Dear friends,

 

Lately we've been receiving queries and complaints from several of you concerning certain information and misinformation that have been circulating around the community.  We would love to spend a few time with you all and help dispel some of those myths and rumours, and to also help in clarifying any of the doubts you may have had during the past few days.

 

Feel free to ask about those in here, but please make sure your posts do not violate the Game rules as this is still the Tanki forum.  Also no need to post links to external sites and videos, we've already seen them.  Just asks your questions directly.

Helpers & Moderation Myths

 

Who are the helpers?

 

 

Helpers are just players like you who wish to contribute to the game and the community they love in their free time.  They come in various categories and from all sorts of different background and ages and any player can enrol to become a helper as long as they meet the minimum requirements and subject to vacancies.

Do helpers enjoy any privileges?

 

 

Depending on their assigned area of competency, various helpers are entrusted with additional functionalities to assist them in their tasks.  They also enjoy special paints and avatars on forum, and are often rewarded with in-game crystals as a token of appreciation for their hard work.

 

 

 

Why do helpers even do what they do?

 

 

For various reasons and motives, but at base they all enjoy and share the same love and passion for the game and helping the community; you all.

Do moderators get paid for bans?

 

 

Absolutely not!  Mods are assessed on many qualitative criteria and the amount of bans they serve is completely irrelevant.

What if I was wrongly banned or I have complaint about one of the helpers?

 

 

If you truly believe a helper faulted in his duties you can send a pm to his respective administrator.  Use the Lists of Helpers to find the corresponding person.  Alternatively you can send an email to help@tankionline.com to file your complaint.  

 

The relevant administrator or help-desk personnel will review the plaint and if it is valid they will ensure all necessary procedures are engaged.

Sorry, but this is not true.  Mods do NOT get paid for banning players. Instead they are assessed in how many hours they spend in the chats, keeping an eye around, interacting with players and the overall time they work. Without revealing too much information about the technical stuff, we can simply say that they are not, in any case, paid for banning players ; the actual amount of bans they hand out is irrelevant in calculating how effective they have been.

Why the videos you mentioned have been hidden?  Simple, they do not reflect the true nature of the game and its management in so many ways.  There's tons of unsaid things in it, there's tons of mere speculations, but we don't deny there were certain elements of truth either, but only very few.

 

We don't protest against the video, in fact we respect it and its author, but the game forum and chats are no place to discuss speculative contents and definitely not in a one-sided fashion as has been the case up till now.

We do not know the individual saying that to you but no, this is not true at all.  See the top comment.  

However if your friend is an old mod from back in the older days, then he is referring to how the old system used to work.  Back then it was a mess, a plague and even I was a victim of that system getting banned unfairly for months with my friends.  But since then (long ago) tanki has adopted a different system so that we don't get mods easily abusing the system for more crystals

Hey man, thank you for explaining how the pay works for chat and forum moderators.

 

However, I just wanted to point out that for Facebook moderation, the system does indeed work as pay-per-comment, as was suggested. This system is prone to abuse, and through my career I have several experiences to share.

 

I, personally, have been tempted to simply comment for the sake of it - and some moderators do indeed do just that, replying with a simple smiley face, or some other useless acknowledgement.

 

To take the most memorable example, former moderator at one point in time went to old Question of the Week videos, which had already finished and winners announced, just to copy and paste the answer "Thanks for entering!" on hundred and hundreds of comments. Mia and I called him out, and FBI did a stellar job at resolving the problem, but this just shows how prone the system is to abuse from selfish or immoral individuals.

We were promised that we would be better off after the daily missions. But then they were reduced, and reduced again. Either a stunt from Tanki to make us welcome the change, or miscommunication and lack of organisation (which isn't the first time) from the developers.

They were reduced significantly, to the point where we aren't better off at all. I believe it was by more than 50%.

I'm really tired of players who are begging for the gold box by saying "gold box plz admin" or other phrases like that...

"Gold Box Dropping" Information Banner - it is a great idea.

 

There should be a banner saying "Gold boxes drop randomly among the servers, administrators nor moderators have no powers to drop the gold box."

About the first one: the Daily Missions system needs to be in balance with the game. This means players shouldn't be earning more crystals than they are spending, otherwise the game would start dying (not Tanki-want-all-of-our-money thing, it's a general practice in any MMO, a rule of survival). To keep this balance we are adjusting the crystal/supply prize ratio for Daily Missions. Sometimes it gets decreased, at other times it gets increased. So, it's a dynamic thing really, being analyzed by our GDs and analysts.

 

Second one is true. With the removal of crystal boxes, all the crystal boxes value went directly into battle funds, which resulted in faster battle fund growth, and, potentially, more gold boxes being dropped. The gold box drop rate is a balanced thing, and to keep it at the same level as before, the chance was decreased from 1/7000 to 1/10000. But because of the faster battle fund growth, it's the same as before in terms of how often boxes are dropped.

and the staff are all good people (yep the staff i know are all very polite people :P )
