On the subject of rigging the pitch, do you think it would be a good idea to always let the away team choose whether to bowl/bat first so they can take advantage of the rigged pitch more than the opposition?

Interesting concept, actually. I guess it would be a decent idea but most teams nowadays in test matches, if they win the toss, choose to bat first - it's to seem confident and to also capitalise on the pitch before it crumbles (which can benefit either way, really). Probably wouldn't agree though - I think it's a bit too big of an advantage and the logic is that the away team should be sufficiently prepped for the conditions.

Can we please just take a moment to acknowledge how much of a legend Renshaw is. He's played only a handful of shield games (state level for Australia) and debuted againsted Pakistan on pitches he'd never played on before and now he's touring India and he's made a 70 and a couple of 40's and 20's which is really good considering he's never played on pitches anything like India's.

Also, I'm really keen for Maxwell to make his mark. He really deserves a lucky break to do well here. Hopefully he'll do well in the ODIs as a mini pre-season for IPL where he's gonna captain KXIP.

ur right, renshaw absolute legend (who knows, might have another matty hayden when he begins to get more confidence in his game). maxi batting nicely, par score for the aussies probably around 300-350. how much better is yadav these days? wasn't this accurate a few years ago.

Wow, I'm really proud of Maxwell finally stepping up and batting really maturely. Hopefully he can cement a test spot soon if he keeps us this form. Smith and Maxi batting great so far.

monkeygate was worse

Just to clarify, Marc, this wasn't aimed at causing an argument at all. Should've specified that I meant it was worse in general, as in, disappointing for what's supposed to be a gentleman's game.

Which is why we're 2nd in ODI and Test? The 2 forms that actually have sledging in them.

On a positive note, Maxi finally hit a maiden test hundred, so excited for him. Smith's batting great. Maxwell got out to the worst Indian bowler right now, right after hitting his century. Indians salty as usual lol. At least in Australia when we have the home turf advantage, we make use of it.

Which is our weak format ... India should be winning considering they have the IPL which has a LOT more players than the BBL and gives them some easy candidates for the t20s.

marc just ignore sid lol

Lol, sid and Bill come up with the exact same negatives about Australia, at least Kuldeep has legitimate points. I hate it when people make allegations without having any solid points.

So you accept that Australian team do sledging..... Its just Australian team that spoiled the fun of gentlemen's game by introducing sledging in this beautiful and peaceful game....

Statistics don't prove anything. There are statistically good bowlers but that doesn't mean that they are actually good.

Not true. England ruined this as being a "gentlemen's game" right after the Bodyline incident took place. Bodyline completely ruined any hopes of cricket ending up being a super friendly sport.

Surely you can't blame Australia for everything, do you really want me to point out all the "un gentleman-like" things Kohli has done?

In my opinion, Jadeja is an overall pretty average bowler. I acknowledge that Ashwin is a bloody gun but Jadeja is just there on the other end, bowling stump to stump with minimal turn and basically bowls medium pacers and most of his wickets are when people try to slog him. I compare him to Ashwin because Dhoni made sure than Jadeja and Ashwin would have a place in his side since they played in CSK.

Ashwin got variations.

Jadeja is smart bowler who bowl wicket to wicket, which could be very useful of flat pitches like this.

So you should not compare them.

And also Jadeja is very good fielder, So overall he is valuable asset for India.

jadega doesn't turn much but yeah he bowls wicket to wicket as said above and furthermore he is also one of the best ones to go to when you want to finish off a few overs quickly ^^
