[Issue 2] Guide to: Railgun! (TWG)

 Share

Recommended Posts

i came, and didn't comment, therefor i don't like

jk but srsly? it's a bit short, a hulls to use, and a vs other guns section would be nice, just a suggestion;)

What do you mean my expectations are too high? Sure I don't expect a 'reporter quality' article. It's just that the title says a guide to railgun but it isn't anywhere close 2 a guide. Anyone could write better than this in their first try  -_-

Yh true, I mean change the Title, because that is what the reader should be reading. It's like saying How to cook chicken but only saying how beautiful it looks.

Ok, I'll change it then. I didn't realise that you Guys wanted a longer Article but I'll try.

How is this supposed to be a guide for railgun? All you basically wrote was a wiki description, except it was 'in your own words' and there was a bit of extra details.

From my own noob experience with the Railgun: (I am no authority, just what I noticed through some experience as a camper)

- Never shoot an enemy who is already engaged with a teammate.

- If you have multiple targets to choose from shoot the enemy with the highest-damaging or longest-range turret.

- Once you choose a target, commit! Indecision will make you miss 99% of the time.

- After you fire - move and/or run for cover! You are just a target waiting to be shot while you reload.

- And for you non-railgunners: please try not to bump your Railgun and Shaft teammates, we only get one shot every once in a while. Thanks!

And please do criticize if I am wrong. I am still learning.

Pretty good but as you get more experienced, you'll learn this.

1. If you shoot the enemy that's taken damage by your teammate, you'll get some free EXP (Your teammate did the damage for you)

2. I'd shoot the player with the least health (light hulls, no drugs) Railgun, you should try to shoot to kill, not to just inflict some damage

3. True, sometimes you have to not commit because you're about to shoot the enemy but someone else kills him first, then you have to turn your Turret and kill someone else.

4. If you manage to find a good camping spot in a battle with close-ranged weapons, no need.

5. Yes, we hate it. Another thing we hate is when people try to push you off because they want your camping spot (especially nub lieutenants in Noise CTF Battles).

1. Isn't that kill-stealing? I know it's a freebie but I don't like doing that to teammates.

2. I never thought of that. Thanks, I will do that.

3. I don't know how to select an alternate target once committed. I need to work on that.

4. Yes, but....

5. How do I push a Shaft/Mammoth from my spot with a Hornet?

1. Yeah, it is but in DM's, don't you want more crystals and more EXP, too? This isn't only CTF. In DM's you should steal kills.

2. Yw! ;)

3. It's difficult but at least you have a 1% chance of killing something instead of 99% chance of not killing anything.

4. This is best when your turret modification is higher than their hull modification so you can one-shot them.

5. I meant the other way round. When stupid Mammoths try to push Railgun's out of their spot, even though we were there first. What I do is I tell them to go away, if they don't move, I try to push them to annoy them and if they don't go, don't waste your time. I hope this helped you!

Very much! Thank you!

I am very pleased to have actually helped some people in this Article, I really only intended it to be there for people to see. Thank you and good luck in future with Rail. Trust me, you'll love it! It's a great Turret!

One thing I will say, giving a turret rating at the end is somewhat redundant, as while rail may be a great turret (I am waiting to buy it m2 :D) All turrets are balanced, so maybe talking about what hulls it works with well in the future. Good Job Marc

Railgun is a very effective Turret and is one of the most popular Turrets of all in Tanki. Railgun is best in Mid - Long Range Battles.

Railgun is not common upon Newbies as it requires a great deal of skill to use. Most people don't start off using Railgun because they think that it is useless and can be substituted by Shaft, in most cases, that's not entirely true. Railgun has the added bonus of mobility, it is very versatile compared to Shaft because it doesn't waste time going into Scope Mode to focus onto a target, you can just shoot! Railgun is so popular, that it was one of the first XT items ever made in Tanki Online. Railgun is best when mounted on either the Hulls 'Wasp' or 'Hornet,' the reason for that, is that, they are both fast Hulls, which means you can move around the map and kill enemies without them even noticing. The two main negative points with Railgun, is its long Reload Time; it takes a long time to reload before you can shoot again and it also takes a while to warm up, before it can shoot, it takes a couple of seconds before it can shoot, so enemies will see the Turret warming up, and try to push shooter so he can't aim well. This is done mostly by other Rails, Hammers, or Smokeys.

Pros:

- Once ready to shoot, it packs a huge punch! It does a lot of damage per shot!

- It has big penetration power so it is easy to kill two enemies with single strike.

- Very versatile.

- Big range - it can shoot from one end of map to other, without suffering any damage loss because of range.

- Knockback Effect - this is a very useful asset of Railgun, it has such a big knockback, that it can flip some light Hulls over or backwards or throw off opponent's aim.

- Rail is one of most used Turrets for special battle format "Parkour" because of it's knockback.

Cons:

- Has a long warm-up time before it can shoot.

- Has a long Reload Time.

- In night battles, it can lose its stealth because opponents can see the beam of light before it is about to shoot.

Conclusion: Railgun is a very effective Turret to use but it is very hard for Newbies to use. It is best to use it when you reach Warrant Officer 1 (), where you use it until you Rank up twice () and if you like it, you can purchase its M1 Modification but if you don't like it, don't buy it! Remember; Railgun is not for everyone!

Railgun Rating: 9/10
