Let's discuss Tanki X parkour

The Unity version of Tanki Online is coming soon, and we already saw some footage from it and we will keep getting more info about it every week. Based on what we can see now, what do you think the future parkour will look like?

My personal opinion:

There are more buildings on the background of maps, especially in Rio:

So there will be more places to climb. Also the houses look much more detailed and have more different levels. If the roofs collision will be as good as the looks of the buildings, it will be much more fun to do parkour on these buildings.

About the physics - it looks like they are trying to keep it similar to the current version of the game, though little things can sometimes have a big effect on parkour. So this one is still a mystery. I expect some changes that will make these more realistic looking tanks also move a bit more realistically, but you never know how realistic they want to go... The game has to stay not too realistic to be fun.

One worrying thing is that the far houses on the background of maps will actually not be objects that you can collide with - but just another level of the background image. They once mentioned such an idea in the V-log. For example, the long bridge that starts at the edge of Silence and goes towards the skybox, is probably gonna be only a visual object that you can't collide with. Or maybe you will be able to collide only with the closer edge of it, until the edge of the house next to it, in which case it's fine.

Also there will be new heights to conquer even if the collision of roofs will not be very detailed, there were many tall buildings added to some maps. For example, the tall red house on top of Silence will be a nice place:

What are your assumptions and hopes regarding parkour in the upcoming Unity version of Tanki Online?

Some of those buildings look to be in the background, but what I hope for the most is for the anti-cheat system to be fixed so you can get on buildings, platforms, etc. without self destructing. I always liked a good sniper spot... :(

Because obviously more buildings in the background decoration is what everyone cares about ._.

I doubt they make the hitboxes more realistic, the levels of lag are enough as it is

If only they could try to reduce lag

One of the reasons they decided to move to Unity from Flash is that Unity is much better in terms of performance. As you can see in the videos, the graphics are much more detailed, just look at all the small moving parts of the turrets and hulls. There should be a nice improvement in performance in the Unity version.

In the 61st V-LOG we can see a video of tanks moving around with the new physics, they also mentioned that the roofs will be as detailed as they look! I've been waiting for this feature for so long... We will be able to use curved roofs as ramps, imagine what parkour on the roofs in Dusseldorf will be like! :D

Also the more detailed collision of tanks might be an awesome thing, if we will be able to connect tanks to each other using their wheels that are sticking out of the bottom of the tank... It might open up some awesome possibilities!

I personally can't wait for Unity version to be released, I think it will be much more fun in every part of the already existing game.  And ofc, the new physicist, roofs and everything...Can't wait!

Due to the additional graphics such as the small details, wont that make the game lag more? just like if you play with full graphics on the current Tanki Online

Not really... :)

You see, Unity game engine provides some functionalities that assist the developers in the process of optimization.

For example, Unity has the 'Performance Reporting' service, which runs the game and allocate parts of the game that are causing indecent gaming experience. The developers can then recompile the scripts and game + meta files to make the game operate smoother.

Unity Analytics allow the developers to check on the players behaviour. For ex., the maps created, the most preferred equipments, etc.

All I have to say is that Unity already has all these cool features implemented. The developers don't need to do as much as when they're working on Flash Tanki.

I believe Unity Tanki will contain less lags. But this is, of course, just a speculation. How well the game runs is dependent on the abilities and capabilities of the developers.

Can't wait for TO Unity actually. The first thing I will do is go make a map, and explore it. Like Kungur, Rio everything. Then the garage, and then....

i hope we can use our accounts for Tankionline on Tanki X so we don;t need to waste time leveling so u can get the things to parkour and i hope we could do like higher builds so it will be a challenge to parkour.
