Details about the lag

For me, the lags have just started after the last server maintenance… Before that, I never experienced any sorts of lags…The worst condition of lags was experienced this Sunday…

 

 

What happens?

Just before the lag starts:

I get a ping spike of 999ping for 1-2 seconds (this is my indication that the lag is gonna start)

 

 

During the lag:

The ping reduces a bit, but still remains high (around 200-400). FPS continues to change, but remains good enough. Other tanks continue doing the same action they were doing just before lag, for example – someone would keep circling around, someone would just rotate turret, etc.

In CP battles – If you were at the CP, then you would continue to charge it even during lag (charge, not capture)…and the red/blue line that attaches you to the CP would not leave you. In CTF- you cannot drop/pick flag.

During the lag, you can go anywhere (even the self destruct zones), do anything, nothing responds…

 

 

After the lag:

You continue the battle from where you moved during lag, you are not killed or moved back to your old position. (If you went in a self destruct zone or jumped from skybox, then you self destruct now)…after that, everything continues as normal….the battle timer does not show any change…the ping reduces back to normal ping (for me – 80-150)..

That pretty much sums it up: it happens during a battle, at some point when many players are active. It is not a function of the individual's browser. I have been experiencing it since September 20, and everyone is telling me it's my problem...now it is Tanki's problem! There are several videos that were submitted that clearly shows it happening -- there is no warning, no common thread of circumstance...it just happens and you can't function well at all. Fortunately, it has only affected me in about 1/3 of my battles.

I have not made any changes to my setup in the last year so I can't think that it is something on my laptop. Has anyone else reported anything similar?

Yes, when the lags occur, there is a SPIKE in my CPU activity much higher than normal, and my network feed drops by 80%. Perhaps it is the result of some problem that sends information in a repeated or looped manner, so that you can't get a good static refresh of the battle scenario.

I am experiencing all the same symptoms as everyone else (started several days ago) - including not having a flashing cursor available to type my login details (as someone else mentioned) UNTIL I minimize then maximise again the login screen.

 

I know absolutely nothing about technical stuff, but what is really strange is that my partner has NO problems at all and he is on the same router (wired connection) in the same room!  We can be playing at the same time and I have all these problems and he doesn't.  If I'm playing on my own I still have all these problems, though occasionally I can get through a game without bugs. I have several accounts, including one via Mini Clip, and they all have the same issues.

 

Could this be a Flash issue? :unsure:

 

I have a moderately powerful newish gaming PC, he has a basic desktop - but he has Windows 10 (free upgrade from Windows 7) whereas I have Windows 8.1.  Don't know if that is relevant...

Initially, this 'server lag' wasn't faced my many players, so it appeared that it was your problem. But later, maybe due to some bug, the servers started lagging...

Having come to know about it, developers have taken a step forward to sort out the lag. And for myself, I see a considerable decrease in lag now (though some traces of it still exist).

Hope its completely sorted asap...^_^

Guys, this lag is so irritating, but I may have found a solution: if you play on English servers, just go to German server (DE1): there is no lag there. It's so strange! Why is this???? Please explain...

There's the solution...when he's not looking, steal his computer to play Tanki on.

 

Your mention of Windows 10 does bring up possibilities: what if the code being written for changes is using a different translation than the rest of us (mostly windows 7 and 8). Windows 10 has been stripped to the bone, and might not have the subroutines that cause the problem.

Personally, I am about 7 months from migration to a Windows 10 PC. (still have to arrange several dozen programs)

I have 999 ping no matter what I do, and it freezes a lot.

I can't really elaborate, because I can never get any response from the game while playing.

What really is happening when i play the game all the players get stalled and am the only one moving around. At that moment if try to kill the opponent it doesnt work at all. Most of the times it happens at end of the battle and i loose all the funds. The other issue is when my tank gets destroyed, at times it doesnt reappear i have to quit the game and re enter any place are left.

I got ok computer that runs around 40-60 fps with dynamic shadows on. my internet is **** but around 2 weeks ago it ran almost without any lag (ping rising really high) it ran all the time in 24-60 ping but ofcourse sometimes it did go to 999 but it was ok cause it was rare but now it goes every 10 seconds after another lag for about 10-20 secs to the "lag mode" and i cant even self destruct -.- I live in finland so not that far away from servers,

Yandex keeps crashing as soon as I enter the garage... and I can't capture golds in Chrome. Safari is unplayable too.

Suddenly everyone's turret starts to turn while I can still move. Sometimes I don't even respawn and I'm stuck being in phantom mode.

The server lag has been decreasing today... I don't lag that much like few days ago.

 

I think that it's already being fixed.

I think Tanki did a few things to help remove the lag.  I haven't had much lag at all the past couple of days.  I live in the United States so I'm not even very close to the servers.

 

If people are still experiencing lag I'm sure Tanki will continue to work on it.

We believe you. It is affecting a large majority of the players, and apparently being investigated in earnest.

Symptoms are freezing up, high ping spikes, and rapid CPU activity. No browsers appear exempt.

My LAG is not severe, but creates a slight slow-motion effect, like the opposite of a Speed Boost.

 

While not "jerky" or disorienting, this results in terrible gameplay.

 

Also experience "runaway-tank" where controls do not respond.

 

Oddly, my Ping and FPS seem normal.

 

 

Glad I saw this, I was worried people were really abandoning Tanki, en masse.

Hello,

My lag started when the new update was on roll... The made me to wait for hours to get tanki loaded, I have being wasting all my time to just to log to the lobby... Its only happens with the loading for me. When I try to join a battle, It keeps on loading for ages,and I have to refresh all the time. Once when it's successful, that battle is useless because I have a very bad D/L and all call me mult for low experience and bad D/L.

in-game fps drops are being quite common now. I can only play tanki from Maxthon Nitro browser only. All other browsers have problems for me.

Please take this to your consideration and solve this problem.
