Well done for telling everyone on Tanki who will see your post your tactic.

Now probably all players will single you out and kill you now first after reading your post :D

That would be awesome if people actually paid that much attention to anything I said.

It is courteous not to kill. But when you get higher in the ranks you become more aggressive in taking golds and then killing happens when gold falls, it becomes an honor to be the one to take the gold because you survived the longest.

There is no such thing as a no kill rule, this stupid stipulation is often spread around when the gold warning goes off so that those players can steal away the gold from you, its a gesture of compassion and good will really, the goldbox itself is just a random bonus, i dont know why people complain when they know perfectly well everyone is going to fight over the goldbox, if they dont want to be killed they should just purchase some supplies

Aww nice! You use twins titan too? That's my favorite combo for gold box grabbing in Polygon CP!

You're quite mistaken there, firebird and rail are the masters when getting goldboxes

I usually find a perch and kill as many people as possible during the thirty seconds.

Same. The gold rush is the time for slower Medium hull users to troll those Xp/Bp guys and make them pay.

In my opinion, the gold box is an advanced part of psychological strategy and tactics. If you start to apply rules to it, then the potential for strategy is lost. This is especially relevant in team matches. If I find I cannot get the gold box (because my tank is too big and slow ), I stick with the plan my team has formulated, and stay on task.

There is also the basic point that to get a gold box drop, there has to a be a sizable battle fund. Some-one is going to be at the top of that list for rewards, so it is in your best interests to stop them.

I seldom kill during the wait. There is usually a lull in the battle, which I use to find the drop location. I will use my turret to bull my way to the middle of the drop point, usually not successfully. Most tanks have popped DA by this point so I'm still not killing.

Related question. Dropping a mine on the drop point... Ethical or no? I don't ever do this but see it every once in a while. My personal feeling is that all's fair in war.

I had to kill for my last gold box. I felt kinda bad as he was peacefully sitting alone on the spot where no one else thought to look, everyone scrounging elsewhere, the box dropping slowly to him... He never saw me coming.

I do that - especially on DD and Repair drop points.  :)

We use a mammoth/vulcan, so we are unlikely to get any golds but drop zones are normally in good range.

What are we supposed to do, go and get a cup of tea when there are kills to be made? If on CP, we can pick up some points, it's true.

We're not fast enough to get golds, so we may as well mix it up for everyone else.  It's quite fun to hose a drop zone with vulcan rain!

First question : No.

Second question : it depends. In Polygon, I don't kill. I only do if someone starts to shot me. Same for all map basically, Noise, Stadium, Station... In Arena, it's different. If I see an enemy Titan Rock Isida, I will kill him with my Rico. :P

I paid a bit more attention to this during gold box drops yesterday. There is more killing going on than I originally thought. While two-thirds of player search for the drop location, the remaining third continue firing. It's much less effective though since most tabks have DA on and are usually moving away from attackers, so there are fewer kills. Nonetheless the behavior of cease fire during drops is less observed than I originally thought.

Question: are you suggesting that there should be a rule of whether we should be allowed to kill other players and make it a bannable/warnable act to do so during gold box drop times? If so, you're out of your mind, @. People kill, people don't kill during gold box drop times. It's your decision and it should stay that way, because if it were considered sabotague not to kill the enemy during gold box drops or the contrary; was considered a bannable act to kill or attack an opponent/ally during a gold box drop, then people who did the other thing or sometimes did one, sometimes the other would get their choice taken out, and possibly gold box get chance taken away due to some idiotic rule that says they should not do that. And besides, why not just implement in the game mechanics that would allow/not allow players to do something instead of putting up a rule that could get you banned if you do the contrary... oh wait, it's just easier to put up a rule for the developers, nvm! :) (-.-)

I started this survey because I could see both sides of the issue and I was curious about how other players felt. I was rather surprised to see the opinions of those who said that not shooting during the drop constitutes sabotage/treason, but I see their point.

Based on what I've seen here, I've shifted my behavior toward shooting, but I still hardly ever get the Au box...

Enjoy your hunt for the elusive cube...
