[Issue 42] Why a 40% Off Sale is Better than 50% Off

 Share

Recommended Posts

Personally, I dont want to take anyones side, as this applies to both. Im not a lawyer, Im a kid but I still make a valid point.

1998 Human Rights Act Art.10 (Extract)

1. "Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions, and to recieve and impart information and ideas without interference by... authority."

As you can see, freedom of expression is not only vital, its the law. I personally dont see any problem with a 40% discount, and as you can see, I am allowed to have that opinion. So please tankers, dont argue as it violates Tanki's laws ("unconstuctive critisism") and it spams the forums.

Rather ironically, Tanki then has to spend money debugging, deleting etc. comments and then cant afford discounts; then you moan 24/7 and it's back to square one. If you cant refute these points, then I'm sorry to say you just got owned by a child.  :P

P.S: I wanted to be a reporter because of my experience (See when i registered.) but I dont have a high enough rank and I dont have Skype.

PPS : If you want me to look at an article, Im all ears.

Finally, to all the haters feeling frustrated by this post... You just got rekt people!

I would write a long rant but it appears my work has been done for me.

This article just emphasizes the arrogance and naivety displayed in nearly all of Chrysalis's articles. His articles from before he was accepted as a reporter were a world away from what I'm reading now. This also goes to show the growing alienation between staff members and regular players.

I can't begin to describe how bad this article is. The arguments used were atrocious, the logic unfounded, and the statements were insulting not to mention baseless. And the worst thing of all-- I actually agree with the idea that 40% isn't that big of a deal. But this article did the exact opposite of convincing me of this, and more.

Say goodbye to the last grains of respect that I once had for you.

And I didn't even notice the sale reduction, it was just how appallingly bad the article was that bothered me, didn't even care much about the sale, and the fact the other reporters came in here to try and back him up, just made the whole paper look worse.

While I'm busy talking about spelling, I might take time to say that you made quite a long runon sentence there  :).

While, yes, in fact, what I have created is a run-on sentence, this is not English class, and I do not claim to be an English professor, but, seeing as we are playing the "let's correct each others grammar" game, I have noticed you used the word "runon", which, in fact, is not a word at all, instead, the word run-on should have been used in its place, so, before you attempt to humiliate me with your off-topic grammar criticism, it might be worth taking the time to double-check your own posts, also, "I might take time to say" just seems off to me, but, seeing as you're the grammar genius, you tell me what's wrong with it.

Anyways that was off-topic, so to bring this back on-topic, article bad.

Lol, wasn't expecting that . I'm not a grammar genius, just a plain grammar nazi (yes I think there is a difference). Btw, I'm getting tired of all the whiny posts, so I think I'll keep playing this game. You put in two runons in that post (obviously intentionally though). The name you gave this game "let's correct each others grammar game", is technically wrong, as grammar has nothing to do with spelling, making your comment about runons irrelevant. I would suggest calling it the "let's correct each other game", and let others join in to.

Your turn  :)

Error count in my paragraph (at least what I could find):  at least three, maybe more.

Any other tankers who are reading this, please feel free to correct mine as well.

The author of this article slams sales and discusses how they ruin the economy, but, when he got offered a personal discount he took it right away:

2u6elp2.png

How dare we buy anything on sale, but, here's someone who gets crystals direct from Tanki and then turns around and buys something on sale!

You just can't make this up.

Can you spell hypocrisy?

Wait! That's to big of a sale maybe 26% is better for Tanki as that WON'T ruin the game economy or starve the developers to death! Oh my! hope the next article he writes in an apology to the loyal and hardworking players.

I've just read through the entirety of this topic and while I won't be commenting on the article itself I wish to say a few things.

Firstly, the comments in and tone of some of these replies are disgusting and I hope you're not like that irl.

Secondly, a few things caught my eye:

Short memory! Actually at big sales it was always at 50%. Also casual single items sales at 70% off !!!

Short Memory! Sales used to be 25% max, and we got 2/3 a year.

And now it's even worse --- 0% for Halloween, where as other years have discounts.

#PropagandaAtItsBest

"Other years" being 31% last year, 13% the two years before (almost nothing), and nothing for the years before that. Not exactly a tradition.

These guys (reporters) get paid 50,000 crystals per every article.

Of course, I'm not saying that they work for crystals, I just told you a fact. :)

It is not a fact when it's incorrect.

(Believe me, I know how many crystals you guys get per article on average, a very good reporter friend of mine has already broken that down to me).

Name and shame please.

Nothing more to be said.  Perhaps you'd like to give me a bit of your salary so I can cover my 10 percent like you did, mr.chrysalis?  :)

What a horrible article.  Exactly like the way Hazel talked about me.  As if you are the mature adult and I'm a kid with nothing to do except play tanki.

You think I am your kid???  I'm not your kid, I'm your customer.

The buyers fund you with money to enhance gameplay, not to ruin the game to make more money, understand?

Seems like as soon as some kid gets an avatar he just jumps on every update and praises it to the heavens and the skies, doing no research about the Russian crystal prices and European/American crystal prices...

and not only does he do that, he insults my personal character and the personal character of all players.

Disgraceful.  Pathetic.

Yo Sami, first of all, try and write original sentences, and not pull out phrases from your videos as you did with the text in italics.

Secondly, you're talking as if the buyers are big philanthropists and donating money for Tanki. What do you mean, enhance quality of gameplay? One buys crystals for their primary needs - ITEMS. If you couldn't purchase anything with the crystals you buy, why the hell are players 'wasting' their money?

You talk like Tanki exists to receive sums of money from their players, and then go down on their knees and thank them, deciding to do them some favours by enhancing gameplay.

You tell me, apart from what you call 'disgraceful updates,' how can Tanki enhance gameplay? Is it possible to do anything? Can Tanki bring in new turrets and hulls so easily? You say buyers invest to get better gameplay in return. Why would people buy crystals if they didn't have any need for it?

That's the point you missed - buyers don't 'buy' for advantages, they 'buy' for themselves - to fund their next purchase. They're not going to just let their purchase sit and rot, they're buying for a purpose - and that purpose is NOT to do business with Tanki.

I'm signing off here - you're plainly determined to hate the game.

We all think that this nub has gone corrupt, and if you can, prove me wrong.

As his admin I can guarantee that is not the case, if he was corrupt he would no longer be a reporter.

And stop with the petty insults, consider this a warning.

GEEZ the helpers getting mad now. I've seen quite a few good responses to this article. What I say is nobody should've written anything about the 40% sale because its obvious from the Tankers day page that it would just cause trouble. People were past the whole 40% thing then this article stirred it all up again. Also, if your trying to convince people they were wrong, this was probably the worst attempt I've seen. The helpers need to stop fighting and act like people we actually respect and just admit that sonofchrisalis' article wasnt the way to help.

Also people should stop insulting others grammar and spelling because for alot of people English isnt first language.

Determined to hate the game?  I'm still playing it, and might I add, I am understanding it for a while now.  I speak from past knowledge and experience, not blind hate and intolerance.

Explain to me, oh wise and all knowing major who receives crystals from Tanki, what do you know or care about game balance?  What with the arguments you are shoving at me, I'm going to have to conclude you don't care at all.

I mentioned many times solutions and my thoughts, and if I want to pull a sentence from my video, who's going to stop me?  :)

What kind of argument is saying "don't use words from your videos."?  This has nothing to do with it and is not of our concern.

Moving on to the main point.

Why are veterans leaving the game and nobody is replacing them?  Notice how the user numbers are dropping.  Did you even think this through?

If the imbalance of the game is weighted too much in favor of buyers, buying becomes like a hack, where buying achieves so much that the game becomes boring.  That is why veterans of the game and mods galore are leaving the game and stepping down from their positions.  They're dropping like flies now, wonderful.  The game isn't fun.  A free to play game inherently MUST have within itself a balance of the game.  Like for example, League of Legends does.

I'm a buyer, and I don't enjoy destroying noobs all day in silence drugs.  Even if somebody does, they won't forever. That's why I play full drug wars against other buyers, or try to takeover battles against drug clans.

What do you know about this, considering you only play normal battles against people with no experience or understanding of the most intricate team functions of this game?

Did you ever watch a drug war?  A light format game?  A medium format game? ... let alone even play in one.  Do you understand that these formats we have been training all of our careers on Tanki are dying or are dead now?  And that simply, there is no more high level gameplay anymore for generalissimos.

If you want the game to be balanced, you need to consider the game balance, and that everyone cares about the game balance, buyer or not.  The game is meant to be played for fun.  Nobody has fun forever hacking the game.

So how to solve it?  Either make drugs massively available to all by reducing the price, introduce proper sales and be far more transparent about what is going on with unity and updates...

OR...

Do more tournaments, so that buyers have something to do besides crush noobs all day.

Let's be honest here, I don't think 10 percent is a huge deal.

There are two problems.

1. Your incredibly rude and condescending attitude to the entire body of players that disagreed with the downgrade.

2. The lack of transparency and foresight that Tanki had to have not told us about this downgrade before, making us question their true motives regarding game balance towards buyers.  It's clearly as if they held off just so that you will buy the extra 10 percent of crystals.  Maybe you'll make 10 dollars per surprised player or so.

Such updates and lack of transparency are a cause of the current decline of this game.
