Automatic firing for Vulcan

 Share

Recommended Posts

As the title states, it will be another feature for the Vulcan turret.

To clarify, one with a Vulcan will be able to click / double click, (which ever is easier to program), space bar and the gun will do the rest until you click it again.

Truth be told, this isn't really to make it easier to use, but to give it another nice addition.

Alternatively, this could be added to other turrets or even most of them.

Well, that's your opinion. Maybe it should be added to every rapid-fire turret. And to reply to MAFIO's question, I don't know, but players can choose how they use the turret. It's not like I'm suggesting to change it completely to Auto-Fire.

Many players here seem to think that having more buttons and more options always makes the game cooler and more interesting. That's sometimes true, but often the case is that the extra features you suggest simply make the controls more difficult to remember and get used to, as a result making the game more difficult and less attractive to new players. This is what the developers are trying to avoid, which is why they made tank controls as simple as they could be.

I can see what hes saying. On some laptops, such as mine, only 2 buttons can be read at once, so when im using fire, i can only shoot and turret rotate or shoot and steer  or steer and turret rotate. If I could simply press space to start firing, i could make more advanced maneuvers, especially since I use wasp. And with vulcan, since there is a warmup, simply unpressing the spacebar is not as good of an option.

It would definitely be some getting used to, but I think it would be a good addition to the control mechanism

How exactly is being able to fire automatically without holding space ruining your ability to turn your turret according to your enemy? >_>

(Rhetorical Question)

My sister's laptop also has the capability to recept only 2 buttons at once, so yes it's will have some use.

Other than that, you can also get a gaming keyboard or an anti-ghosting keyboard....that might prevent keyboard ghosting...;) Edited by BuriedSky

Not to criticize your opinion here but...

Why are they so concerned about simplicity when it comes to controls?

I can't seem to figure out the age demographic being the reason. (Take one look at the general chat for proof.) and the controls could easily be customizable...

I'd hit the yes button a million times if i could! A double tap for continuous firing, means your hand is free for other things while you're firing! Plus, it frees up your button usage...how some computers can only have two or three pressed at a time, the double click means you dont have to hold down the spacebar! You'll be able to drive, turn your tank and turret while the turret fires automatically! People here on Tanki dont think things through...they simply go YES or NO and that's it. All those no voters are people who didn't think clearly enough of this because I'm all for it!

But what's wrong with simply holding down space to fire?

Like MAF said, what's so hard about holding down space...? It's been like that since the beginning of Tanki and I hope it stays that way...

Don't really like the idea, sorry.

It hurts my Thumb

And there is no problem in adding an additional Feature think about it what if someone's Finger is fractured he cant use Vulcan or Twins then unless he has read Flexoo's Guide

But what's wrong with simply holding down space to fire?

You lose one slot of pushing button.

A player needs 4 button works at the same time to manage weapons like twins, vulcan, freeze etc.. to use it with its full power.(One for up/down, one for turning, one for turning the turret and the last one is space bar)

But many keyboards, especially ones which are not designed for games, allows you to use only 3 buttons at the same time. Either sacrificing one of turnings or pausing shooting...

This function would allow us to use weapons like twins and vulcan with full power, without expensive keyboards.

I am completely up for this idea.
