Is "ladies first" Sexist?

Many of you are probably aware of the famous saying "Ladies first." Is this sexist? In my opinion, yes. There is no reason a person of the opposite gender should have more rights than me. We are the same species, and are under the same laws. If I were to let a woman go in front of me, it would be because I am nice, not because of some sexist saying.

Since when is it sexism to be courteous towards people of the opposite gender? I'm not sure I'm reducing my rights when I allow a person of the opposite gender to walk through a door before I do, lol. IMO this is a bit of a shallow interpretation of what's just intended to be a social nicety, one gender being selfless towards another doesn't diminish anyone's rights...

 

The Internet always seems to find a way to call everything sexist or racist, which kinda devalues the significance of discrimination when it actually does take place.

It's not related to sexist always, sometimes it is, but respect is another reason. And by respect I don't mean that it's because of love ;always; but some people think that ladies are a bit weak, so they pave way. And what's wrong by letting a Lady doing something first?

u come to play a game about tanks, seriously why u guys get serious everywhere? i play video games to relax not talk about some saying being sexist or not. i dont know if u like this or not but this is not the right place for this discussion.

 

i personally have to live with my sister and mother and have gr8 respect for them, but do i think we should give first place to women? NO

even if u dont like it many women come to the top on their own hardwork not bcoz some guy said plz ladies first
