Ok, very generally:

Land is formed by tectonic activity over millions of years, leading to lots of different rocks. Some rock is more easily eroded, mainly of the sedimentary type, such as chalk, so this is eroded and forms the lowland areas. The harder rock doesn't erode as easily, so that becomes highlands. Shorter events like ice ages shape the landscape, especially in the north and west, creating valleys which today often have lakes and rivers in.

I'm sure this must have been taught in class for you to have homework on it, so perhaps in the future pay more attention and make better notes!

Dude, the answers simple:

Earthquakes are caused by tectonic plates. When they are pushed, they form highlands or mountainous areas, and the core of the earth sends an earthquake, causing us to feel a shaking movement from tectonic plates.

Lowlands are formed when tectonic plates are moving apartit causes separation which is why you have a lower land it is the opposite of having mountains.

2k please

Low land areas at formed the opposite of compression in tectonic plates, very little erosion.

The UK isn't near any plate boundaries, so tectonics don't have that much to do with it. Generally put, the glaciers in the last ice age formed a lot of the landscape as we know it today, such as the Lake District.

There we go, little hamster helping out with homework.

Hello Link. I wrote this with some help from Wikipedia.

The British Isles have many distinct highlands and lowlands. The highlands are situated mostly in the northern and northwestern parts like Scotland besides in northern Wales and NW-England (Lake District). The highlands are majorly formed due to geological processes like folding, faulting, continental collisions and other tectonic and volcanic activities. For example, Scotland's "Highland Boundary Fault" zone divides the Scottish highlands (which have the highest peak in UK, Ben Nevis) and the Scottish lowlands. The lowlands are confined to parts of England and eastern and southern regions. Lowlands are majorly formed due to erosion by river flow or glaciation. These include plains and coastal regions.

The British Isles were divided into two parts during the existence of the supercontinents Laurasia and Gondwana. Northern Scotland was in Laurasia while other fragments were in Gondwana near the Antarctic circle! Variation in physiography has been brought about by a mixture of geological and tectonic processes which have given rise to the topography we see today.

Hope this helps mate.
