Private Messages in Chats

Tankers!

 

We've just made a major change to the way Tanki Online chats function — messages addressed to specific players have become private. This means they will only be visible to 2 people — the person sending the message, and the person receiving it.

 

The awesome news is that you don’t even need to be on the same server to exchange private messages as the system works across the entire cluster. The only requirement is that you and the person you are talking to are both online.

 

By default, you can send a private message to any tanker in the game. For those who don’t want to be bothered by players they don’t know, settings include the option to only allow private messages from players on your friends list. Of course, you can add any tanker to your blacklist.

 

We sincerely hope this feature will make chats a better place, with private messages becoming truly private, and public chats consisting primarily of information relevant to the majority of tankers.

Looking forward for this! Maybe add a tip during the loading, to not go to any links that are being sent with private chat? Because you know, scammers will use this to hide from moderators!

Surely been waiting for such a feature to pop up in the game!  ^_^ 

 

 

One more feature / option that could be

added to make the even better & useful!

 

Maybe add a 'in-game private' chat too; This will be able to transfer all the messages you get (while you are inside a battle), just like you would when someone writes something inside a battle. However, to 'make it stand out'; Maybe change the color of the text to a different one as it will be easy to spot the in-game messages, and the ones coming from someone who has messaged you while you were playing. It will work the exact same way as it will with the normal 'lobby-messages' but instead, you will also get messages in-game, if you're playing.  :blush:

I do not. Now players will be able to swear at other people easily and it willbe harder for moderators to ban them.

Then blacklist them. You do know how to blacklist, given you are a Generalissimo, correct?

If anything it will make the mod's jobs easier because they can monitor all the chats in one place. Just because regular players can't see private chat messages doesn't mean mods won't.

I like the basic idea, but I think it will have to be carefully monitored to prevent abuse.

 

Also, I would still like to have the ability to direct a message to a particular person in open chat, with the highlighting that the old system provides (provided?)

 

And while we're at it, I would like it if our own messages were highlighted in the open-chat window - although the eye is pretty good at recognizing one's own name, it would make it a little easier for those of us with short memories to recall what we had just said.
