Probably not, and I don't go to a public school, I go to a private school. You know, one of those schools that you have to pass a test to get into. You probably wouldn't know what that is, being home schooled you live under a rock

Resorting to insults, eh? Not a good way to debate. You don't even have a point here.

Typical "Press" member trying to show off again...yes they teach me much here more than they ever taught you in the 8 years it took you to complete high school.

Again with the insults... you really aren't making a good impression on me. Not that you care, of course.

Homeschooling is antisocial

Stereotype alert! Stereotype alert! This is one of the dumbest stereotypes ever, it is so annoying. I participate in multiple extracurricular activities, have many friends in real life, and enjoy participating in meaningful conversation with my friends and family.

Here are some social 'opportunities' for public schoolers:

1. Bullying! Yay! People insulting you, tearing you down, picking on you, and sometimes even worse! At least it prepares you for the real world though...

2. Sitting in the same room with someone you know. Oh wait - you can't talk to them, you're in class... guess you can't really get to know them.

3. Eating lunch with someone you know. Sure, this is good, but not really a great time to socialize, as you are eating - or should be, anyway.

4. The popular kids: Every school has 'em, the groups of kids who don't want outsiders, who do everything together. How does this help anyone socialize?

Lol so much has been going on here...I was reminded of logic questions, like: "spot the fallacy here" or "what is wrong with the reasoning in the above statement?"

Guys guys, you've got an interesting discussion going on here. But leave the insults out, that is no way to have a proper discussion. If anything, those insults and personal remarks make your arguments look weak.
Just to be clear: I'm not talking to anyone in particular, this is a general statement. If you have any problems with it, use the pm function.

Do my ears hear the glorious sound of an argument? I believe they do  :D.

Homeschooling isn't real schooling...it's doing like 2 hours of school then playing video games the rest of the day. My friend is homeschooled and he says that's all it is.

And your one homeschooler friend is exactly like the millions of other homeschoolers.... Oh wait. This is the main thing I hate about stereotypers, they assume that the small group of people they've encountered in their life are the majority, all the while forgetting that the world does not revolve around them and their minute circle of knowledge.

You tell me a story of a homeschooler who is now a druggy and a horrible person, and I'll tell you five stories about homeschoolers who are now successful. You tell me a story about a homeschooler who takes two hours for his school, and I'll tell you five stories about homeschoolers who take an entire day. I for one start at six AM and go till 3:30 PM, that's more than a 'normal' public or private schooler. And I forgot to mention my summer vacation this year, which is ONE WHOLE MONTH *faints at the length of vacation*. So in conclusion, you shouldn't be making rude stereotypes with extremely limited knowledge.

Is your home shown as a school on Google Maps? No. It is not.

Also, the site of a massacre near my hometown is not on Google maps, does that make it any less sad or real? Of course not. Google maps isn't the measuring stick for how famous something is. That post is just ignorant.

No, your home is not a school. A school has a school board. Does your home have a school board? No it does not. Your online network is a homeschool program. It does not make your home a school. And yes, I am on Google Maps, I was walking my dog when the Google car went by. I looked up my address a few months later and there I was.

Yay! We've established that homeschoolers don't have a 'real school'! Now what on earth did that just prove? I'm still attempting to fathom your strange arguing methods. You start by saying that homeschoolers don't have much work to do, and go on to say that they don't have a real school. Where exactly are you going with this?

Probably not, and I don't go to a public school, I go to a private school. You know, one of those schools that you have to pass a test to get into. You probably wouldn't know what that is, being home schooled you live under a rock

Incidentally, I have taken those 'normal' tests you mentioned, and scored way above average. All my siblings have also taken various tests and have scored higher than most 'normal' schoolers.

And please don't start insulting our intelligence. I've been to about twenty countries in my life, and I'm currently living oversees. Hardly what an ordinary person would call 'living under a rock'. But then again, what do I know... I'm just an ignorant homeschooler.

Wow, well one's character is equally as important as intellect, if not more so... for example, being respectful is a good trait to have!

Waw :o  :o  :o! cen i plz hav ur autograf famous person?

Typical "Press" member trying to show off again...yes they teach me much here more than they ever taught you in the 8 years it took you to complete high school.

Reverting to your default argument again: insults.... If you're going to post in my club, I'd ask you to conduct yourself in a better manner.

And why the hate against the press? Seriously, my every-other Saturday morning would be quite dull without the newspaper.

OK let me give you one big reason why public and private education is better than homeschooling: When one gets a job, it will most likely involve working with others. Homeschooling is antisocial and does not teach you how to work with other people, which will hurt you in the long run. If you do not know how to work with other people as an adult, how do you expect to get a job? Unless you are working as a mailman, work in the animal care field or service working field for the entirety of your adulthood, homeschooling isn't going to get you where you want to be.

Everyone brings this up as a 'foolproof argument against homeschooling'.

Again, I'll bring up examples from my own family, because we're pretty normal homeschoolers.

Sibling no1. A nurse in one of the leading hospitals in our town in America, also has a number of hobbies that keep her busy. Has loads of friends, despite the fact that she was a homeschooler all her life.

Sibling no2. Pretty much running the biggest tour company in a very famous place which I won't name for anonymities sake. He meets people literally every day, and has met bunches of the worlds leading actors, singer, politicians, etc. Has loads of friends, despite the fact that he was a homeschooler all his life.

Sibling no3. Stay-at-home mom, who does a bit of designing on the side. Has loads of friends, despite the fact that she was a homeschooler all her life.

Sibling no4. A teacher newly graduated from college. Has loads of friends, despite the fact that she was a homeschooler all her life.

Sibling no5. Still in college. Has loads of friends, despite the fact that he was a homeschooler all his life.

Me. Boring ol' Gnat  :P. Has no friends :'(. 4ever alone.  :(. (I believe I've listed my list of friends irl before in this topic, if you really wanted to, you could go back and find it)

Now, all my family, as you can see, have good jobs and friends. Not anti-social at all, tbh.... The first three are all married and have children, and 4 and 5 are in relationships (and again, I'm just boring ol' Gnat ).

Arguing with home-schooled kids is like arguing with a wall, no matter what you say, even if it makes sense, they will not even consider what you are saying.

I would consider what you said, if you didn't just restate the arguments of all the other homeschool haters in the world. Nothing new is ever said pretty much.

Thanks Cooper!  :)

Kudos to the Club you lot have going here, and do make sure to ignore the occasional bigotry from some of us school students!

Thanks for the support.

I'm gonna point out that homeschoolers have prejudice too though.... We generally think that our way is the best, and will vehemently attack the ignorant masses who do not agree. But I'm speaking from my own experience.

with the unfortunate exception of the presence of @Night-Sisters.

'Tis a pity indeed. We manage to survive even with her withering presence though.
