Change in forum feedback mechanism

You can still dislike something, but you need to post for that; and most of those posts have an opinion included aswell.

It can filter out the trolls... still need to see how this goes though.

I agree, Youtube shouldn't have removed the dislike funtion... because it's not really a forum, it's a comment system.

But this interface here is actually made for discussions, so I don't think removing the dislike feature will be as bad here, as it is on Youtube.

Google+ was probably the worst thing that could happen to Youtube's comment system.

In any medium where the ability to quickly and efficiently show that you disagreed with something was removed, people whose sole motive was to create chaos were able to do so far more quickly and easily.

For example if someone were to post something like "Cats are Satan Spawn", normally, you would get a bunch of dislikes, and then a number of people who agree, and never the twain shall meet. Now, you'll get a post with a bunch of likes, and a heated argument in the discussion.

That could happen yeah, but ain't forum moderators there to prevent these heated arguments going to much off-topic?

THIS. Thanks,

Finally, this Forum will be a place where real, well-structured and meaningful discussions will be posted and enjoyed by everyone.

All those users using their main and alt accounts to downvote others' posts just to provocate and create childish arguments while staying hidden will now have to show themselves to express their dislikes and face the consequencies if they start trolling and provocating.

Also, this will endorse the existence of POSITIVE CRITICISM - Tanki Online does not forbid criticism, at all. Tanki Online Helpers and Administration gladly welcome criticism as far as it is brought to attention politely and with the appropriate manners, not with random dislikes and pointless ranting without a logic.

This is another clear example taken from the "everyday life of a Forumer" - users tend to follow the mass, the "big group", they try to avoid going against it since they would be isolated and mistreated, so if 20 peoples downvote something on purpose, other users will simply pass by and randomly downvote that thing, even if they may have liked it at first.

This is, so far, one of the best updates I've seen on Forum after 5 years of being in it as a player and three as a Forum Moderator, it is a clear example of how much the Administration cares for the users and the time they spend online while being part of a huge Community.

Nicely said mate. Your first post that I actually like. :D

As I look through the comments, I realize an interesting phenomenon... the update worked. The bullies who hate the restriction that Tanki has placed upon their ability to ruin the fun everytanki has on the forum are talking about it, just as planned.

Some are saying "now the hate is just going to get worse", but I contend that it will not get worse because bullies will now have to work a lot harder to troll and flame. No more "trolling just enough to not break the rules." You must either offer a useful voice of dissent, one that truly has a purpose and helps the devs understand what is needed to improve the forum or game, or you can troll and flame and wind up getting banned.

See? This comment is a superb example of why we need a dislike button. It automatically assumes those who use the dislike button are 'bullies' and 'trolls' who are only out to ruin others fun. Yet, despite the fact is such a blatantly false and opinionated comment, it will receive only likes.

Lets think deeply what this update was added for.

Semyon is planning a 20 or 30% discount in the next year. He does not want his legendary down-vote record to be broken by himself again. Thereby, he introduced a system where no one can dislike.

Well done!  -_-

I agree with every word ...

But their comment does not reflect that. It says that the people who are active bullies will have to actually work for it and that those who already created useful feedback, negative or positive, will be able to voice opinions without the problem of receiving hate in the form of a negative number.

If you disagree with something, you now have to argue intelligently to get your point across. Flame posts will be ignored. Negative feedback with no backbone will be ignored and the ole' "Good job Tanki!" with no reasoning will also be ignored as it always has been.

That being said, the actual like button itself has now lost some weight to it. It has a now inaccurate view of a posts popularity. So the system still requires some tweaks.

Intelligence has nothing to do with it, now you just have to argue (remove 'intelligently') to get your point across, and the argument, no matter how dumb, will incur only likes.

The forum is now just a big Cinderella tea party.  :)

Hardly, although this was the obvious attempt, it will have the opposite effect. Expect more flame wars in the future.
