Nope, I didn't. As long as I play with 20% protection all the time myself (veteran paint, legit) I know what advantages and disadvantages it gives you. Sure it helps to be 20% protected from enemy shots but... I got pwned by guys with 50% protection. Using 20% against every turret is a way to not bother what paint to choose. Convenience that is.

 

Also, there is another elephant in the room. 20% paint is really good on low ranks, yet we still introduced it. The problem is PROTECTION is built in PAINT. We do really want to give premium user a special paint, but he won't use it without protection. So 20% is a way to go, until we figure out how should we tackle this protection+paint problem.

why not increase it over time? like 10% recruit to First sergeant, 15% First sergeant-WO5 ect? come on now, be sensible.

like he (hazel) already said making varying protection level for different ranks increases the complexity of the coding, which btw is a nightmare with this flash thing and the reason why there's this other whole unity thing coming up, which requires less complexity to accomplish similar tasks.

What it all comes down to is that players are too cut off from staff & administration. That explains why Sami's recent videos revealing some of the inner workings of Tanki have enjoyed so much success.

As I said, a good idea deserve to be successful, but greed and blind money drained to players is not a good strategy. Any idea to be successful has to be supported by appropriate management and customer care (in this case).

Don't compare TO staff with road beggar praying for some coins for food. They have diamonds on the table right now!

Tanki isnt just a game, its a company. They need money to keep tanki running. If that money isnt coming in, they must do something.

What you refuse to understand is that when players are happy, they just continue playing the game (at most go to the forum and leave a like), but when they are unhappy they go and leave complaints in the topic. So basically there are a few hundred people complaining on the forum, while the rest of the players (thousands of them), who are happy with this update, are just playing the game as usual and they have no need to go and leave positive comments on the forum.

Did you seriously just make that assumption? The 1000's you refer to have no idea about this update because they have never seen the main page or anything on it, including the V-log. You may ask How? Well where is the first place a new player goes the first time he goes to tankionline.com? They end up in the tutorial, once there it takes you straight to a game server. It is at this point that they bookmark the page and from that point on they only ever login directly to the servers, blissfully unaware of anything that is going on in the forums or even of their existence. So for you to assume that all of the 1000's of silent voices are happy is unbelievable.  If this same assumption is made by Tanki HQ, then that explains a lot.

You ask how I came to this conclusion, well about 4 months ago I came across a group of players all in the top 4 ranks of the game. There where 4 of them that have been playing with each other for most of their Tanki careers. They are adults and had absolutly no idea about the forum. They had been doing exactly as I described, they had been going straight to the servers from day 1 and had never seen the main page. Seems like a rather big flaw if you ask me.

Oh yeah, you forgot to consider all the players that don't speak English,Russian,or German and don't bother with the forums due to the language barrier. You also forgot about all the kids who only want to play and have no interest in discussing anything.

Well we have offered them all kinds of ideas to make more money but they are stuck on the idea of selling even more power to those that already get a huge advantage just due to the fact they are buyers. 

 

You want another idea to add to your "premium accounts"? Provide a "premium members only" section to the forum for those who want to support Tanki. I would buy a PA just for that reason alone. But stop selling power.

well, you seem quite intelligent, so i'll let you figure out the concepts of how 2 different version of a game can run in parallel ............ ohhhh waitttt.... no no nu nu nu ... wrong words , or rather poor choice of words and apologies if i used that in the past and all other people who used that word in the past including devs ... tanki unity is not the "next version" of tanki .. consider it a spin-off based on the current tanki, but different and unique in its own ways.  how? don't ask me just keep watching the vlogs ;)

That too, this forum and vlogs and updates will still be here.  but for how long?  that i don't know, but i do know that its not gonna be flipped off like a light switch the moment unity tanki arrives.  the length of time the flash version stays around can be actually quite long if players support it by sticking around, and i'd love that cause lots of memories in here man  :wub:

hey funny thing :)  i too quite like the guy and respect him.  I've in fact been in touch with him before all that happened and even after people started going crazy about the "mountain-dew-being-used-as-cough-syrup" video.  And here's the thing, that video is there on youtube and youtube has a comments section on, lets keep the discussion about that video there and keep the discussion in here about upcoming updates please

Haaaaaaaa sarcasm, good. Just like any arrogant player with a high position. Anyway, I think we all know that Unity is a spin off. With the same maps, tanks, turret, but new graphics :)

I have to say something that may have already been said but it is hard to keep up with everything in this topic. 

 

The idea of premium accounts as a whole is a great idea, however it has a flaw. It has been said and confirmed by several people already that selling power or making the game into a pay2win game is and has been the end for a lot of other MMO games. There is no need to give buyers any in game advantage. There are lots of very popular games that offer things to those that want to support the game that don't give them any sort of advantage and yet they have all kinds of buyers. Tanki can and should be able to do the same thing.

 

Now as for the recent events that are occurring in this topic and the rest of the forum. I suspect that all this negativity and rage has less to do with this update and more to do with the fact we have reached a point where we just can't take it anymore. It has been building to this point for several months now and now it is here. There have been so many failed and/or unpopular updates, broken promises and unfixed issues in the last year that many players have left and those of us still here have reached the boiling point and beyond. This current situation is bigger then this planned update and it will take some work to fix the relationship between Tanki and it's players.

 

I have to commend for coming back to this topic to try and sort out a resolution. It's no secret that we don't get along but I will give credit where credit is due. I'm still willing to offer my opinion and feedback if they want it.  

 

Speaking of feedback. I have to admit I'm rather disappointed in the mods that keep deleting anything that is not positive feedback. I understand that many of the things deleted were in violation of game rules however many negative feedback posts were also deleted for no other reason then the fact they are supposedly "ruining the reputation of Tanki". To me it's like your saying "give us your opinion as long as it is what we want to hear, if it is negative, then don't bother"
