WOOOW.........The term "Ladies first", is implying goodness and kindness towards a girl/woman. Geez.....I mean C'MON ! What kinda topic is this??? You would be better off going out on the streets and ask that question !!

I think the Dark-Rim deserves this...........

I have never heard of a term similar to ladies first implying goodness and kindness towards a boy/man.

It is a great giant pile of bullpoop

Women have no right above or under us,men

I think this "ladies first" appeared after the appearance of modern world,as before, women were treated like nothings, after people realised that is wrong, they made them feel like men, thus this "ladies first" appeared

But maybe i`m wrong whatever, anyway, this "ladies first" is stupid and I never gave a damn about it

I've never heard anybody say this other than as an insult to a man. I went on a date last night. I held the door open for her but didn't say anything.

"Ladies first" because it is the nice thing to do to let females go first. It's part of being gentlemen. It's good etiquette.

Also, chicks dig gentlemen.;)

Since when is it sexism to be courteous towards people of the opposite gender? I'm not sure I'm reducing my rights when I allow a person of the opposite gender to walk through a door before I do, lol. IMO this is a bit of a shallow interpretation of what's just intended to be a social nicety, one gender being selfless towards another doesn't diminish anyone's rights...

The Internet always seems to find a way to call everything sexist or racist, which kinda devalues the significance of discrimination when it actually does take place.

No no, it's not just courteous towards the opposite gender.

In studying the human social behavior, scientists have classified this as benevolent sexism.

Really? People like you, always nitpicking gives me headaches.

So what? Is it harming anyone? No. Does it make anyone feel bad? No. So what's the problem. It's a nice gesture. What's wrong with that? No one is being hurt by it.

If it was a simple "Nice gesture", Then the saying "ladies first" wouldnt exist. Think about "Thank you" and "Your welcome." Sure the woman might say thank you, but whats "thank you" compared to how polite you were to them? Its the smallest things that spark big things.

Suggesting that it is sexist is ridiculous.

I guess it depends on the circumstance

1, Facing a firing squad ... ladies first be a gentle  man? no i dont think so, you should do the decent thing

2, Open the door let her go first   .... be a gentle man  ? no you only want to look at her from behind

3, You made BBQ ladies first... be a gentle man ? no you want to make sure you dont get food poisoning

4, Getting on a bus / train ladies first.. be a gentle man? no you want other men to see the amazing woman your with so they are jealous

So your point is, every time man is a gentlmen he is doing that to watch ladies from behind or make them die of bullets or make them sick of food poisoning?

No comment of absurd, I am stoned

Small things can lead to big things. Not insignificant things. Holding a door open for someone isn't such a mind boggling task. If I decide to hold it and there's a female behind me, I'm not going to suddenly drop it. I'm going to let her pass before me since it's much simpler that way. I was already holding the door. I'd do the same for a guy. It doesn't matter who it is. (of course this is when it's just me and her. If it's a long line of people then whoever is first in line goes in)

It's just polite. It's a small little gesture. From what I've realized, females value those things more then males. Not saying that men don't, but women react to it more. I doubt anyone has the mentality of 'I'm going to hold let this girl past me first just because I want to see her butt and she'll think that I'm sexy?'

If doing a little task that makes a group of people a little happy more then another but I do it for both regardless is sexist and bad, then IDK.

Of course if you are already leaving and you opened the door you are not going to slam it on someones face. That's not ladies first, that's just common sense. Im talking about moving out of your way to do so.
