Bought a kit, but...?

My rank doesn't allow me to have an M2 turret, but I was allowed to buy the kit.  

 

I'd certainly micro-upgraded my M1, but the M2 doesn't seem much better than I already had if at all.

 

Is this because of my rank or I just expected too much?

Did you mean that you have a M1 turret that was MUed up to M2, but when you buy the kit, it doesn't reduce the price?

If so, then the price does not gets reduced....kits are designed that ways...if you buy the kit, you have to pay the full kit price, or else buy individual items...

If you upgraded your M1 a lot, then it will be very similar to M2, so you will not feel the difference. An M1 with 75% micro upgrades is almost the same as M2, while 100% MU is exactly the same as a basic M2. Answering your question - yes, you expected too much, but you can always micro-upgrade your M2 to make it closer to M3.
