I started playing around this time last year. There were quite a bit more people playing 1 year ago than play now.

 

On that note. Let's address the rumor that people are leaving Tanki in droves, and there are far less players online than there were in 2013-2014. True or false?

 

Now I don't have the exact numbers of playeys (up to someone who works with Tanki statistics guy to answer that) but I do have this handy Google Trends chart, which shows that interest in Tanki actually peaked in December of 2014. There was a slight decline since then, but nothing that indicates Tanki is "on the verge of collapse" as some people think. If anything, same number of people are searching for Tanki as they were a year ago. Alexa info may also come in handy, draw your own conclusions from that. Until we get some more accurate numbers, I'm thinking that the whole "Tanki is dying and everyone is leaving" hooplah is somewhat overblown.

The only times they reduced cost of the crystals were the 25% Sale and the 20% PayPal sale. I guess they DID forget about us. (Probably all the way until who knows when)

not quite.  its a very well known issues to the devs and finance people.  it does involve the tragedies of how our global economy pass around mere numbers on a computer network  :( but they're working on finding new solutions for that

And it was this refusal to act and admit any mistakes whatsoever that led to fewer and fewer vehicles on the bridge. Last Halloween peak traffic was 120k per day with a healthy volume throughout the day. Now they're lucky to see just over half that peak and and half that volume so where is it all going wrong?

 

Continuing to blame the bridge users for not cooperating is quite frankly absurd. They told the company about the negatives but it was never enough.  But the company's staff wore rose-tinted specs and could see no wrong. By not taking any ownership for the demise and continuously trying to find scapegoats only led to further resentment and further disrespect from the communities.  Business could have been booming if they only listened to the sane voices among them but now they have to settle for the odd day-tripper and mediocre numbers.

 

The future isn't entirely bleak for the new build. There will still be a following so worry ye not, but if they're anything like me, enthusiasm will be draining and appetites waning.

 

Wait hold on, what refusals of admitting mistakes are you on about?  You even got a guy who went on to say something like this, which isn't the kind of stuff 99% of companies out there admit publicly.  There's a few good other examples where past mistakes have been publicly recognised and plans made to fix them.  Till this day you even still have a dev who tells you he still didn't like the rebalance concept of a few years ago and it should have been a better solution.  Even lower down at administrative and moderating levels we've always admitted it wherever there's been stuff done wrong.  In fact you'll recall not so long ago something was wrongly posted on a social media page about a discount and it caused controversies.  Did we hide it?

 

I tell you what, you my lad are on about other stuff you deem to be mistakes, but which we have refuted all too well and without any counters from you but instead entirely fictitious novels based on highly inaccurate facts

Hey I remember that kit :D and was quite tempted too ^_^ , but honestly I figured out I'd eventually get rock individually on a sales sometime which is far more superior than urban IMO.  Same for inferno I could get it on a sale with a little patience and without having to pay for a silly splash I'd have never used anyway.

 

oh wait no, I didn't get inferno back then, went for sexy taiga, extremely versatile paint, good MU options, still use it till this day.  Inferno came later on as an alternative paint for XP believe it or not :P

 

See post I addressed to canadian_eh above.  Devs did mention all this from the beginning.  

 

Also at that time they were really working on a replacement mechanism.  But then something happened.  FLASH.  And the more time they spent writing it, the more it became apparent that this was an uphill battle.  They still didn't just abandon and got real stubborn with it, for MONTHS!  Sadly on this occasion and at that stage flash quirks prevailed more and more, and the more they tried doing something about it, the more troublesome the whole thing were proving to be.  Now were they supposed to come out and openly tell you all that so all mults would know it even better?

i got rock too..at 50 percent..thats always better but everybody does not want to wait for 50 percent sales.it also does not mean company will promote crap paints like grafitti with twins...why not change it to rock or urban..grafitti seriously..has vulcan and twins...i think africa would supersede that paint...anybody who went for that kit just fell into tankis trap!

if the company is so eager to sell grafitti why give it crap protections on it's own? first the company nerfs shafts and then it gives a 250k paint with its protection.not good.not good!

"Slight" decline. Using the graph and hovering the mouse over the values shows a 50% decline. That's not "slight."

 

When I started playing the peak loads were 120,000 every day. Now what do they show?

 

It's been a very long time since I have seen the individual servers all lit up like Christmas trees:

 

 

Now when I play during peak times only 3-4 servers are in the red.

Already I Visited the Topic when it was Started and when i see various admins and devs reply , thought to read the whole set .

The most interesting in that read was the Sami's Controversy and The clash between joe2vega and Hazel .

From now , i can read freely every post without any hurry ;)

@creeperskelly thanks for yummy picture :D  I'll try remember doing some stuff with the green ones :D  Also, I can't wait till christmas man  ^_^ oh and, one of the reasons why on alexa and google analytics it shows slight decline, but your pictures of peak time show servers like lit like christmas tree has to do with the nature of the peak back then and how it is now.  Back then we had a peak that looked like a peak on graphs, an actual slice of time of overload for servers (some 2 hours) then rapid drop and fairly low all across the remaining 24 hour span.

 

Now the peak looks less sharp but its soooooo much fatter .  Also the decline rate is much more smoother, and the average for non-peak hours is much much much better than those of the past.  Is now the best moments of tanki?  I don't think so, in fact the moment you point at might have been it.  But have it gone down the slope like a Bobsleigh champion just like some ferrets-in-suits want you to believe?  Hell naaa  :lol:

Wait, first off lets make something clear, if I missed any question, please restate it clearly.  There's many posts in this topic, hard to keep track specially if said questions springs out of other discussions / previous posts.

 

Now on to product kits, I never bought any kits, was never into any of these.  In fact when the first paint kit came out I thought to myself "what a bunch of ____ , who's gonna buy that ____ ".  The same day my friend stina came in waving her new sexy dress Irbis right in my face.  Goes to say that if you don't like the kit doesn't mean there isn't people out there buying it.

What is the story on the SMP? Is the 100% pass being taken out while the others will remain?

 

Also if players are getting one free day of Premium does that mean people with the 100% SMP right now will get 150% for 24 hours?

to answer that- 100% SMP has been taken out along 25% , only 50% SMP there as u can see on test server. i suppose this will also be the update in the main game

Well, that's a bummer. I was on the fence about Premium but taking away something I use and forcing me to pay extra now just to use it again puts me in the category of "opposed to Premium."

I only started using one when Daily Missions came out - too tedious to burn through 1000XP for supplies so I bought it to cut the time to do the missions in half - it also helps with getting the last XP I need for Gismo.

 

After that it won't matter. It still sucks to take away the 100% pass because it can be purchased with crystals - now someone will have to pay $10 per month and hand over crystals to get 100% again.

Thats the truth,

I had built a friends list since the summer of 2013 to over 350 players all of which range in rank from Marshal to Gissmo. 

Only a year ago, all of those players were online every week, with 80 + on at any given time, active skype conversations with over 150 of them.

Now I average about 20 or less at most on at the given time, often fewer than 10 and fewer than 50 players who have logged on within the last 6 months. 300 players gone from the game! That's a drop of 70% these were REAL players, not alt accounts!

This is what the removal of the EN forum Teams and Clan Community tournaments as well as the myriad of updates and huckster style revenue practices.
