Gold Box - Sound Warnings and Drop Spot Markers

Recommended Posts

I think the Gold Box sound warnings should be removed along with the drop spot markers. This would change the game completely. This would give everyone and anyone the opportunity to get a gold box. When gold falls as it is right now everyone runs for it getting all drugged up and ready to jump in the mosh pit just for a chance to get it. Some players are now so good at getting gold that they have the timing and positioning down to an art and get it almost every time. This creates mayhem and brings out some of the worst in players. A good majority of profanity, insults and accusation reports are due to players not getting the gold, being killed before or being killed while trying to get it. If you were to keep the gold boxes still random and even dropping in the same places but remove the sound warning and drop spot markers this would eliminate "some" of the hostility between players and balance out the playing field a little bit. This is just a thought and suggestion based on my observations while playing. Thank You.

You're right about the gold box bringing the worst in people.  Here's my story (if you wish to read it)

One time in a Rio battle, me (a Viking) and a Hornet Player were on a ledge preparing to jump for the gold box; by the end, I ended up jumping too early, so the Hornet player was able to hop on top of me and catch the gold.  Most appalling that time, though, was the players' surging boastfulness saying "yess" and "axaxxa" and EVEN saying "thank you viking player". Maybe I was taking it too personally, but I was mad that he rubbed his victory in my face.  Why would the gold catcher thank someone else for taking gold in the first place?!  After all, it was the gold catcher's timing and wits (and maybe luck) that got the gold, not me.  Had I not calmed myself down, I would have gone Hulk on something (and I would have hurt myself; I, despite my normally calm disposition, haven't felt this outraged in so long)

Then again, the gold box hunters would be outraged if the alarm and drop zone were removed.  In addition, if these changes were to happen, persistent gold hunters would probably mult more often.

If this happened...

I can imagine another topic about people saying that tanki is becoming worse...and then they give the reason that TO doesn't listen to their ideas...

Ideas regarding the removal of updates/reverting tanki to its previous versions are not accepted. How is this idea suppose to make gold catching easier? Let alone finding it.

This is not about making getting Gold Boxes easier to get. It's about diffusing the rage that a lot of players get before, during and after gold drops. It will also make it harder for players to make plans on how they are going to team up to get gold because they wouldn't know where it was going to drop leaving no time for there plan to work. Also for the players that do have the timing and positioning down pat to get gold most of the time it would not work anymore because they wouldn't be able to prepare themselves in a way to get it because they also wouldn't be warned before hand where it's going to drop. As for reverting to previous versions not all improvements are improvements. Before you comment on a post please read and understand the point to the post first.

You may have not been around to experience it, but this was actually in the game a few years ago. For a while, gold boxes would drop in random places and without any warning - only a notification of somebody taking it. The system was changed to its current state because it wasn't fun or exciting enough for the players. The reason gold boxes are so loved by players is because of those 30 seconds of adrenaline you get just before a gold box is about to drop - trying to find the spot, taking good position, staying alive and catching the box. Without any prior warning, those 30 seconds are gone and only those near the gold box get the chance to experience it. Although it does make the gold box fair for all players and it reduces the time spent not focusing on the gameplay, still the drawbacks outweigh the benefits and developers decided to keep those 30 seconds of adrenaline rush that everyone gets after the siren.

I'd say that the gold boxes are still fair for most players, because they drop in many places on a map, so if you're not that good at catching gold boxes, then you can play on larger maps and have a better chance of getting the gold, if you happen to find the drop spot. As for the more skilled "gold hunters" - it seems wrong to take away their chance at using their skill, so it's not going to happen.

I hope I explained it well enough. If you want to discuss it further - PM me.

Idea rejected. Closed.
