This update has created a DANGER for many younger players, it only makes it easier for people to take advantage of them. 

 

I can't count how many times people have been saved from scammers, pedophiles and other dishonest activites by the other users in the chat. Now those that troll the chats looking for victims, can do all this in private. We all know there are not anywhere close to enough mods to watch all the conversations and we don't even know if they can see the private ones. This is where the the rest of the community stepped in.  How can we help protect others now? I know that many MODS relied on help from regular players to draw their attention to such activities, now this is gone. Come on MODS speak up, you know this to be true. 

 

We have people trying to scam others into trading accounts or giving up their password and other personal information.

We have people looking to recruit new member for things like cults and religious / political groups. Again very bad.

Even worse, we have people looking for little boys and girls to lure into dangerous situations.

There is an endless list of things that can go wrong in chat rooms and you just gave these criminals the tools they needed.

 

Anyone that has children will see how dangerous this is and will want it removed ASAP.

 

Remove this update before something bad happens.

VERY VERY True. You have just bought out the biggest and the scariest flaw in this update. Firstly, I dislike this change myself. And now that I've read what you posted, I just realized how much of a threat it could be to others. There's no one now... to assist those helpless victims. Tanki, you got to change this.

some people use this to swap passwords,and go completely unnoticed,answer this Q

(some people have to take PRIVATE things which is why this update was created) so imo mods shouldnt be able to see other messages,but can they?

very true some one today ask me: where are you from ? u answer after that he said: which city ? i wont tell him but he stay saying come on no problem but i didn't tell him in the finish he got idea and that idea is: for 1,000,000 Dollar i didn't love him and i refused sure he won't give me monies cuz he said this in last the ask and no one for know what do we ask about!

i ask with some moderator today about if he see the private messages but that moderator said no the moderators can't see the private chat

so some one can give his password normally in the server normally

I like the feature and would like to suggest you to do the following  :P

 

- Replace "Write in chat" option with "Private Message". Will be easy for people to understand and use the feature.

 

- Add "Public/Normal Message" option or something like that. Sometimes we just may want to address people      publicly.

Firstly develpers should change it so that moderators and admins should be able to see private messages so that   they can bann players that are breaking the rules in private chat.

 

 

Secondly private chat should be an option, not be automatic private,

You are saying that the "privet message in chats" will bring harassment, sexuality, pedophiles, prostitution, and harmful activities in the game.  Tanki online  is a free online game and noting to do with the politics, people are not that dumb that they would tell their secret information to a stranger or a scammer. I'm worrying about you, who knows you would be the first victim, be smart. Yes, that could be possible with this update. And by the way, not all people are as smart as you think they are. You may be smart not to trust players on TO with your private information, passwords and so on but you are totally unaware of others that believe such scammers and easily fall into scary situations. I have lost numerous friends in that way.

That has nothing to do with this update, you have to write /vote <nickname> to report someone.

My humble opinion about this new update in chat is that it is not altogether a good thing. There has already been comments about the safety of the younger players, so I am not going to repeat them. Just saying that a best solution would be a choice between private private messages and puplic private discussions. Now it is more difficult to have more than two private conversations on. Also the chat lobby is now almost boring, there is not that much exchange of ideas, opinios etc flowing. It is mostly just "hi" etc. and of course the phising attempts.

Opinion:

Chat was the best platform to make friends. I play multiplayer games because I love to interact with people from different culture and I always appreciated the Tanki chat system. If something was really private, people will obviously won't say it where everyone can see it and of course, there are other ways to discuss something private on tanki.

 

Moreover, it was fun when we (friends) use to talk on the same server. You log in to tanki, look for your friends, see what they are talking about and join the conversation, now that was fun. Chat system was lively. I believe a forum is the best way to send private messages, or one can always create a 1 vs 1 battle and talk in private.

 

However, I like the part where we can talk to online friends without switching the servers.

 

Suggestion:

It would be great if a feature can be added where people can decide if they really want their messages to be private or not. This will make it easier for the player's to use the chat system the way they want. To make it more convenient, the private message's can be highlighted with Red (or any other color) and public message to be as usual green. This way the message receiver will know if the message is private or public.
