It'd be great if something like that exists, though it won't be easy. All players sometimes refresh their page when their internet is slow.

Forum achievements should imo be about the quality of the content that is posted.

This can 't be measured.

 

Quantity instead can be measured, but in my view is a pretty worthless number.

Reasons for that have already been stated, for example in @Issho_Fujitora post.

Achievements for forum that I suggest

 

Log in to the forum for the first time

(pretty basic)

 

Post an image in the POTD topic (people could just post a battle screenshot, like most others that do so right now)

 

Get 10 upvotes on the forum

Get 100 upvotes on the forum

Get 1000 upvotes on the forum

(People can cheat this too though.. but if the forum can detect upvotes from different IP address then it will help)

 

Get 1000 profile views

(Again with the IP mechanism if possible)

 

Make a "Hot" topic

(This requires like ~150 replies to a particular topic I think)

 

Play a Forum Game

(Pretty basic)

I've been thinking about that one as well. :) Players can again say you can use alts to finish that achievement, although you can also use alts to finish some of the existing achievements. I've been thinking about the following achievement regarding upvotes:

 

• get 'x' number of upvotes on a post/topic

  (5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200)

This way it's more difficult for players to get the achievement by using alts unless they want to spend hours to create alts. The quality of topics might hopefully slightly increase.

This IP mechanism sounds very interesting. This way, players are not able to upvote their own posts, to give themselves some extra profile views. Players can still go to a friend's house or to a Internet café, though I've thought about a possible solution for that problem. Once a player has logged on to a certain account on a certain IP, he can't upvote posts of other accounts that have been online on that same IP. I don't know if that's understandable. :p Thanks for thinking of more. :D

No need to turn the Forum into a game. The forum was created to discuss updates and problems players are facing.

I think you are forgetting the reason of existence for the Forum and the Community here.

It's not self-referential but it is to help people communicate on several aspects and issues of the game.

Plus, for the company it is also a means of positive feedback for the game itself.

(that means, the more people are reading the forum, the more this game is becoming familiar and desirable)

 

Instead of talking about forum rewards, why don't you deal with the forum's issues?

Just in case you ask, "and what are these issues?", here's a rough list:

1. The company is blatantly  absent from the Forum (at least the English one, can't speak for the others) and no serious and responsible answers are given to certain suggestions or complains.

2. Forum mods (Tanki staff in general), with very few exceptions, are not adequate to handle the issues that show up in different topics. They usually get away (or they think they do) with childish answers that are adjusted to 10 yo intelligence, or they hide behind the Wall of Rules.

3. Lack of standard measuring mechanisms like the downvote button, as well as rigged polls in regard to certain updates, only increase the fury of players and betray the company's real intentions.

 

The above short list is explaining the real cause for the decline of forum activity, at least on quality basis... Achievements, without first dealing with these issues will be a hollow trick to keep players in touch.

I've dealt with all issues on the forum during that time. I've quit the job because I haven't got time for it anymore. You clearly missed the topic I created about it.

Sorry from my side too for the defensive response. I think there's a difference between achievements and rewards: You don't get a reward for achieving a certain achievement. I don't completely understand what my idea has to do with the current issues. It's just an idea besides the current issues players are complaining about.

No, I agree with the simple way to just spam and get the achievements but you can make it separate from the normal Tanki achievements I guess... You can probably just separate it and make an achievement page on all forum profiles but then everyone will probably be spamming random stuff to get views, posts, etc.

No need, achievements don't gain you anything either way, and since most of the possible achievements can and probably lead to flood/spam problems, I rather not have it.

I've seen that as well, but the last achievement added is about getting 'x' number of upvotes on one and the same post/topic.
