[Issue 42] Why a 40% Off Sale is Better than 50% Off

 Share

Recommended Posts

Sorry to see so many bruises over an article. Guys, take some of that motion out of E-motion - in both posts and articles.

For example: Why a 40% sale is better than a 50% - Logically thinking, most tankers would have barely saved up enough crystals for their stuff predicting a 50% sale, and would fall short by just a little when it turns out to be 40% instead. Result (assuming you got what you wanted at 40%) is, you'll have less competition in battles fighting off guys who bought the same stuff as you - basically that 'batch' of tanki players sharing your rank curve. It's an advantage when the stuff you use isn't common. You'll end up making up for the 10% difference faster than in the scenario where everyone bought new stuff and got that much harder to kill...

Keep it positive!

The evidence provided here leads me to believe that they did not ignore you.

The apology should come from the tankers who continued to scream, flame, and troll even after the explanation was given and repeated.

was i one of those tankers? if so apologies if not, then i'm still sorry, cause i probably did something stupid in the last little while.

I Still Would say 50% Is better in my opinion.

No .. they introduced Xt this time, they can't do all at once, no one even thought of that,  you can't have all good things.  Or else you people wouldn't have XT.

I've received a lot of PMs in response to this topic, and I am finding one common denominator in each of them:

An entitlement mentality.

Ever seen that kid in the checkout line who screams at his mother for not giving him that candy bar?

You seem entirely uninformed.

True.

This topic is actually insulting us. Well done on writing another pointless topic!

Uninformed and insulting = states the facts and you know you can't refute them?  ^_^

The lack of a MU sale was what really killed me.

This is something that doesn't affect me, as I don't microupgrade, but I can understand why this would be frustrating. MUs are so expensive!

I'm waiting to buy my first M3 before I MU. Doing so to an M2 is pointless.

Hehe, mate, you're so funny. Meliora is totally right. You are uninformed.

I'd like to point out that it'd be nice to see some constructive criticism here - because there is a case to be made against the economic analysis Stratus went into here. Unconstructive feedback...

...such as the above really isn't helpful; and whilst being a good short-and-snappy way to pull in the upvotes from anyone else who disagrees with Stratus, can unfortunately can be quite fairly dismissed without meriting any response.

Very well said, I think you deserve not one, but two cookies for that. :D

No one gets it, do they? It is life, and we should be ashamed that someone had to come up front and write this. Who started the rumor it was 50 off. Don't assume things, I like Tanki, but I am just a kid. I refute your pay up to play statement, because even though Tanki is part of my life, it isn't worth the money that should be donated to that poor baby in the article. If anything, after reading all your posts, Semyon would probably have just went and dived of a cliff. He does so much for us, and you stupid couch potatoes get Fs in school and then a reward is

10 percent less than what you expected. How rewarding, note the sarcasm. So be silent if you have nothing nice to say, and Semyon, I hope you read this,as well as every other developer, because you make it special, and continue it. Any sale is good, and you grubbers must get what you get, without throwing a fit.

In my opinion, if you like an article, say something nice, if you don't, don't say anything at all. (Note: That rule doesn't apply to Tanki's updates :P)

HAHAHA, so true :P

I'd like to point out that it'd be nice to see some constructive criticism here - because there is a case to be made against the economic analysis Stratus went into here.

And as I scroll through the comments, I am finding a common denominator: emotions and no facts.

I'd also like to point out that it'd be nice to see some constructive criticism here. If I'm wrong, prove it. Responding "Oh you horrible pony you are so insulting and mean and arrogant and nasty and I really don't like you!" is an emotional knee-jerk reaction to me making the heretical suggestion that YOU. ARE. FALLIBLE. It accomplishes nothing more than making you look like the aforementioned kid in the checkout line.

If you can provide a list of actual, objective facts that refute my article's fundamental statement: "Tanki made a wise decision when they set the sale at 40% off rather than 50% off", then do so. I am honestly interested in seeing that list, because I'd like to know how my assessment of Tanki's economy and its role in world economy is incorrect.

This article is brilliant, Stratus is right about the 40% sale instead of 50%, as Semyon said, it will ruin Tanki economy, you guys just care about 50% cause there was never a 40% sale before in few years, I guess...

Brilliant article Stratus :)

OK. I read the whole article. I read all the comments. I do think the whole saving the economy thing is right. BUT, I did downvote the tankers day post. I think that they should not have let players hopes rise when they knew they couldnt supply what those players were expecting. I also think @sonofchrysalis3 article was insulting. I do have a job and i dont spend all my time on this game (notice my rank), yet i felt that you were a jerk acting like we shouldnt have a negative opinion about this and insulting us about our lives which u know nothing about.  I live in America so maybe thats why I think we should be allowed to say what we think(free speech). Maybe u sit on a couch in communist china and have ur mom feed u but IDK

P.S. Im not bashing the Chinese just giving an example

So, why must we all provide, calm, nice-ified 'constructive criticism' to a mean, harsh, insulting article?

Write harsh article, get harsh feedback. Nothing wrong with that.

Dear sonofchrysalis3

First of all, why you talk like we all were a bounch of dumb children?

Then, you talk about expenses, taxes and so on ... do you know about wages in Russia, Malta or Asia? Do you know about taxes in those countries? Do you know coding costs in Asia or India?

And ... do you know why I ask you about that?

If you made some calculations (I did on published data), you would have come with quite huge Tanki (read Alternativa Platform) revenues! Which is good and appropriate itself ... any good company with a good idea deserve to earn millions!

But turning every Tanki decision in a "poor guys they need some food on the table" is definitely unappropriate!

Also, selling power in a free-to-play game is the worst thing to do when it creates heavy game unbalance. You say "you play for free" ... NO, in the actual tanki you only loose for free. And here we come ... a free-to-loose and pay-to-win game!

What Tanki is doing now with drugs, kits and premium is just applied greed! Some results are already here (from 150k to 80k daily players) and the conclusion will come soon!

Nice story, compliments for writing (is written very well), but I disagree with the concept!

This story makes the players who cry foul against the 40% sale are whiners, misers & probably evil doers while Developers are being the saints.

#perfectlogic

Brace yourselves for Halloween sales! Same uproar will happen again.
