Is Tanki Becoming Pay-To-Play?

No, Tanki is not becoming Pay-to-Play. Here I am, not spending a penny, but still having a blast. All you really need is a positive attitude and a will to have fun :)

Or at least not be so darn cynical <_<

I believe the OP really meant Pay to Win, not pay to play. You wont win matches when there are druggers everwhere you turn unless you can drug as well and have relivant paint, otherwise it just becomes grief for said free player and no one has fun like that.

^^ or u have skills, u`ll rotating your turret, create angles with camera and u know how long drug works with the enemy. and then u splash drugsucker :)

Assuming your target is a complete noob and you didnt get 1 shotted because you and nothing to protect yourself.

Not really. I said this before, but premium items in many games are purely aesthetic and give no advantage. Most buyers would be willing to pay, just so that they can stand out and have special looks and visual customisation. They could also add non-OP special features (like extra supply types and extra turrets/guns), which would only be possible to buy if you are a premium user, but they didn't do that because they still want all gameplay features to be unlockable without having to pay real money.

 

The paint is just extra incentive to make Premium more attractive. In fact, as Semyon said - the paint isn't even supposed to have any protection, but they added some moderate protection so that buyers can actually use it in normal battles. And yes, 15% is moderate and not at all OP at high ranks.

Question: would it be possible for the paint's attributes to change based on your rank? For example, maybe a 1% universal protection at Recruit and a 15% universal protection at Generalissimo or some other high rank? That fixes most of the balance problems, as I stated earlier in the thread I would not have a problem with 15% universal in Generalissimo but I would at Master Sergeant, but still keeps the cool paint and its usefulness.

This has been suggested multiple times on the RU version of this topic. It's a good idea and developers would probably even implement it, if it wasn't for the difficulty involved in coding such a paint. At the moment it's a paint just like any other in the garage, but with the addition of dynamic protections it suddenly becomes a lot more complex and developers don't want to spend ages coding something, that will only be used by a few people and is being added to the outdated version of the game.

if you wanted to get drugs,cry etc. they you could or pay 10 bucks now and get it instantly

With 10 USD bucks at most I can only get peanuts. It's not even enough to get a kit, let alone spare crystals.

 

In higher ranks, drugs, M4 equipment & OP kits aren't enough to win battles because of raiders, mults and sabo kings.

Since Unity is coming soon and this version is becoming "outdated", Tanki marketing team removed all forms of advertisement because there is no point attracting players into an old version, when you are already making a new one. This is normal and expected. In fact, the game is actually doing better than expected - the initial predictions showed that only about 30k people would be going online daily, but the number is more than double that.

 

What are your thoughts on the fact that daily playing numbers have fallen 50% in the last year? Do you have any explanation as to why half the amount of people now play Tanki on a daily basis?

I disagree with the pro batttles. It only cost a lovely fee of 5000 crystals a month to participate in pro battles which include no supply battles. Which is easy to make your money back. Also with daily missions you have a greater chance in getting crystal missions which is pretty dope.

Hi, i am a free player, if i feel any unfaire advantage the Pre Acc holders r getting. And as a result i am keep losing the battles, i will not play this game ever again, because i play this game to have fun in my free time not to get depress by frequently losing  . So the paid players can play with each others , which i believe are in small numbers.

1. Not going to happen. You can get enough supplies by completing daily missions, while the Smart Cooldowns update already gave supplies a big nerf. Weakening them even more will just make drugs pointless to use.

 

2. 20% is 15% and is not an advantage (see above). The bonus crystals and XP cancel each other out, so it's not an advantage over other players, but merely allows players to save time and "complete" the game faster.

 

3 and 5. Those things are in the past. They were removed for a reason and will not be brought back.

 

4. One of the reasons why non-drug battles are free is because in normal battles you enter for free, but "pay" by using supplies, while in PRO battles you pay with crystals, but save supplies. This won't change.

No, sir, you enter  the PRO battles to get AWAY from the drugs, and sit around bored out of your mind waiting for someone else to join.

Funny thing is, you don't need to drug in each match, iv seen many non drug matches where players just use what drops then 1 guy join and constantly spam his supply, it then cause a chain reaction and everyone else that has them use them. Some player are just ... i'm going to say, awful at playing and the drugs give them the edge they need to do stuff.

 

Non drug matches are nice, it leaves the game somewhat balanced and doesn't make it frustrating and toxic, the problem lies in difference in "ability of each player" and thats where every gaming company profits, Competitiveness and rivalry are something you wont escape in any mmo, don't join matches expecting ppl to not use drugs, it's only natural.

Yes, and I posted it on the forum many times before.

I think Tanki has always been a pay-to-win game, just like most Online Multiplayer games. It's just in these few years that it's really starting to pick-up, like a fat guy picking up a candy bar.

So you think that a loss of 60k daily players year on year is due to a lack of marketing? 

Yes, also due to the game simply getting old, so players are finding better games and moving on to them. This is why Unity is being developerd - to refresh the project.

The problem is that you're bad. The only advantage that premiums get is the 15% universal prot paint, certainly not enough to consistently sway the battles in their "small numbers". Also, have Premium Accounts even been released yet? Because if not, you look real stupid.
