Let's discuss CP battle mode (Capture Point)

With CP mode coming up recently in the news in Unity, I though we really should discuss how well or poorly the mode works.

 

The recent rating system made it quite clear that CP battles are the most productive map for funds, and Polygon is the map of choice, with Island and sandbox close behind.

 

In my opinion, the maps are too small for such a battle, I would much prefer a Hunger games style where the battle takes place more around the point, and the point is out in a no mans land. 

 

There is no current information on how the fund increases for point capture and how it is distributed between players engaged in capturing it for the team.

All I can say about CP (with three points or more only) is that it used to be my favourite mode by a long way until the Score Cap was introduced.

 

I have never really understood why multi-point CP was not more popular at higher ranks as there is so much going on that can involve all players - rather than the focus of a whole game on just a single flag. I didn't realise that the payout for CP was better than other modes - but just as well, because I prefer to join the losing side!

 

When I first got into this mode I could enjoy great games on a nice variety of small, medium and large maps at the very low ranks - though you still had to trawl the servers to find them.

 

The variety slowly disappeared up the ranks until Daily Missions were introduced.  Things had started to improve with Daily Missions until it was well and truly ruined for me with the Score Cap update. Now multi-point CP games finish before they really get going.  Hardly any 30 min games are created either.

 

As my favorite mode has been well and truly scuppered, I'm reduced to basically just completing Daily Missions these days - of which the tediously boring DM mode comes up way too often!

One point CP games produce more fund when the point is captured, less is produced when one is captured on say a three point map. I don't know why this is but that's why Polygon CP is the most popular. It makes the biggest funds by far.

Well... cp sure is overall very fun as most people just rush points and you don't see the strategical facepalms you see in ctfs.

Every time i see one of them: "go to point" comments on poly xp/bp i shed a tear of happiness... ;) its nice to see some rather simplel gameplay with skilled players. That's not to say teams with actual strategy don't dominate cps it just happens less often. 

 

Also if you happen to have good mid range combo, or titan smoky/vulcan or something like that people will fall like autumn leaves under your power. And it's the greatest of feelings ;)

I plaid cps with the minotaur kit for a good while and could earn over 1k experience in 15min battle. I completely understand why these battles get the love they do. However there sure is few things that could be fixed about this battlemode like the fact that the exp and crystals a person gets out of it swipes the floors with dm and tdm experience. I'm sure there are people who prefer the before mentioned battlemodes to cps, who would love such exp as ctfs and cps but cant get them becouse there is no flags/points to increase the experiences.

At one time DMs were the battle of choice when gaining experience was important, it guaranteed you a fund and moved you up in experience quickly.

After CPs were updated, they quickly gained the reputation of having the biggest funds in the game, Sad in a way that players were corralled into this format to grind endlessly, but I guess it does save CTFs from having so many mults and saboteurs.

Maybe , But i like CTF mode , when i cap flags..... , but CP mode good for Fire+hornet/wasp :)

Is the CP pot bigger, or is it just the constant stream of kills in Polygon CP with everyone piling in the centre or shooting from vantage points?

Can't think of any map & battle type wher the action is as nonstop

yes it is bigger than tdm

Each point neutralize and point capture adds adds 1/2 a kill of each player on opposing team so if it's 8 vs 8 each point cap adds 4 kills to your score

In a poly CP it could be easily 50% higher fund due to that.

CTF has a similar format with 1 kill for each player of opposing team but flag caps in CTF happen much less often and kills are nowhere as quickly as in CP batles

CP poly demands startegy and team colaboration :) RU teams are the best,with exception of one EU team :) no maps like 1 point maps..it's harder,much hader to keep the point then cap it :) intense battles..that's why I don't get why maps like parma or tribute for upcoming event made by tanki..that will be 10 times more boring then format battles (to watch)
