My favorite of all time was Opera when it was based on the Presto engine. I detest Chrome because of the ads, I don't care for IE any longer, and, I only use Firefox because I'm left with little choice. I hate how it nags and pretends to make decisions for me (such as automatically disabling Flash and automatically preventing me from visiting some web pages because someone else decided those were a "risk").

Firefox annoys me because there's no setting to automatically open new pages zoomed to a default that I like - this is one of the things that the older version of Opera does well  - set it once and forget it.  The new version of Opera is based on Chrome and I refuse to use it. I still use the old version of Opera when I can, but, some pages don't play nice with it (the ones that try to mimic the endless scrolling on iPad/iPhone are good examples of poor design).

I never liked Netscape back in the day and Firefox is at times just annoying.

The thing that really gets me is that when Tanki crashes (as it does at least a dozen times in the course of a few hours) for some reason IE will reload Tanki much faster than Firefox will.

Browsers nowadays are overly bloated.

1. Open source

Chrome is only partially open source, while Firefox is 100% open source.....

2. More configuration

In Firefox, you can tweak every little thing....

In chrome, not so much.....

3. More download options

In Firefox you can open a file or save it.....

In chrome you can only save it, you can't open it.....

4. More extensions....

Although chrome web store is packed full, Firefox still has more extensions.....

5. Doesn't track

Chrome tracks everywhere you go.... -_-

Firefox minds it's own business...

6. Less memory consumption

Chrome eats up all your RAM in one second, but Firefox doesn't....

7. Fewer processes.....

Chrome has a billion processes running even though you have only one window open....

Firefox has fewer processes.....

8. You can create you own builds if you want...

Not so with chrome.... -_-

9. There is a setup file.....

With chrome, when you download it, it automatically opens and installs itself..... without giving you a setup file...... -_-

But Firefox gives you an online setup file.....

  1. Both are OSS, The amount of OSS they have given is the difference
  2. Firefox has more basic pre-installed Extensions which allow you to customise it where as for Chrome they have to be downloaded, so both have equal amount of configuration
  3. Chrome can't open download files? What you on about m8? I hardly go to Downloads folder to open my files, Both can Open,Save,Run files with same file extensions, No difference in that
  4. Chrome community is 5x bigger than Firefox, How can you expect more extensions for firefox?
  5. That option can be turned off in Chrome and turned on in Firefox, Difference is in Chrome it is enabled by default and Firefox not
  6. Chrome eats RAM , Firefox hogs Disk, now choose which one would you like to get hogged
  7. Those billion processes in your pc are the extensions you have enabled, Firefox doesn't show them in Processes but chrome does, Thats where difference arises
  8. I agree with that, +1
  9. Why would you need a setup file actually? When a installer does the job for you

End of the day, Chrome for me ^_^

Yeah, that's annoying especially when the browser crashes and you have to Cntrl+Alt+Del it.

For news websites heavy to my laptop such as pcworld, both firefox and chrome make my laptop hot. I go for text-based web browser, Elinks, Links, etc. and forget about ads, js, etc.

For medium and light weight sites like Wikipedia, mails, i use midori with a down-to-earth versioning scheme, 0.x.x style.

For firefox and chrome, i will wait until people cannot remember what version number their browsers are on.

And i hate those super slow javascript-based pdf reader.

That depends. According to my personal anecdotes, Chrome has the best graphics, Firefox has Mouse controls that I can't use properly for some magical reason, and IE is choked with ads that pop out whenever I open a new window or click on a link. Chrome serves me the best. But it's different for every one of us. We all have our preferences. :)

As for your problem with browsers, our best bet is TO Unity, which includes souped-up graphics, souped-up audio, and anti-sprite technology. It's rumoured that there will be a client for the souped-up game, which could solve the whole browser dilemna you have here.
