Acid, Champion etc... are some valuable paints. And if someone is using that paint in battle, then obviously he will feel proud. You cant buy them. There are some tournaments where you can get these paints as a prize.

 

No matter what protection you choose for "Premium" paint. But obviously "Premium" paint should not have more protection than any of those paint, ever!

 

But now I don't feel like its worth to complete against someone for a less powerful paint. Now a recruit can have more powerful paint than Acid.

 

In Hardstyle tournament, obviously everyone was fighting for that Acid paint. They don't care about 200k crystals. I guess they wasted more crystals than that in the entire tournament.

I know that as well. Making OP paint avaliable for everybody by small check every month is bad idea as it makes all other paints usless. Nobody will buy them if there is an OP premium paint, I know that.

So yeah, the reasons.

 

1) Money, obviously. This is not a big secret that another game-about-tanki-which-will-not-name-to-make-sure-nobody-will-be-upset-about-it making most of its profit by premium pass so it was only a question of time for TO.

2) Make a valuable low-to-mid-range purchase in game on monthly basis so it will give more stable profit.

3) To find a way around our single currency economy to make extra offers for paying user while not ruin the benefits of single currency system.

 

The reason premium account was never introduced to TO is... well... it might take me really deep into who made that decision, but I can't really. Thing is, some things have changed inside the office. Saying that, I must point out that our goals with this game are not changed, only the way we do things.

 

This meens this game is going to stay free2play and not going into pay2win department.

 

But 20% paint, why? This is how we shoot our own foot right there :D Thing is, this IS going against certain rules we have. We still go by the rule of no extra power should be locked behind pay wall. This 20% is a problem for me as for anybody here as well. I am not going to keep whole another balance for paying users, this is just rediculus, but if everybody will use this premium paint it will happen and will clearly meens pay2win. But we do need an extra something to give with premium pass to make it stand out. This is why we aimed for a paint. Paints are the only thing we got in this game to customize your tank :(  So didn't have much choice there. 20% protection was added to make this paint usefull, otherwise we fear it won't be anything special.

 

Ok, I've already told you that I am considering 20% paint as a convenient but not game braking, but nobody seems to agree with me. I don't want to sound like a broken record here, so I will take my arguments back. You do consider it OP, I get it. I agreed for 20% only to make it valuable and as long as we are discussing plans to split protections and paints in the future. As I've said, if they will be separated, there won't be any reason to keep this protection in game, while the paint will be able to stay. When this will happen? Well, as I've said there were some changes  in the office and you can see how fast we are on updates recently. No dates though.

 

As you can see there is no reason called 'to-make-buyers-op'. I've always considered supplies are far enough in this department. Making +5% for paying user will not change power ingame noticeably, but will have severe consequences for community. This is not where we are going with the paint. I will discuss protection for the paint again with my GD department and we will have a closer look on the matter. Maybe it will be lower, maybe it will be removed, maybe it will stay as it is. Anyway, balance rules are still apply. If this paint will turn out to be gamebraking, it will be cutted. As I've already told here few pages before  <_<

 

Ideal scenario will be to keep premium paint, but devide protections and paints into two separate entities. We will get there eventually, I hope. There are so many cool paints we can make for this game, but so few we can see in battles while protection is influencing which paint to pick. We always looked for Team Fortress kind of model with lots of options for customization. Problem is, we won't be able to keep afloat if this game will only offer paints. Flash is old, not shiny, not a widespread. We just won't be able to reach for our audience so there won't be enough money to keep the game around and making new one. And if we descard either old game or new game to concentrate our strengh we will go down hill for real at very same moment. This is why we have to go into twilight territory with our decisions. We have no choice but to live by our current auditory, otherwise the whole project will die.

 

This whole situation is just a big missunderstanding. I can see why it happend. There are not that much people to respond from the office to the community. Seriously, there like only two people who can talk to you here. Obviously we are not enough. I don't even suppose to comment on the matter. I am game designer, I got other things to do. Can't change much there so I ask you for the patience. Please?

For example, they could be glossed over to appear more shiny, but have the protection of garage paints currently in their garage. Also, there could be good-looking visual effects above their tank, maybe a decorative accessory? This wouldn't be gamebreaking but would be something unique for premium users.

 

Also, regarding an increased rate of earning crystals, would it be such that the tanker receives double the amount of the battle fund when the battle finishes, thus depriving non-buyers of crystals from the fund, or would it be such that when a premium user captures a flag, point or kills someone the fund is increased by twice as much than if a normal user did so?

 

In my opinion the latter would be better, as it means that there is an inflation in funds for premium users without jeopardising the crystals received by normal users.

 

Lastly, thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply to this community, I am very grateful for your efforts. However, I'm sure that the situation would be much improved if Semyon Kirov (or Cedric Debono) came and responded to our points, because they are supposed to be our Community Managers and seem to have shifted too much of the workload from themselves onto you. Community managers are meant to engage with the community, not sit by and watch without talking or giving any sign they're reading the posts. In fact, there was a poll put up for the removal of downvotes which was taken down about an hour later because more of the community said they did not like the change than those who said they did. can you foward my idea to something in the higher places? i already posted it in the V-log thread but no one is reading those.

 

My idea:

-Nerf the paint to something less game breaking like 10% or just uhm... 50% against mines.

-Maybe add a cool moving effect like an animated texture.

-in addiction to this, Double experience and crystals gain instead of just 1.5x

-Another cool feature could be +5% to the battle fund growth for each premium user in the battle: this way, EVERYONE will love premium users!

-Maybe 1/4 the wait time for micro-upgrades?

 

There are sooooo many features who can be given to premium users instead of the game-breaking Opness of the paint. Be wise!

The whole update is messing but this will be better at least ^^

If you are referring to RU Commentators, then it is another story: they probably are paid since their job is an office job, they are like "speakers man" in the radio or in TV, so they are managed differently from EN Commentators.

50% more crystals will work same way as SMP. Battle will go as normal like it is now. But that particular premium user with just get 50%more crystals.

 

For example, after battle ends we all will see that he got 100 crystals from fund. But 150 crystals will be added to his garage.
