So anyways, I challenge you to try the whole "Firebird-Wasp no turret-turning"" tactic at your rank, see how well it goes.

That's the combo I regularly use, although I also frequently use Firebird + Hunter. And I do rarely turn my turret because its rotation speed is so fast (it's an upgraded M2).

I have to disagree - there are NO tactics with firebird ... except for the ONE that I described above

firebird = skillless, brainless and dull gameplay ... just what the kids want and that's why you see fire-spitting noobs on every map )))

I was actually GOOD with firebird in the WO Ranks, but is that just me?

have to disappoint you - it is the firebird gun that is good ... not the player

as said, firebird is everywhere, because it is too simple, too cheap, yet too OP, hence is the preferred turret by kids and/or noobs, which are the majority in this game

with fire you need no brains or tactics, even no aiming - just press Space and go forward, die, recycle )))

Sounds like tactics for Twins.

Definitely Firebird, followed closely behind by Railgun

Eh. I'm not sure why Firebird would be a favorite; unless you're on a small map. It's a ranged weapon, as you know, and is easily taken down if not in it's effective range.

Railgun on the other hand...I'm not going to get into how you can really just counter/trash a Rail player if you know what you're doing.

I think Twins is easier than Firebird because of its unlimited reload and decent range. With Firebird you actually have to be mindful of how much spray it takes to kill each tank so you aren't wasteful of your ammo in order to succeed. With a Wasp it becomes even more interesting. You have to use hit-and-run tactics all the time to get away with kills. None of these things take no skill- they all involve skill. Because of this I think Twins is generally the most simple turret to handle.

 KIDding right ))

due to its mechanics twins has one of the most complicated gameplay in TO - you have to bear in mind the low range, the low damage and mostly the slow speed of the projectiles ... playing with twins takes skill like playing with rail - I have seen only a few to master it !

Twins actually has some decent range. What you should really consider is the damage drop-off because of that range. And if you get within the effective range of Twins (or even closer), it's almost like it goes into overdrive, slapping your target to death. And the damage is rather decent, from what I've seen.

unless you are being overpowered by about 7 railguns on the other team (seriously even when I try to drift out of the way I still end up being hit somehow when they were not even aiming at me .when they were aiming about a mammoth away) even Viking+Fracture+DA its really hard to counter railguns unless you just give up and use just about the dirtiest trick in the book. Wasp+Freeze+Fracture+DA+DD . My god when I use XP and see a wasp freeze I simply tap 4 and hope that I will somehow out run it although I can sometimes just drop a mine and as soon as they get close start to run . But tbh the best counter attack against a railgunner is railgun if you know when to shoot . Like shooting just before the other one does so you flip them or make them go up a lot so that they are venerable to others for a few seconds while they reload

Simplicity isn't always a bad thing.

At a basic level, yes, but if you ever want to get anywhere you develop your own tactics.

Twins is strong in that it has clear strengths and weaknesses. You obviously can't snipe a Shaft with it, but get close and attack and he'll be helpless from the impact force.

Twins is the one turret I see (when hooked up to a Wasp) where a person can keep one hand on the space bar and the other controlling the tank.

Pretty effective for a simple non-turning turret tactic. I've even seen them at my level (Minotaur Kit) and they don't even turn the turret, just the whole tank and still make kills. If that isn't noobish, then I don't know what is. Maybe I will try that since it seems simple enough.

Can't do that with Firebird (you can, but...) because, unlike Twins, it has a limited amount of firing time and the reload takes even longer. So it takes calculation when and where to fire and then being aware of your surroundings to hide while you reload. Not easy if you are trying to survive and you don't have a shot for at least 9+ seconds. A little longer than Railgun but with very limited range.

LOL what kind of situations do you end up in where there are more than at least 2 Rails double-tapping you? Besides an XP/BP game? You may escape one blow but not the next, and that's understood...but that doesn't change my view that Rail is still no match for the majority of the other weapons in Tanki: Thunder; Twins; SMOKY; the list can go on. So it's not just Rail that can beat another Rail. It probably SEEMS that way because it's been drilled into the heads of a load of TO players. I actually did a Rail v Smoky post a few days ago against an XP Fanboy trashing him and anyone else who fantasizes XP with clear proof, common sense and ingenuity (see link that I provided). You can spend all night trying to convince me that Rail is unbeatable. Won't faze me.

1) you have no idea how many M0/M1 railguns I face normally in battles maybe its just the maps I play a lot of the time (Monte Carlo sometimes if I want to burn a few nitros . Sandbox . Pretty much anything that looks good at the moment ) I face a crap load of railguns all the time with it being the most popular turret in pretty much any map no matter what .I'm starting to face M2 railguns more often and they normally drug for no reason

2) I never said that the only thing that can beat rail is another rail Ifor one know that twins and Rico are a Huge enemy for railgunners and that smoky (when in the right hands) can be more effective against railgun then rico
