Shaft: A Dummy Guide

Hi tankers. Today i will be showing you the most effective and most powerful ways to use Shaft. I will also be teaching you about the pros and cons of this turret. Lets start!

Most of you know the basic qualities of shaft. Its M0 is unlocked at Master Corporal rank and has 1200 crystals on its price tag. If you are a beginner in the game, you might think, "Wow! this turret is so expensive!"

Actually, it is the third most expensive M0 weapon in the game, with Isida (1800) and Ricochet (1900). Now lets talk about why its so expensive. As most of you know (and again: beginners probably wont know this so i'm still sharing it with you), Shaft is the MOST POWERFUL turret in the game.

With an M0 Shaft you can destroy a wasp m0 or even wasp m1 with one shot. I don't know about wasp m2, since i haven't been to that rank yet. If you are lucky, you can still get a hornet m0 and possibly m1 with shaft, as well as hunter m0. All of these can be killed in one shot by shaft. I am speaking without micro upgrades.

Anyway, lets talk about how to use shaft. Shaft is usually meant for larger hulls, like titan and mammoth, but it is also effective on a viking, dictator, or possibly even hunter. You might notice that i didn't include hornet or wasp in shaft hulls. Why? you ask. because shaft is so strong, it can knock you over. Many times i have seen (and done) shaft fire their weapon and go a little bit into the air. All you need is a little lag or a Ricochet shot or two and twins shot and the wasp or even hornet hull will flip. Well, you might say, i've never had that happen. You're probably right. Most tankers know how to control their wasp or hornet very well. Not to boast but i do as well. But i still am not comfortable with wasp or hornet as a hull. After all, wasp and hornet are meant for trying to take the flag or capture the point, not go really fast and stop to shoot. :)

Moving on, let's talk about how to shoot shaft. Shaft is the only sniper gun, yet many tankers consider railgun as well. Why i think only shaft is a sniper gun is because it is the only gun that has a sniping mode quality. What's that?

Sniping mode is simple. When you are about to use shaft, just press space bar and hold down on space bar. This will bring you into the turret itself.  You will find a target on your screen. Without knowing it, there is a certain color line coming out of your turret while you are shooting. The line is the shaft's aiming laser. if you see a red line spanning the map while you are playing on blue team, it means it is from a different team.

I still don't understand, you say. Well, when a shaft is on team battles, the aiming laser changes color. If you are on  red team, your aiming laser will appear to be red. If you are on blue team, it happens to be blue. If  you are on Deathmatch, it will be plain old red, just to be convincing. The only reason i am talking about this is because you will know about how to stay away from shaft.

Let's go back about how to shoot. when your bulls-eye target appears on the screen, you will see everything in the space of your target. Tankers from your team, tankers from the other team, buildings, bushes, all that stuff. It will look just like while you are driving, only a little more compact and with some lines following it (bulls-eye target lines).

So when you are in sniping mode (when you hold down space bar), you will see a little bulls-eye target in the center of the big one. At the center of this bulls-eye target, there is a dot. That dot is where you will be shooting. Just let go of space bar whenever you feel like you have your target in front of you. Quick tip: Usually aim for only wasp and hornet hulls (doesn't matter the turret), but you can also attack tankers with medium or heavy hulls that have already been shot or are being shot.

Another mode is Arcade mode. Whew! you say. I was wondering if there was a way to shake off that pesky firebird or twins or short range weapon without having to wait this whole time for my shaft to reload.

Arcade mode is a mode where you only get one shot after you use sniping mode or the reloading bar is full. Its simple. Just press Space bar and let go. Arcade mode is not even twice as powerful as sniping mode, but you have a better chance at destroying short range turrets with hulls.

shaft M1, M2, and M3 are all very powerful weapons with the exact same qualities as shaft M0. Thank you for reading this Dummy topic and please post a reply or give me an idea if I missed anything. Good luck and have a great time using Shaft. Thank you :)
