[Issue 45] Surviving as a Pocket Isida

My days from Warrant Officer 1 to Captain have been spent as a pocket isida and it is not as bad as people make it seem. Especially a drugging isida  That sends chills down the enemies' spine.

I think it was a wrong idea of someone relatively inexperienced and low in rank to write about a turret that was already described and dissected in so many forum topics and Press articles. Most of the facts presented in your article are wrong - it's not true that isida's "solitary purpose is to heal one specific teammate"; isida is running a hospital in a battle, it's a bloodbath and it has to run left and right in order to help its team-mates, especially if only one player plays isida in a relatively big team. "Rarely does he kill any enemies, and he never captures flags" - again, not true; my DL ratio when I played isida was always bigger, since isida can be pretty OP as a fully upgraded M3, and there aren't many players who wear a paint against it. Plus there are isida players who are more interested to attack then to heal. Also, I know large amount of great isida players who are capturing flags on their own, rushing forward and healing themselves in the process by killing enemy players. And yeah, advices about "healing the leader" and "dropping mines" aren't useful at all for those who are playing in big maps without drugs, where they cannot and shouldn't focus on only one player (read the first part of my post).

There is no "proper" way to play isida - you can be a killer or a healer. You can rush around on wasp or protect the flag / capture points on titan. You'll camp behind a shaft or a vulcan in a base, or you'll throw yourself in the heat of the battle, protecting your team-mates while they are laying siege on opponent's base. Whatever you do, just make sure you're actually being a helpful and useful member of your team as isida. If you're not, you should better change your equipment...

In short, it would be nice if you wrote an article from a point of view of someone who is still testing isida, an article that would help players ranked lower than you to think about it and potentially choose it as their primary weapon; an article which would focus on what isida can and cannot do, and make it interesting for those who only just discovered the game.

This "guide" (if you can even call it that) is so low in quality it's not even funny. To be honest it looks like you wrote it the night before your article was due. The guide is full of mistakes as Ostrica has pointed out. You have barely presented any information at all, and your article is full of "no really" and "i never knew that" facts.

From the article:

"You will get at least a kill assist for every enemy that drives over your mine."

"If you zap an enemy you will get points, if you zap a damaged teammate you will receive at least a few points."

"The leader of your team achieved that position because he got lots of points."

Seriously? We aren't idiots. We know you get points when you destroy a tank. We know that the reason someone is topping the leaderboards is because they obtained lots of points. It really seems like you're just adding fluff and arbitrary facts to something that's supposed to be a guide. Telling us that you get points when someone drives over your mine doesn't make you a better pocket isida. It is completely irrelevant to the topic.

And then there is the underlying question: Why did you write a guide on a turret that has been covered so many times, especially since you didn't add any helpful information at all?

Overall this "guide" was full of crap and utterly useless information. Honestly, I liked your articles a long time ago, but recently the quality has just deteriorated so much. Please actually put effort into these articles.

Whenever I act as a pocket isida ( strictly a healer) I will usually try to stay behind whoever I am healing so I don't get damaged (unless it is a railgun or firebird or freeze attacking I have special tactics for those. For railgun I will simply run a distance away so I don't get hit by the railguns "Pearceing" ability and heal my teammate. For firebird I will help my teammate kill the firebird and then heal him before I run to the nearest repair box. For freeze I do the same thing as for firebird)

I was in a battle in Brest TDM a few days ago, and there were like 6 isidas. So basically anyone who wasnt isida was shaft or rail. Then those isidas wouldnt stop talking, making rules for their healing. They were doing stuff like not healling me when i was hit even if they were there because i wasnt their "Master" . They kept chatting out all these rules like "If your on your side and somone helps u up, he is your new master"  We lost the game and I was really getting angry at those isidas. Moral of the story: Dont get too caught up in the "pet isida" thing  :D  Looking back at it makes me laugh now . . .
