If we're on the topic of books, I'm currently reading Godel Escher Bach which I'd suggest if you're up for a brain-twisting, mathematically complex, non-fiction read. It's quite hard to describe what the book is about -- in fact, there's so much discussion about what the book is about that the current version of it comes with a twenty-something page prelogue with the author's take on what his book his about. The way I see it, each chapter represents a broad concept which is gradually exemplified in math, music and art. Throughout the book, the themes of the chapters intertwine.

If this sounds at all interesting give the first chapter or two a read and tell me what you think!

Never heard of it, it sounds interesting though.

I realized that I haven't actually filled out the application form . So here goes:

Age: 14 and a half (I'm very proud of that half  :P)

Real name (optional): Well, it is optional...

Whatever, my friends call me Nat. Hence killergNAT

Country: As I said to Ford on a different topic, I'm an American citizen living oversees currently running away from the CIA.

English level (1/10): Well, it's my first language, so like most Americans it's about 2/10.

Have you ever been banned?: Not yet .

Are you polite?: I try to be

Are you a homeschooler : My entire life so far.

Why do you want to join this club?: I made it. (duh)

Want to say a few words about yourself?: I like books, games, adventure, mud, soccer, and my school.

Thanks. I don't think the page set up is very good because I don't even have a logo yet.

It's uncluttered, which is refreshing.

^ this. You folks don't really need a logo.

Anyway, I should start getting homeschooled just so I can join this group :D

All seriousness aside, what kind of tests/curriculum do you have to follow when you're homsechooled? I'm sure the government doesn't just let you do whatever you want otherwise it would be used for truancy... but what exactly do they make you do?

Ok, if you think a better logo would be too much, I'll cancel my order.

As for what I actually do when I'm homeschooling, I just sit on my couch, no-lifing, playing Tanki, and eating chips. Whenever a government worker knocks on the door, my mom gives me a school book and I pretend to be studying furiously. On my tests, I look everything up on Wikipedia so I'll get 100%. Overall, it's pretty easy. You should really ask your mom if you could start.

Okay, seriously, I don't know exactly all the forms and things we have to fill out to get permission to homeschool (my mom and dad take care of all that). All I know is that we have to abide by all the South Caroline regulations of public schools (I think). Our family is part of a SC homeschool group, and to be in it we need proof of our grades, so my mom keeps tabs on all our tests and quizzes. Because of my parents job, we have a school who has given us amazing discounts on all their homeschool resources. Starting from grade 8 and up all the kids in our family have used the videos from that school. From Kindergarten to seventh grade, my mom teaches us. She's a great teacher, with about 30 years of homeschooling experience. I've gotten a better education from her than I could from any people who spent five years getting a teaching degree. So far, all the kids in our family who have graduated from college (4), have graduated with all A's.

Challange the low.rank player of your members with this id@ASIFMEHM00D

Sorry, but this club doesn't actually play against people. All it is, is a place where homeschoolers can get together and show how great we are (among other things). If the low-rankers wanna battle you, it's their choice, and they can send you a PM.

Actually if you're homeschooling... no matter what state you live in, you still have to go by the Government's standards of Education; for example, 180 days of class, testing every three years; 5th, 8th... I want to say 11th, but that's probably incorrect as I didn't take any tests until the end of 12th grade. But technically, we follow the same rules and regulations as a public school. Just because we school at home, it doesn't free us of prying eyes.

Curriculum is completely up to the parents. If they do want to use the school's textbooks, the school has to provide them free of charge.

You also have to provide a portfolio at the end of the year of your work. (Or you used to...they just changed that.)

Oh yeah, I left the curriculum part out... I saw truancy and my mind went to one place.

They changed that Portfolio deal? When did they put that into play?

This year, in PA. (I can't speak for anywhere else.) Hehe, you still have to make a Portfolio, but you don't actually have to send it into the school.  B)  B)

Aha okay I see, I believe here in Georgia my siblings still have to make one... I haven't been exactly active since I graduated. I helped around for a while until my Mother passed. Some time after(a year basically), my Step Mother came and picked up where my Mother left off. Not exactly a fan of how she does things so I tend to distance myself.
