A guide to Hammer

Please note some of this has been said before, this article is made purely out of love for Hammer.

(And maybe boredom out of it being Saturday and YouTube refusing to work.)

First off, to those who come here wondering why we sometimes fire a shot at nothing.

Hammer has three shots before a reload is required, we like to have a full clip so that reloading isn't an issue.

So by firing off to the side or at a Wasp, we can have a full clip again soon and not be forced to reload in a firefight.

What to do:

Attack the weaker targets first.

Pick up DD, even though you strongly oppose the use of supplies.

Try to hit two targets or fire at a bunch of nearby targets.

What not to do:

Be reckless.

Try the same circle-n-strafe tactic Firebirds do.

Fire in midair, unless breaking a fall or very close to the ground.

Various combos:

Wasp-Hammer: Not all that effective, it might seem like a good idea but it's not, very unstable and prone to flipping. Just don't bother using the time to try it out, trust me, it's terrible.

Hornet-Hammer: The better of the two, might not flip AS much, but it will flip. Just try to be annoying, get in their face, run and shoot, never stay in place. Pretty much just be the Scout from TF2.

Viking-Hammer: HERE we go, this one is solid. It won't chase down targets, but you can easily attack the enemy base and support the flag runner.

Hunter-Hammer: This one is a stock combo, decent for getting used to the weapon while letting you live long enough to get some kills.

Dictator-Hammer: Worst looking combo in my opinion. I like to call this the "Gold-stealer". Not effective in combat but it is the tallest combo in the game.

Mammoth-Hammer: You are a wall. Nobody passes without permission.

Titan-Hammer: Perfect for the guy with infinite DA and Repair Kits, and a speed boost MIGHT come in handy.

Basic strategy: Go for targets in this order: Wasp, Hornet, Hunter, Viking, Dictator, Titan, Mammoth.

Never use a shot you won't need, like if he's going to jump a ramp. Flipping him would be fun, but not worth it if it won't kill him.

Support your teammates by weakening the larger targets, they're just going to absorb your shots if you take them one-on-one.

Good guide, I learnt a few things (tallest combo in the game) and it was interesting. At the moment, I'm thinking of buying Hammer m2, or Thunder m2. I also may buy Hunter or Dictator m2 along with the purchase; probably Hunter. Hammer sounds interesting, but I already have m2 Firebird, so I don't know if it is a good choice. Therefore, Thunder may go before Hammer; I do not have a long range turret at the moment. From what you say, Hunter/Hammer and Hornet/Hammer aren't the best combos, but if I do get it, those combos would be what I am using. Again, nice guide. :)

They're just not my cup of tea, the real beauty of Tanki is you don't take one person's advice on something. You can try it all you want, don't let my guide control your decision. I'll ask that you experiment with it should you purchase it, tell me what you think. And thank you for the feedback, much appreciated.

Yeah, no worries! By the way, I think I am going for Hammer over Thunder now. I have been noticing that people think it does better more often than not, as opposed to Thunder. I will probably be getting Hunter, too, so if I do pick Hammer, then I will tell you what I think (if I remember).
