Shouldn't be deleted... If a user is super inactive his nickname is automatically changed to a special ID name, something like "Inactive_User_0025", and once the owner returns he gets a message saying that his name was removed due to inactivity, and has a option to choose a new nickname for free :)

But, let's say I wanted a new nickname but did not want to waist 100K. I could just let my account run out and then go and change my name to the desired one for free.

If you buy crystals then it would take 1,092 days from the last time you played the game for them to delete your account.

If you cared to watch the V-log or read my post on the previous page, you'd find out that inactive accounts won't actually get deleted - they will only become available for registration again, so the account is only lost (and reset) if someone actually tries to register the nickname. If you pay real money on your account, it does not become free for a full 3 years, regardless of the rank. And if you linked your acc to e-mail, you get a chance to redeem your account if someone tries to register the name.

And the reason they want to do this is not only to give players ability to register cool nicknames, but I think it's also to free up the nickname database when they transfer players' nicknames to Tanki X.

But, let's say I wanted a new nickname but did not want to waist 100K. I could just let my account run out and then go and change my name to the desired one for free.

I'm pretty sure this is not how it works. When you register a new account name, the account will be new as well and you won't have your rank and garage on it, even if you registered the same nickname as that of your inactive account. The only way this might be possible is if you take your inactive account's nickname and then ask to get your acc back with a new nickname via help@tankionline.com, but I'm sure that they will find a way to make this trick not so convenient.

I personally am in the middle with this idea. I have lots of other accounts and I don't want to lose them. They are very fun to play in when I get tired of my main account. How about this:

A person with only m0 equipment: 3 months till their acc is lost

A person with m1 equipment: 9 months till their acc is lost

A person with m2 equipment: 18 months till their acc is lost

A person with m3 equipment: 5 years till their acc is lost

Generalissimo: Eternity(Never) till their acc is lost

Player who has spent real money gets +2 years to his/her account.

I feel Generalissimos should never loose their nickname, they have obviously spent 2+ years dedicated to the game and have 1,400,000 + XP points. Its no easy thing to reach. Yes there are lots of inactive Generalissimos but there would be more Recruit accounts that have been created, and never accessed again. Some Generalissimos do comeback and want to play again, I just feel this would be a hassle for them.

Maybe an option in the settings for Gens weather they can loose they nickname or not after 1 year?

Well, you only lose the nickname if someone actually tries to register it, and even if you lose the nickname, you still get to keep the account itself. You will just have to get access to it via email or with help of the help desk. I don't think that losing a nickname is that big of a deal to someone, especially if they abandoned the game for at least a year.

I guess, but its kind of like what I said before, its a principle thing. I know is only pixels on a screen and easy to change but I wouldn't dream of changing my name. I'm lukey0, form my first battle, to my last, no matter how long of time away in between.

I feel it would just create more trouble for the help desk, there are already busy enough.

Another problem is that I might take vacations during the summer so I am unable to access tanki for a while. Maybe we should add a "Idle" mode for tank so if you are on vacation, your account cant be deleted, BUT you are also unable to log in until your vacation is over.

How long is your vacation? 2 weeks? A month? The maximum vacation you could have is probably around 4 months, so not only you need to be without internet this whole time, but your rank needs to be low enough for the account to become free in that time AND someone must try to register your name.

Some may have to work abroad.  Others may just need a rest from tanki.  I took over a year and so have others.

I think another issue would be "impostors," so to speak. Some players are well-known by their nickname or a unique nickname, or a nickname that has an entire legacy behind it, etc. and sometimes they go inactive then the next time they get on, they find out they have a "nickname-less" account, with an impostor running around ruining their hard-earned reputation. Sometimes their real life character is reflected by their nickname. It's like a kind of "attachment," you know? I'm sure we all know @SwiftSmoky and his infamous parkour tricks and stunts. Who would want to see a fake Swiftsmoky driving around saying they are the most proe parkour? And some of you know @Pizzarrific, who was a good friend of mine, he grew his YouTube channel quite quickly and worked very hard on his videos, many of which were inspiring, motivational ones for Tanki. I know I wouldn't want to see a new Warrant Officer 2 named Pizzarrific, knowing it's not the person I knew.

Tankers that have quit Tanki or haven't played for more than a year, then their account nickname will be avalible again so tankers can have a wider nickname options. The account will lose all xp gagrage and be competely avalible for a new tanker to use. Hope you like this idea! Please Upvote!

I really doubt that would happen. Maybe 1 or 2 rare cases, but definitely shouldn't be a big problem. We'll see.

Yes, someone would not go through all that work to do that, or even think of that. Some one really evil must think of such a scheme....

*cough*  generalpotato_PRO, but it's still possible. I'm just wondering about the nickname O.U.F.A, so many people will try to get the nickname. But clearly if you see a O.U.F.A you know its an imposter. So if they're famous then we'll know by their rank, and probably their skills to if you do a 1 v 1 with them.

If an account is blocked, it's still considered to be "active" even if the owner hasn't tried to log on for years. Same goes for accounts blocked due to inappropriate nicknames - they will never become available to register again.

perhaps those who left their accs for a long time can receive a message from Tanki, asking them if they still want their acc. that would give them a chance :) don't ya think?

Watch the v-log... -_-

So if you leave Tanki with this update, all you need to do is request a "block" on all your accounts and the name will be safe? That could be a leave pass, but troublesome if you only want to comeback for a 30min play after 2 years.

Why should people loose their accounts after an absence.  Why should they need to inform or ask permission of a foreign owned private company if they can have an absence.  Why are some individuals asking for this, it is very small minded.  What is in it for them.  People might have a stack of private reasons why they should be absent, family problems, study at home or aboard work at home and abroad, illness.  Do these people that suggest these thing have no imagination, compassion or empathy.

Remember, it could be you!
