Well thats how its gonna end

With increasing buyers and decreasing non-buyers in Tanki , Unity version will come and will give less features for buyers thus attracting non-buyers . When non-buyers are in the house , slowly and slowly features for buyers come so there we go Unity too ruined.

Another method to say this is

Make this tanki bad so that Unity version can look good. Then make Unity for buyers only.

Face it , every good game ends like it e.g

I used to play fb games like Ninja Saga , Miscrits , Farmville ,, there result = now they are only for buyers.

Last and simplest way to explain points above are

MAKE , EARN and TAKE THE NON-BUYERS OUT.

Think about this: the Helper paint has 18% protection from everything and the Premium acc paint has 20% on everything. So, a player who has a lot of money can have a better paint than a moderator who can get the helper paint by doing a lot work. The only work a buyer needs to do to get a better paint then helper is to spend some money on the game. Great! I know it's just 2% of prot. but you get the point. Tanki doesn't appriciate the helpers work more than money. But yeah, why would they?

I don't have a probelm with buyers (I am/was a buyer myself. Not gonna spend any money on this game anymore), but with the advanteges buyers get. I hope everyone buys their XT's on the first day and your premium accounts will be useless!

This is a very accurate description of the deceptive tactics of all free to play games.

After reading all this, i have to say one more thing, I used to play a game called Castle Clash, it is a direct competitor to Clash Of Clans, it has the same concept.  The game used to be good, they released troops that could be gotten by the Free to play population.  They started releasing a slew of updates that all involved "Gem Only Heroes"  Gems are the currency you pay real money for, the game was built on a rolling system, basically gambling, nobody really cared because they could grind the heroes without gems.  Once they started doing this, people left the game and never came back, including me.  This is a direct mirror to what will happen to this game in the near future, 50% more crystals was I had to hear before i closed youtube and walked away from my computer.  I dont want tanki to go down the slippery slope to a Pay to Play game, but i see it happening soon....

You guys want to be heard but you are being incredibly rude to the one developer who was willing to come here and read and respond.  FAIL !!!!

Why is what we say considered rude and the way treats us OK? He has no people skills, but because he is a dev he gets to treat players anyway he likes. No disrespect intended to you but remove your blinders and see the truth.  As you say he was the only one discussing this topic but wouldn't it make sense to have someone else to also represent Tanki on this matter. This is exactly what players are saying. There is no representative from Tanki in this forum at all any more. How disrespectful is that to us players?  They might as well just say it and be done with it.

" Thanks for your money, now sod off."

Selling premium membership is a better way to monetize the game than selling extravagant power (100%-boost supplies). If the premium model succeeds then supplies should be significantly nerfed, otherwise you'll end up giving buyers even more power than they already get from the overpowered supplies.

Special paint with 20% protection from all turrets and 50% more crystals are fine, but ONLY when the supplies (repair kit, double armor and double power) are nerfed so that they do not have such a drastic impact on gameplay. Reducing effectiveness of the three supplies to a 30-40% boost instead of 100% should create a fairer gameplay experience for both buyers and non-buyers. The game can continue to intoduce other non-power goodies for premium accounts to encourage more players to subscribe.

Agree with your view: but afaik this is not the path TO will choose.

Instead they seem to be planning to make buyers even more stronger than they are already today.

That Premium paint will just ruin any balance left in the battles, and will be devastating at

low- to medium ranks.

The game can continue to intoduce other non-power goodies for premium accounts to encourage more players to subscribe.

The problem is they can't quite get the concept of offering non-power items. They seem to think no one would want to have the premium account paint without protection, yet players are spending hundreds of thousands of crystals just to get XT kits. Also lets not forget how many players wear "holiday paint" just because it looks cool. So once again their logic is flawed and contradictory to other things they say and do.

They are stuck on the idea that players will only spend money on things if it will give them a huge advantage over others. I guess when you suffer from a superiority complex you think everyone thinks the same way. SO SAD, they have a golden opportunity with Unity and it looks like they are going to screw it up. I'm counting the days until the end.

I was too thinking about leaving the battle if they join, but it is not possible everytime,so I was thinking that I could ruin their game by joining their team :-)

@Canadian_Eh - I'm starting to think this way too! I thought they were just "too scared" to mess up their revenue system by making drastic changes, but at least they could try a different model selling exclusivity and customization and see how that goes. Even in this version of the game there are other non-power items that can be included in the premium membership, but it may not be so appealing to the current buyer base.

I said before that the game is attracting and fostering the wrong type of buyers (the control/power freaks). The best hope for a real change is with the release of the Unity game. They can build a "different" buyer base that craves non-power exclusive items, and there are countless numbers of such buyers out there. It'll be sad if they choose to "ruin" the Unity game by selling decisive power again.

Okay, I've got to state my opinions on this one.

I've played tons of MMORPGs before, and watched them rise and fall. Usually they rise because of the great community established, and this is a huge factor. The great part about communities is that it is a self-sustaining cycle, friends bring more friends into the game, and some of those friends spend money on the game. That's how income is generated.

Now MMOs usually fall because the community breaks apart, and that the gap between buyers vs non-buyers become too huge. Non-buyers constitute normally about 70-80% of ANY MMO game, regardless of the nature (except pay to play games). When the gap gets too big, they leave and join other MMOs. It's as simple as that. What do you think happens to the remaining 20% of the players, who now need to spend 5x the time to find a match?

That's not to say that advantages must be removed from buyers. I totally understand that every game needs revenue to sustain itself and pay the employees, maintain servers and technical costs etc. This can actually be done in different ways. There are highly successful games like DoTA that net in millions of revenue every month, yet upholds its community of players. Remember, the larger the player pool, the more attractive the game, and definitely new buyers will join.

Now instead of a OP paint that gives 20% protection to ALL turrets (this will definitely cause many players to leave I'm very certain), there are many features that can be implemented into the game. Here are some examples:

- Premium player statistics only available for buyers (including clearing of K/D data etc and starting all over again at 0)

- Customizable hulls, turrets and paints (not too far from the original so we still know what it protects against)

- Customizable paints for entire clans (clan leader needs to pay per month to keep the clan)

- Premium accounts only match, with drugging cooldown reduced to 10 seconds

I know it's simple to just enter "20" and a few other strings into some Python code and watch the premium buyers start coming in, because I've taken computer programming before. But please think of the consequences that could (and in this case definitely would) follow. I can start naming once-successful MMOs right out that were destroyed because of greed. Now if you say that Tanki HQ has fallen on hard times and need the revenue that badly I would understand, but I don't think any of us believe that's the case for now. Many cosmetic skins etc can still greatly appeal. Firebirds can start shooting black flames etc. I don't know - use your creativity.

And I believe it's very important to use player polls or surveys before doing updates. It's not just about updating anything you believe is good. Any online game is like a business - players are customers, and they should have the right to choose (to some extent, minimally). And businesses do not discriminate against large or small customers, even non-buyers have a profound effect on all MMOs.

I might sound arrogant and frustrated, but all in all I'm actually just very disappointed. Tanki has all along been a great game and was one that I was looking for and believe to have finally "found" it. There is still time before updates start rolling in.

This is not just a game that 7-year-olds play. There are many players that actually figure out what the developers are thinking (e.g. removal of dislike button that foreshadows this). Already many of the community members are expressing much disappointment in this update. Please take the time to read the comments and listen to the players.

Very good explanation of what many of us are feeling. I agree with everything that you have written but the problem is they don't really care about anything we think. Soon you will be able to add Tanki Online to that list of failed MMO's. It's to bad the developers of all these failed games couldn't see the impending doom. Blinded by greed and an over inflated ego, I guess.

this is so day javoo i have said this for so long that finally others are now saying it...tanki needed to listen to players from day one when we started talking about how bad unity would be for this game but we all forget this company has been making games for many years and they think they know it all but some times judgements are clouded over with what they think will make money in the long run and don`t care to see what is going on now..we all know tanki will be closing there doors on this game with in the next few years and they will be in-bracing the new unity

..they  forget who made them what they are today but then

we are nobody`s in this corporate greed stair case  to the top and all they see is $$ at the end ..

I'm only disappointed about the premium account paint.

I'm fine with everything about it except the paint. 20% off everything, and protection against mines. . . .

So Premium accounts don't need to buy paints anymore. :D

And mines are going to be useless against them since they're going to drug 24/7 as well.

Next thing you know, only PREMIUM ACCOUNT users will have the option to transfer to Unity. Oh boy. -_-
