Downvotes for staff posts.

Recommended Posts

Since we cannot voice our displeasure publicly without them censoring everything and telling us to go to dead topics, how about a downvote button for their posts. It's the only way they will get it to their heads.

Why do you need a down vote button when you can post instead?. Down votes were removed so that people can't go and randomly down vote posts of those whom they don't like. With the new system, players are made to express their view.

Did you know we cannot reply to locked topics? The only time staff members reply is when they lock topics.

If you have complaints about a moderator's job feel free to discuss it with him privately, or if it's a more important issue, contact his administrator. Also you can send a PM to a moderator asking why exactly he closed this or that, or simply ask for explanations, but creating topics like this one surely won't be of any use.

Moreover, as answer for your idea-

There is no point of criticising anything that goes on in the game, its now pointless, the removal of the downvote button means its easier to ignore our opinion so nothing gets done, regardless of how bad an update or post is, it will not change, because there is nothing to express that agenda

In the past the downvote button gave a realistic view of how good or bad something is and things were actually done, how do you expect to correct those mistakes now you have removed the only essential thing that made change

Of course you can, you can contact  or @FederalBureauFBI - you can submit feedback in the correct places too.

And you could potentially discuss mods as long as its done in an appropriate manor.

Or get actually friendly mods that don`t censor our stuff for no reasons? Idk just an opinion

I think it's a behavioral mechanism - if they are too friendly or chatty, they'll continually be bugged by newbs, nosey people, people who like to chat a lot (but don't have anything to say), etc.  I suspect they would like to be left alone for the most part so they can focus on those who actually need help, for that matter.

I can always tell someone who is over-worked - they are brusque, don't say much, and ready to leave as soon as they arrive.

And what will you actually accomplish by downvoting? If they close any topic, or censor something it is because it broke the rules in some way. If you think your topic was closed wrongfully or you think they made any other wrong action there is always the option to consult it with moderator or his administrator.

You do have a point

But don`t newbs bother mods no matter what?

And can you explain a little more about noisy people bugging? Like spamming or breaking rules?

Also, in addition to what has been said above and as a reply to your concerns, @hhgb: we do not suggest to users to "go to dead topics" to discuss their arguments, we suggest to users to "go to the appropriate topics" to do so. Furthermore, in reply to "Did you know we cannot reply to locked topics? The only time staff members reply is when they lock topics" you can always contact the moderator who closed the topic and request that it is reopened if there is an misunderstanding and ultimately if you are unhappy with the decision you should contact a Forum Administrator.

You still need to learn that certain topics have been created to unify all the similar and related discussions happening over an argument since, as you are well aware, the Game Rules forbid to create a similar or identical topic that was already created: this is why you get redirected and your topic get closed or why some topics are merged straight after being made.

So, for example, if someone creates a topic speaking about our Forum and its Mods, trying to give well-explained and mannered arguments as well as detailed information over an issue, but that kind of topic already exists, you will get redirected there.

In conclusion, down votes were removed completely from the Forum during the past month, but I must inform you that down votes for Moderators were removed many months ago (probably more than a year ago) due to players abusing such feature to troll and annoy Moderators doing their job and applying the Game Rules.

I strongly suggest to everyone reading this to read the EULA and the Game rules one more time, deeply and carefully: doing this will surely clarify most of your doubts and, if you will still have any left, please do contact Moderators or Administrators.

Thanks for voicing your concern.  I can assure you that since the downvote button was removed the forum became much more lively, specially in the Developers' Information section where constructive feedback is needed way more than "how red a post/topic can get" with downvotes.  Contrary to what you think the downvotes was way easier for us to ignore back then since we observed a really bad trend of "viral downvoting" where peers will just downvote without reading or trying the update, and often come back later expressing that the update was actually not that bad and made sense and that they regret downvoting too quickly and were unable to change their vote.

Now its much easier, if you like a topic vote it, if you change your opinion, come back and retrieve your like, then post about why you don't like it and we'll consider that opinion instead of a red button.

Hope that makes sense :)
