Cheating

  1. 1. Do you think self-destructing to gain health in a no-supply/drops 1v1 is cheating? In other words, do you think it should be allowed/tolerated?

Hey guys so recently I had a 1v1 XP match with another player (7 flags, no supplies, no drops) and he beat me 7-4 first round. We do a second round, and I'm winning 6-5. Here's where it changes:

We're both full health, and I drive into his base. He hits me once. I hit him once so now he's one shot. He kills me. Then for the first time in the round, he self-destructs. He was perfectly fine (He wasn't flipped or anything; he could drive and shoot). Guess why? He self-destructs to gain health so he is once again two shots. If he did not self-destruct, I would have won 7-5. However, I got mad at him for cheating and left at 6-5. I didn't want the score to be altered because of his stunt. I wanted the score to be what it deserved to be.

From my understanding of XP rules (correct me if I'm wrong or missed something), you start by saying "go", you can start when the teams have an even number of players, you stop when the teams become uneven or someone is AFK, MU'es off, and you use proper XP combo (M2 Hornets must have 20% Railgun protection paint, M3 Hornets cannot have any Railgun protection).

Additionally, the purpose of turning off supplies and drops is so that nobody gets an advantage and in my case, so no one can use repair kits. The use of the self-destruct that I mentioned above is basically cheating, right? Because doing that to gain health is basically using a repair kit, which I specifically turned off supplies/drops for.

I already know some of you will say "It's a part of the game so no" or "It's a strategy/tactic". And yes, it is a part of the game, but it is not part of a proper XP match (based on my understanding of XP). And no, it is not a strategy. Anything you do is considered a strategy only if it complies with the rules. In this case, supplies and drops are turned off to prevent gaining health. So gaining health would be against the rules. Therefore it is not a strategy because it does not comply with the rules and anything that goes against the rules is cheating.

So my question for you guys is: In a situation like this, would self-destructing to gain health (not flipped by the opponent or anything) be considered cheating?

No, self-destructing to gain health is definitely not cheating. If it was cheating, it would have been made impossible. Self-destructing does return full health, but it leaves you at a disadvantage for the time it takes to respawn. Since you were full health again, you probably could have captured the last flag easily. And yes, you were right in saying "I already know some of you will say 'It's part of the game so no' or 'It's a strategy/tactic' " because, honestly, it really is a strategy/tactic, but a very risky one at that.

It's not cheating, but it's just rude.... It's like pretending to be hurt in football just so that your team gets an advantage.

It's not cheating but I see what this guy means.

Before I had to right equipment for XP/BP, I used M1 Railgun M2 hornet. I was in a duel, I was winning 5-2, blah blah blah. Then, the kid changed equipment. He put on M3 Hornet, M2 Railgun, Tundra. Talk about unfair right?

So, I always shot him first. Then he shot me, I shot him. He should be dead right at this moment, but no - he's using Tundra -_-

Then he shoots me. I die. I guess he presses delete and it counts down, 10 9 8 etc. He captures the flag, and explodes 1 second afterward. Why? His delete button. He self-destructed.

I take his flag now, muttering some extremely colorful language under my breath. He respawns, goes to my base at full health, needs to get shot 3 times to get destroyed and takes my hit, hits me, I hit him, he hits me. I die. He captures the flag and self-destructs.

Out of pure frustration I leave.

------

So there you have it, not really a cheat, but something extremely annoying.

How do you guys not see that it is cheating????

Cheating? You are playing in a normal xp/bp battle not a tournament so why does it matter?

It matters because bragging rights in the clan :P It also shows the clan your skill level.

-Edit-

BTW, self-destructing is certainly NOT a skill.

Self destruction takes 10 seconds, Instead of eye-balling him you should have went for the flag   :P

He self-destructed as I was respawning so by the time I would get to his base he would have been able to shoot me and since I suck at 1v1 he probably would have captured a flag and thus distorted the score from what it should have been, 7-5 (I win), not 7-6 (I win) or 6-7 (He wins).
