)

Not to worry, Unity 5 is targeting WebGL instead of NPAPI.

Which means, even if Chrome ends the support for NPAPI, Unity games can be built on WebGL without the need of having the plugin installed, and is compatible with any browser.

However, WebGL is a lightweight API. Therefore heavy games may have problems with it, and I believe Tanki is one of them...

WebGL: Web Graphics Library

NPAPI: Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface

Another option, as @BuriedSky mentioned, is for the developers to provide a downloadable client.

The developers don't even need to make one, because the Unity editor allows the user to convert the game into multiple formats.

Well, there are already clients for the flash version of TO.

It is, however, not recommended to use them due to account security issues.

It is highly unlikely that Chrome will end the support for Flash, because Flash is both PPAPI and NPAPI. PPAPI Flash is run by default, and Chrome supports PPAPI, so no worries.

You can also use Standalone Flash Player for playing TO. With that, no browser is needed ;)

It's available in Google Chrome also?

You mean WebGL?

Highlighted in green, you can manually enable/disable WebGL on Chrome. It is already in Chrome, no installation required.

For (1):

Security issues because they have not been officially offered by TO..

For (2):

Yes...but standalone will work only for the flash version...not in the unity one...

And with all that...we hope for the best...i am sure...the developers would take care of it..;)

Definitely! :d

It is, afterall, possible to create a standalone Unity client.
