Lol funny question...

But if I may answer in a 'serious' fashion...

In my free time I'm usually training with the little bit of equipment I have; (I just figured out my Dad gave my Bowflex away to one of his friends while I was away...Haven't used it for a minute, but I had plans for it...) reading; drawing; in an antique store looking for stuff to re-sell; I guess I could throw playing video games in there as well...That's just some stuff.

I'm very engaged in Martial Arts; so I like to keep myself in shape. Especially my mid-section. Like Bruce Lee used to say: 'If you are not physically fit, you have no business doing any hard sparring.'

And a bowflex is a exercise apparatus...I actually had this particular model. Worked pretty nicely.

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you... Jk.

More seriously, we do similar stuff to humans, I enjoy Music (piano), Legos, Tanki, and reading. Oh, how I love reading. Especially fantasy.

Especially fantasy.

:D

have you read Mortal Engines? Or Redwall? Or Alex Rider? Or the Abhorsen series?

they're my four favourite series. :D

nice, I'm more into badminton and parkour, I've never really had the chance to learn any martial arts, and I don't think it's really suited to me very well.

Martial Arts don't suit everyone I suppose...But it'll be good to learn SOMETHING to defend yourself; be it the Knife; a Stick; a Gun; even the environment around you.

Well, I practice Ving Tsun (or Wing Chun; same art, just different way of saying it) myself, but I'd really like to get into the REAL Jeet Kune Do; the art Bruce Lee had devised, which isn't really a NEW art so to speak; but it's based off of Ving Tsun but has techniques (useful/practical) of many other arts put into it. Many would say that JKD is like the MMA of today but really now, MMA is nothing but the real potential of several martial arts watered down and limited with rules to be a "sport". In other words; bull.

If you've practiced other forms of Martial Arts before you came to Ving Tsun, that's actually pretty good...As you continue your training you'll understand how much more effective Ving Tsun is against some of those things you USED to practice. I see it a lot in the classes we have too...

Anyhow, I've been practicing Ving Tsun for about...9 years now, and I'm only on what's known to be 2nd Form. I dipped into 3rd Form just a tad, and backed off of it so that I can rehash my 1st and 2nd Forms; which all branch back and forth to each other. Really there is no "course" for the system, (Well, depending on who you're learning it from; that may be different, but traditionally there is no end) you just keep improving and evolving as you continue to practice. And personally, I think it's the best thing you can learn out there as far as hand-to-hand...It takes you away from the common practice of technique which is "robotic" in a sense (look at Karate and Tae Kwon Do for example; properly understood and practiced Ving Tsun breaks all of that stuff down because you don't work off of "If the guy does this, then you do such and such..."). Ving Tsun gives you principles and theories along with a few hands and the use of your feet that if you can apply those principles/theories in a fight, you should come out unscathed.

  • Some tips: DO NOT look to Youtube for the answers to this art. MOST guys on YT that "teach" this stuff BARELY know what the heck they're even doing.
  • Whenever you get some spare change, go shopping around in a Martial Arts supply store (if you can find one), or online (EverythingWingChun.com is a good one) for your wall bags, and some of the other apparatuses that'll help condition you.
  • Don't ever spar with anyone outside of your class. It won't do anything for you except stiffen you up; which you REALLY don't want. Ving Tsun is a RELAXED art. You rely on your inner strength as opposed to your external muscle.
  • Always keep your mind on what you're doing when you practice. It'll come to you quicker and more efficiently.
  • Your 1st Form should last you a full HOUR. It's going to take some time to get to that point, but you have to get there. Especially the 2nd part of the 1st Form. Go slow; it'll give you time to think about what you're doing; making sure your Horse Stance is proper;  hands are being led by the energy of your elbow; you're relaxed; etc...

OK I'm sorry, I had to go all in on this one...

wow, that was alot of info to take in from one post...

You're right about it being good to have at least some way of defending yourself, I am getting quite good at parkour so I'm ok at using my environment, be it to run away or just to avoid blows. And I always carry a swiss army knife with me, but I've never found any need to defend myself, I've never got into a fight or been alone in a place where it might be dangerous.

Hehe, and you think THAT's a lot? You should hear my Teacher...Class is 2 hours long; about half of that time (or even more) he's explaining/correcting/telling us about situations he was in where he had to use his Kung Fu.

Ya know that'd be amazing to see someone use Parkour skills to avoid being beaten to a pulp by someone...OK best Self defense right there! :D

And hey you're like me...I carry a pocket knife around with me all the time...Just in case I need to cut someone...

You'll never know when a situation will present itself...It could be in the oddest of places. I can tell you a number of times my Teacher was in an ORDINARY place and 1+ guys tried jumping him.

Btw sorry I didn't answer you in the EN2 lobby yk88; I was actually AFK. Packing up some more boxes.

Sorry for my inactivity guys. I've been busier with my school than I usually am. Even now, I only have enough time to say a few things.

Welcome back Judgement  :)! Glad you've decided to play again.

And Dragon (storms, not judgement) I'll put the chatzy room up, but I don't even know the password .

Now my mom just called to tell me to start packing the car for a trip. I'll talk more when I get to my destination.
