I Made It

On November 29, 2014, I made this post Sorry if Repeated: Can You Become a Commander in Cheif for free (Cheif misspelled in original post :)). At the time, I was a Corporal or something like that.

In the beginning, I estimated to take three years to get to a Gizmo. Here I am less than a year later a Gizmo.

You can see here, my experience points, crystals, and how many of each garage supply I have.

I did not buy any crystals. Neither have I activated any drug ever. I did not use garage supplies to get gold boxes, to capture flags, to capture points, or any other reason. All the drugs given to me are still in my garage.

This video gives a quick tour of my garage.

I don't boast to be one of the best, but I sure exceeded my expectations and made reasonable progress, surviving against druggers, raiders, saboteurs, etc.

Now, I can play for fun. I am not under any pressure to earn exp points to rank up for any reason. There are no good sales to look forward to, thanks to Tanki Online, so I have no pressure to earn crystals. I can join any game I like, and, when it is no longer fun, I can leave, not worrying about losing crystals or anything. I also intend to get PRO passes to join drug free battles when I do not feel like donating crystals to chronic druggers.

I now have exactly 1,400,000 exp points, and with this post I will have exactly 1,400 posts.

It is ironic to be able only now to say:

I can now have fun!

Not necessarily. If a person didn't play every day then the Daily Gifts would not have been added. A person who drugs probably would have had fewer DD/DA - repair kits are very rare rewards - with Daily Missions the chance of receiving a repair kit overall are 6:100 supplies earned.

I expect to reach Gismo in about 2 weeks or so - that comes close to about a year for me as well. :)

We don't have daily missions for a whole year yet , by just logging every day he would've gotten more I guess.

Don't take this the wrong way, but to me a player that never ever uses supplies in team battles is equivalent to a generalissimo with M1-M2 equipment, i.e. what you more commonly refer to as a "mult".

Just imagine this: an intense drug war, score is 5-5 (6 flags total), your team is attacking the enemy base, killing off the defense, you grab the flag, by amazing coincidence you survive and dodge every shot, with great effort you manage to get the flag to the base, but you get killed a few metres away from capturing.

And then you see some guy called Baby_Sam spawning right next to the flag. He takes it, but for some reason he doesn't activate any supplies and as a result, gets one-shot by a rail with DP and the flag is returned. The enemy team wins in the end.

Would I be mad in that situation? Yes.

Would your determination to not use supplies help the team? No.

It's one thing being against "druggers" and those, who use supplies everywhere regardless of the situation, but it's a completely different thing to not use supplies and ruin battles for your teammates.

^ The fact that I intend to have fun now does not imply that I did not fun at all before. It is going to be more now.

I do not put myself in the situation you describe. I actually only play CTF if I have to because of a mission with a high crystal reward, and chances are I would change it even then. I get what you mean, but I do not agree with your assessment. I leave drug wars. I let chronic druggers sort it out amongst themselves, not because I am so patriotic in the first place but because I do not have fun in those situations, and I do not get many crystals, so I am better off counting my fingers.

I don't really believe you didn't drug , you would have much more drugs then.

If you see my gold box videos, you will see me sometimes go to the gold box with near zero health without any drugs. Gold box is the holy grail for druggers and non-druggers alike.

If you don't believe me, you need to wait until TO puts out the ratings and statistics.

Congratulations! Can you share some tips in how to be successful like you? :)

Thank you.

I will think about that. I am also considering recording game play videos, not because I am all that good, but because everybody's doing that.

Based on how many he has that is 35 per day for 365 days.

It is around 40 a day given that I have been here for less than 11 months. Also, sometimes one gets crystals.

Well done! Totally focussing on few equipment and even less paints.

You 've even done it without drugging which is impressive, even though I for once

agree with that is not always a good thing to do especially in CTF.

Really hope you also liked the path to Generalissimo. I guess you did.

Kind of hurts me though how you just threw away the greatest turret of all Smoky...even worse

you wear that paint that even haunts me in my nightmares.... ;) ...but I also saw that

Thunder M3 in your garage: which means there 's still hope for you! :P

More serious: are you planning to play with other weapons, hulls?

And which hull you prefer now: Viking or Hunter?

I currently use the Firebird most, then comes the Isida, then the Rico, and finally Thunder.

I play CP nearly always. The order I listed the turrets with is the order I instinctively tend to go into the point, where the most points are.

I like Rico most, but mine is not upgraded well, so it tends to lose when you go into the pit. I am going to try to use it a little more now.

I do not play with Railgun because when I tried in my low ranks, I always missed even though I was following the tank with the turret. The only time I do not miss is when the other tank is not moving. On the other hand, when someone else used it against me, they hit me even though I thought I moved out of their line of fire. So, early on, I decided that I did not want to be on either side of the Railgun.

Smoky did not attract me because it has a lower DPS than Rico and is less flexible. The fact that it is the first turret one uses helped with that opinion. Despite that, sometimes I am impressed with it. It seems that I often underestimate it.

I mainly use Viking because I had better upgrades on it than the Hunter. I feel that I have not benefited from the extra speed of the Hunter but suffered from its lower protection. Remember that I play Polygon CP most often, and that is where Titan is probably the best turret. Despite that, I am considering getting Hornet at some point.

Maybe at some point, I will give the Railgun a try. Maybe I will be lucky and get a Railgun XT mission. :P

You should know when you have to use supplies  <_<

* Don't ruin battles for your teammates

That is instinctive. In this situation, you notice that you are not earning good scores. When I am in that situation, I leave. I do not care why I am not doing well whether it is bad luck, people drugging, I have the wrong equipment, etc. It is just not fun. I leave because I discover this early on, and I have not earned a good score anyway, so nothing to lose if I leave, especially if I am on the losing team.

So, don't worry about my teammates. They are not my teammates for long in this situation. :P
