[Issue 4] On Bias and Buyers (TWG)

Bias: prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

Buyer: Someone who buys crystals.

Tanki is a complex game. It has an extensive rank system, 31 ranks, each rank harder to achieve than the last. A large garage with 11 turrets, 7 hulls, and a lot of paints. The game releases updates what seems like every week, and there is a vlog every Friday. This is not cheap, it costs a great deal of money to keep the game up and running, much less updating. They also need a building to rent and use, this costs money. Money does not grow on trees, obviously. What supports this game? Buyers, the people who spend money for crystals, or those who buy a premium subscription. These are the people who keep the game up and running, and it makes logical sense that they get an advantage. Buyers are needed in the game, and without buyers, Tanki would not be the same nor would it exist.

And yet all the buyers get is dislike, they receive unjustified hate and the insesent calling of “Buyer Nug” “Buyer leave” and “Why you waste your money on this”. The feeling to call them buying noobs has a tendency to disappear knowing that they keep this great game up and running. Think of unhappy you are when a buyer comes in and causes a complete takeover, now triple that, at least, once you realize that Tanki will not continue to update, or heck, even running. That feeling of anger is starting to go away about me making a topic about how buyers are good, right? Think about it, you would be stuck in the same Tanki forever, and no new updates, sales, anything will be coming out. So yeah, think twice about calling a buyer a nug.

Conversely, it is okay to call anybody a nug if they really deserve, buyers and regulars alike. Because if they are running around with an m3 at m2 ranks, drugging constantly but never turning their turret, go ahead. In fact, I encourage this, as long as you pwn them with your superior turret turning skills.

Ergo, the whole point of buyers is to have an advantage in game, and to have perks that normal players can’t have, or it is harder to achieve, such as m4’s and kits. But honestly, they do deserve the advantage, they are using their money in a game, that is their choice, and they do not deserve to be ridiculed for it, save the above mentioned example.

Finally, I would like to point out that the large majority of people do not just game on their computers. Many people own video game consoles and a plethora of games for it, and some also have paid memberships so that they can play live with friends. Let us step back, an Xbox1 right now costs 349, and each game is about $60(usd) each. Multiply that by 5, $300. For a console and games. Total cost, a whopping $649. This is not even including live membership. Add a good 30 or so per month. Adds up doesn’t it. So 10 dollars in a game does not seem like that much of a hardship anymore, right? The point is, nobody bats an eye at somebody playing live on Halo or COD, that costing around $400, but somebody spends twenty or twenty-five on Tanki, we turn into a lynch mob.

In conclusion, I want to point out that Alternitivia Platforms is a for profit business, it needs money. The money comes from all of the buyers we disdain, hate, and have a bias towards buyers. We hate them. Why? Because we think that they are wasting their money, and doing something stupid for a free game. We are almost bigoted towards them. Yeah, that makes you feel bad huh. You are a bigot. Well yeah, think of how the buyers feel when every battle they go into they are persecuted due to their financial decisions. And yes, this is a bit hypocritical, as I have insulted and persecuted buyers, but hey, we all have to learn at some point or another. So think before you type in the phrase “buyer nug”, as those “nugs” are keeping the game up and running.

Yes. On my alt, I have a M2 combo. About 2 times I was called "buyer noob".

You can get the full gaming experience in console games without needing to shell out more money for $60. But in tanki, unless if you spend all your time no-lifing, you cannot get the full experience without buying. You can get only one m3 after paying $70. So, tanki turns out to be more expensive due to microtransactions.

True, but you are not including memberships for live, and the other games micro transactions. Also, in Tanki, you can save up before a sale or wait for a DD card. Both make the full cost less, maybe only 35-40 instead of 70.
