Was the old Gold Box drop mechanic better?

Recommended Posts

Last Tanker's Day there was an entirely different mechanic for dropping golds.  About a minute before a drop, the notification would appear.  The actual dropping time took was two to three seconds, and in some maps up to eight.   Also no symbol was displayed on the ground.  There were only a few drop zones that were picked by random to drop the gold in.

Now the notification appears 30 seconds before the drop.  The drop locations are more varied, but are clearly marked. The gold box falls for about nine seconds.

So, do you think that you like the old mechanics, or the current ones?

#OldWasBest

There was also less laggers, as making yourself lag was pointless because it may not of even fallen near you. Now players lag to get on top of all.

Current one.

The gold box time was carefully adjusted to be fair for all players. As I said many times before - with the 30 seconds delay (and 10 seconds falling time) the chances of catching a gold box are balanced:
  • Players with heavy hulls won't be able to go around the whole map in 30 seconds, but if they do find the gold drop location they are very likely to catch the gold box as they won't be killed or pushed from underneath it.
  • Players with light hulls will almost always have enough time to find the gold box drop location due to high speed, but are unlikely to catch the gold as they can be easily killed/pushed.
  • Inexperienced players have a better chance of catching a gold box than before, because sometimes the gold drops in a remote locations where any player can find it and take it, regardless of their skill. Although their gold boxes will be rare because there are more drop locations near the centre. If you don't have much luck catching golds in the middle of a large pile-up, then you are better of playing on large maps and when a gold box drops - go around the outside. You might be lucky to be the only one to discover the gold box in the corner of a map.
  • Experienced gold box hunters can try their luck by going in the centre in the middle of a pile-up, as they know how to catch golds and are likely to get them, but they won't always get gold boxes due to a large number of drop locations.
  • Players, who are defending the base, are still able to catch golds in case the gold box drops on the base, so they don't have to leave the base and abandon defense

I totally agree to this ;)

The time for gold on large maps is still too short for heavy hulls.

For me the best idea is:

- gold fall 3 second after notification,

- symbol is displayed,

- drop zones are different like now - it can fall in the middle, in both bases.

Although I acknowledge the fairness of the new system, the old system was BY FAR a lot more fun.  That is a fact.

Fairness does not always make fun ;)

I like current one because 30 seconds is enought time to self-destruct, (which makes possible to activate supplies at any time) and you still have enough time to get on gold box mark.

Personally, I think the old system was more fun, if only because the supply layout was different.  I loved being able to have all supplies active at the same time, and also with the fact that activating a health kit didn't guarantee your survival.  Much more exciting.  Although I guess now that I have a Pro pass I can give those a shoot.  XP/BP golds are fun in the new system too.

That^^^^^^^^

I used to love the randomness in the time and location of the drop, how you have to know the map by heart, to know all the spots and pick one with the most likelyness to drop and the place the has the most drop zones, man, they were good times
