[Issue 42] Hating Updates: What's in it?

I really do tire of these pretentious and condescending articles talking down to players as if we have no other choice how to spend our free time.

 

All these updates? Makes as much sense as going to the local restaurant each week only to find out they replaced the silverware with shovels and pitchforks "just to shake things up a bit" or finding out that the steak that was on the menu has been replaced with Salisbury steak "because they are both made from beef."

 

It's one thing to come out with something "new" but calling something "new" by constantly making changes that the vast majority of players oppose is absurd.

 

I have little confidence the "new" Tanki will be any better than this one - it will be the same druggers, same mults, same raiders, same saboteurs that plague and infest most of the battles now - only difference will be that players will have prettier graphics and sounds to soothe them while they feel like thrusting their hands and fists through their screens!

It's a pity that many of the TO helpers lack Empathy. That's not the way business works and dealing with customers.

Whoa there, he never told you to quit playing, he was merely trying to hint that you're a bit too angry. Please don't take me the wrong way, but you're the one paying, and Tanki is not forcing those dollars from your wallet. If you're this angry about the decline in quality, don't invest, but rather, recall those good ol' times when your money was worth it.

 

Also, SIR, you say we insulted you? Well then, let me ask you, why is it that I feel your tone indicates that you consider yourself to constitute the upper echeleon of Tanki Online just because you're a 'paying' customer? It's not so, please, otherwise we all would have to buy Tanki Online.

 

Now, about that rather hurting line you said there - 'You would disappoint if you didn't talk down to us'. If you say we're insulting you, can you kindly stop insulting US? We're not here to brainwash you, each person interprets our article their own ways. And also, could you tell us what is sad and pathetic in his reply? He is merely trying to help you not waste a lot of money in repairing your computer screen that can otherwise be used to buy more crystals.

 

And also, it seems unfair to put the blame on two individuals for your decision to leave the game - you can always not read our articles and only look at the ones that 'suit your fancy' - remind me to tell the other reporters to write articles praising the greatness of buyers and why we should treat them like VIPs.

 

I've reached the end of my patience now. If you can write scathing remarks about us without thinking about what you write, I can write a scathing reply too. We can't stop you from leaving, but if you really are, kindly STOP BEHAVING LIKE AN IMMATURE PERSON AND DON'T LEAVE JUST BECAUSE WE WROTE AN ARTICLE IN WHICH YOU LOT ARE NOT PORTRAYED AS VIPs! Sure, it will be sad for anyone if they leave after a long time due to poor updates, but then, isn't this stretching it a bit too much?

 

And finally, let me tell you that you're free to speak your opinion of us - however, think for a while before you make hasty and unfounded accusations like this one - we don't do things like that, and we do interact with the players to know their opinions. Why else haven't you seen an article like this before? As reporters, it is our duty to present an issue from both sides of the coin. We've done the positive part before, and this was merely to encourage some positivity from the players.

 

Well, goodbye then, in two weeks, "that X is going to be closed for the last time", and you can take back those nice memories of a dilapidated, obsolete game and two disrespectful, high-and-mighty reporters who accelerated your decision.

This is why updates ruin the game:

 

 

Every new "update" brings more bugs to the table. More lag, more strange and bizarre behavior. Tanks self destructing for no reason. The last one is a particularly bad one that lots of people complain about. Yet still not fixed.

 

This is a new one that started with the update adding Premium accounts. All battles show in the list with reset battle timers, players in the round, but when you click on the battle it shows no players.

 

 

Here's another I reported to Hazel-Rah in July, and, he said they discovered the issue - but here it is October 26 and it's still not resolved:

 

 

Instead of adding yet more updates that players DO NOT WANT why can't they fix the bugs that break the game?

I still don't like some updates but the basics of the game are still the same. The game was much better imho pre rebalance.

No offense against TriNitroTroluene (as I played against him once), and by the way great article.I understand the negative response to the 40% sale was downright stupid. However, you are a bit behind of the times. The negative response to premium accounts was purely and completely justified by the players and especially the non buyers and the little buyers. The Vlog 64...or something, the premium accounts one, and the premium accounts update were very negatively received, along with the change in the forum feedback mechanism were very negatively received, and not without reason. Only when the Tanki staff give proper responses to non buyers and not stereotypical answers is when the players will listen .

Not quite with all updates; some changes include the removal of items. TO has now taken out all the experience passes. Only premium users get extra xp. This is a shockingly bad decision; the game will now be favoured towards the premium account users, and other people will struggle. I wanted to be Major before Christmas, now I probably won't make it, since my pass will run out in about ten days. Firebird M2 is disappearing from my sights...

 

 

Unless I buy Firebird full price.

Of course, the new Unity version will be far worse because the raiders/mults/trolls have already figured out ways to beat the system,

so it will start off bad. After a fannish rush into the game, the owners will quickly sell it for a profit before it rather rapidly "tanks" (fails)...I give it six months, tops.

I mean, all the bells and whistles in the world can't keep paying players when they discover

that they are getting "gamed" by devs and other players.

 

I trust you mean that "thrusting your hands through the screen" means you want to THROTTLE someone who deserves it.

a ) the cheaters and mults

b ) the trolls on your team

I tried to say that, but I kept choking myself. :unsure: Change sucks. Take it from someone who has seen it kill sites like strychnine poisoning. In trying to attract new players, you alienate your existing players and screw up your programs.
