how to effectively learn to play XP?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, i'm a player that nearly never played XP, and i'm not really a fan of it. i like played 20 games in my entire career.

I can use hornet/railgun combo effectively in normal maps where there are long range fight and lots of diversity in hulls and guns (example: sepurhov/kungur) wich i have m3 of both.

I've come to a point where i would like to try it, just for the sake of finding out why many players adore this format like a god and say XP is the best combo in the world...

But here comes the issue: i've already followed many guides here in the forum, the generalissimo handbook, the duel guide, video tutorials, but...

Every single game i join, even if i can always mantain highest DL/good score/good amount of flag captured, the chats fills up with those only words: Tommy noob / Tommy hy6! and stuff like that.

The extreme level of toxicity of the XP players drive me away from the format battles and i go back to my format-less ones i enjoy the most.

I'm forced forever in this endless loop, or i will sooner or later be able to find out how to "enjoy" XP?

Also, is XP really a great and enjoyable format, or is only a "i feel pro cause i play xp" gamemode thing?

side note... will it get easier if i get wasp m3? it seems easier to drive and dodge shots with it.

I always follow the etiquette. join, wait for both teams to say ro... then start. if someone say cton i stop and such.

After playing another match after i posted the thread, i got the same result after i missed the flag capper once, and i lost my hopes. maybe i will try it next month when i will get wasp.

My actual view of XP: hard to learn, fast placed gamemode where everyone does not lose a single chanche to swag. also Extremely Toxic community.

Getting Wasp M3 can make you play better, but it requires A LOT of skill. It's works better than Hornet on maps like sandbox ;)

Well you said you're not really a fan of it. Then don't play XP.

Were you always a fan of tanki online since you were born? then why do you play it?

You are a really helpful person. too bad 3/4 of the XP community is like you.

That's just a 'standard' issue in most XP battles.

Just ignore and play on. If they insist that you should leave, then leave it and join another XP battle. However, if its a 100 flags battle and you're on the winning team with higher flags than your opponent team, you don't really need to leave the battle. No one can force you to leave the battle. No rule says that you are obliged to leave if one member of a team or the whole team requests you to leave - its your decision. Keep playing XP for some months and you'll automatically start playing well.

Also, watch YT videos and observe how the guy/gal plays. Note the minor details/movements they make. Try to apply the same when you're playing. Moreover, try to create your own tactics. :)

Wow , what a aggresive response.

When I was born , Tanki didn't exist yet. I didn't know of it , in fact , I didn't have a computer till I was 13.

I was a fan of it , but because of the bad updates it got worse , although I still play it once in a while.

that's funny , I'm not even part of the XP community. Get your facts straight.

Now don't act dumb. You said you're not a fan of XP , then don't play it. I'm not a fan of XP either , so I don't play it , and because clans are all about XP now I left my clan aswell.

Your turn.

I play XP because I love it, it's as simple as that. :d

You don't need to be a 'PRO' just to play XP, you just need to know how to enjoy it. ;)

BTW, I once played an unofficial XP/BP battle.

An enemy got shot down by me while he was taking our flag. After I returned our flag, he called me a NOOB.

A few minutes later, his teammate was calling him a NOOB because he didn't see OUR flag at THEIR base, and our flag was returned...

In the end, he kept saying sorry because he didn't see the flag and promptly left the battle. Throughout the event, I kept quiet.

The guy who called me a NOOB for shooting him, got called a NOOB for mislooking the flag...

i'm going to give xp a shot in the future, as an experiment i will turn the chat off. this should solve the main issue and let me focus on gameplay.

You just need a "good enough" reason to do it. The "good enough" reason is the kind that will completely persuade you and turn your focus into that direction.

For example, sometime ago, i came to XP because I was rewarded a 1 day pro pass, and found that I could earn more in XP battles than in normal battles.

After that, practice and enjoy your daily achievements. Automatically and naturally, you will be good.

The only thing stopping me is at some point, it needs team communication which my connection cannot afford and also I don't want to.

Don't play XP. XP is an inferior combo to use outside of XP Battles and Parkour.

If you want to be good at XP (or TO in general), play a different TPS/FPS for faster reaction time.

Hey tommy,

You and I couldn't be more different in terms of taste for battle formats. I fell in love with XP battles the instant I first played one -- around the rank . I had Hornet M1 and Rail M0, but it didn't matter -- XP gameplay simply fascinated me. I loved the fast pace and the unpredictable, varied gameplay. I loved being beaten by more skilled players, and trying to understand and learn the tactics they used against me. When I hit rank , I bought Hornet M2, Rail M2, and Fracture, allowing myself to play in real format battles. That was two months ago -- since then, I have spent practically zero time in non-XP battles.

It's great that you're interested in XP, and that you've found resources to help you learn it (Gissimo's handbook, video guides, etc.), but the truth is that these guides can't replace in-game experience. The best way to learn XP is to play as much of it as you can, and observe. Observe the way attacks form, and when they are most likely to succeed. Observe the way that other players exploit weaknesses in your position or in your mentality. Take in everything you see on the battlefield, and gradually apply it to your own game.

As for the players who tell you to leave just because you're less experienced playing XP -- just ignore them. Everybody on the battlefield is still learning, and it's foolish and selfish of them to try to make you leave just because you're earlier in the learning process. I used to get asked to leave all the time when I wound up with a not-so-good battle score. It still happens to me on occasion, mainly because I'm a lot lower level than the other players I battle with.

I'll send you a friend request in-game -- I'd love to play some XP with you and talk in-game if you're interested!

Oh, and one other bit of advice -- don't focus too much on your D/L. In XP battles, it's a very inaccurate representation of your level of play.

Usually if your d/l is very low(<0.5), the moment your team goes behind in the game statistics, you will be among the first to be blamed for your team's performance.

d/l is not a very good indication of how good or bad you are performing, since you might just be unlucky and be the guy who does all the first shots, however on average I would say that it is a good indication. So if that is your problem, then you should be working on your aim. What helped me when I began playing XP was playing in medium/long range maps, like kungur, barda and bridge.

Sometimes your d/l might be low but your score quite high. In that case usually your team mates will notice your low d/l but will avoid calling you out because of your high score. Overall you are doing great with the flags, but your aim is still quite off.

Sometimes your d/l is high but your score is low. In that case, you are probably too focused on killing your enemies instead of helping your mates capture flags while at the same time making it hard for your enemies to capture yours.

Overall the best combination is of course getting a high score and a good d/l. To achieve this in my opinion you have to play many battles. If you decide to join a battle full of high ranked players, then make sure you give it your best and at the same time focus on how the other players are moving, how they are hiding, when and from where they are shooting. Learn from them as they are most likely more experienced than you are. They will probably call you a noob, and sometimes ask you to leave the battle. In my opinion if you are honest with your intentions and are not in the battle just because it has a high fund or  because A_R_A_K_E_L_Y_A_N is playing and you want to take a screen shot with him, ignore the negative comments and stay.

Good luck and most importantly have fun!

I personally know some XP pros...Example: & and I know for a fact that these guys developed their skills playing a vast amount of PVPs / 1v1s. So what I would suggest is start my studying the combo, develop tactics, and play a few, if not many 1v1s and you'll be a XP superstar in no time.

You may ask one of your friends who you know , who yoy think is skilled at XP/BP ,and ask that person for tips. There is no wrong in asking tips from others :)

Or

You could watch some tutorials , let's plays , guides etc. Which can be found priorily in youtube.

These will surely help you , and without you even knowing , you will be skilled with the railgun hornet combination . All I can say is , good luck in the battlefield , keep your hopes up high and above all , have loads of fun ;)
