I started this survey because I could see both sides of the issue and I was curious about how other players felt. I was rather surprised to see the opinions of those who said that not shooting during the drop constitutes sabotage/treason, but I see their point.

Based on what I've seen here, I've shifted my behavior toward shooting, but I still hardly ever get the Au box...

Enjoy your hunt for the elusive cube...

I usually try to keep peace when searching for the drop zone, because if i kill someone all their team kills me. When the gold starts to fall, I dont worry about killing at all, I shoot whoever gets in my way

The worst of people killing in golds is when there is a shaft who drugs a DD and keep sniping, and just so happens to get you. Like they aren't even going for it but they kill anyways... I understand killing and being killed if actually going for the gold, but when you kill and don't even make an attempt for it, it is downright annoying

Which makes it all the more fun, I aim for anyone with gold paint first, then maybe anything smaller if there is no gold paint to be seen. I don't usually play shaft, but when I do, gold box drops are always fun.

Killing  tanks is the fundamental part of Tanki. Do we all just want to drive around and say "Hi". The one thing that will make it fair for all gold box hunters is to stop marking the drop zone. This will make it more exiting, racing around trying to be in the right spot at the right time. Tankers will be more concerned with finding the gold this way, rather than killing.

Heh heh. Honestly, the only reason to scream "NO KILL!!" is because you wouldn't have a chance if sometanki fired a shot.

And to be just as honest, I pay close attention to who says that in battle. Then, if I see them, I destroy them first when the gold drops.

The made-up, sometimes-followed law of "No kill" during a Gold not only doesn't exist officialy, but is just bad for competition. If such a rule/mechanic did exist for this purpose, it would be awful. Drugging Mammoths/Titans would sit on the gold spot and anyone with a light hull wouldn't stand a chance unless they were lucky enough to get (and stay) on top of them.

Anytime someone screams at me for killing them during a Gold Box session, I just tell them to "Find the rule that says 'Killing while a Gold Box is dropping is forbidden' then report me if need be."

I used to fire only if fired upon, but found out that it is pointless since the tanks always drug and attack me. I have gotten two gold boxes in my entire Tanki career. The first came when I was a Sergeant-Major, and the second one came more recently when I was a First Lieutenant. I have learned that it is pointless to drug much even in the presence of gold boxes because I am unlikely going to get it and the costs of the drugs far outweigh how many gold boxes I get. Instead I use that time as an opportunity to kill a bunch of tanks with my Firebird M2 and increase my score, which gives me crystals.

Good choice. I only join the party when it 's one of those Gold boxes which droppoint is detected late by the other players.

If not it 's fire at will, capture whatever is there to capture or whatever I was planning/doing before the battle got interrupted

by the Goldbox signal.

In some occassions it even meant the difference between winning and loosing, so I rather choose those battlefund crystals

instead of the slim chance of getting the Goldbox crystals.

I ignore the main crowd (they usually head towards the middle) and look around the peripherals of the map for the drop zone. Worked out well for me a few times.

I usually don't kill unless it would increase my chances. You attacked me? You are dead. You and me are the only tankers nearby and you aren't on my team? You are dead if I think I can kill you. You are the only dictator among a crowd of Hornets? You are my first target.

Oh, this topic reminded me of the best gold box I've ever caught. Once a GB alarm went off in Polygon CP, but i was very low on HP. So then I tried shooting at everyone to get them to shoot ME, but out of ALL times, they just decided to leave me alone! When the gold box actually started dropping, somebody FINALLY killed me, right after this I was just simply hopeless. Somehow, I miraculously respawned right by the drop zone. (By the way, the drop zone in Polygon was where the red flag would've been in CTF mode, so that anybody on the white little house could simply drop off of there to take the gold). By this point, the gold was only worth the height of 3 stacked Dictators. As I was just sitting there, hopeless, I watched all of the tanks perched on this little-white-house go flying everywhere off of the edge, but none would take the gold. While this happened, my tank finished respawning, and at the last minute, I was glitched to the top of a Dictator driving towards the gold.

It was mine :3
