^ Yes.

I mean, have the newspaper reporters seriously gotten so full of themselves that they go completely nuts when someone simply makes an article that's even similar to something that they did? C'mon, I think the reporters have forgotten that the purpose of the newspaper is solely entertainment, and think they are now in some sort of elite club whose main job it is to whip people into shape. What are you going to do, take them to court? Did you trademark this stuff? Are you the Fine brothers of the Tanki forums now?

The reporters repeatedly make "Caption This" contests, but they don't scream at each other every single time it gets re-done, but the minute someone else goes and does it, they lose their minds.

And the stupid chicken article, who cares?

So people go to the trouble of making articles about plagiarism but not about how gold boxes drop?

Or about whether our accounts will be transferred. *sigh*. I guess some people just don't know how to let it go (yes, that is a frozen reference).

That song is so annoying.

It might interest you to know that we ask permission to take over the contests - if we don't, we leave a message in their Skype (in the case of retired and inactive reporters).

why in the world would you do that if you're the ones who make them?

Oh my god. Contests are made by specific reporters, and when they're inactive and the contest falls into disuse, we request that reporter to give the contest a new life by hosting it personally. We have a code of honour too, you know :P

Again, I realize that some contests/articles are being plagiarized, but the reporters should call out those responsible instead of accusing TWG as a whole. You are destroying their reputation, when only 3-4 are responsible. Not to mention the fact that when Hero_no_1_unbeatable made two plagiarized articles and published them, he was not even a member!

"Code of Honor", "Reputation", why are these forums being taken so seriously? Y'all do know, whatever happens here may not even exist, say, 5 years from now, much less be remembered. This ain't the New York Times, this is a video game newspaper, in some forums somewhere. It all gets deleted eventually. All of it.

Perhaps unlike you, we care about honesty. We have moral values. And we certainly are guided by it in all our actions.

Perhaps you don't, and aren't. I could care less. Just make sure it doesn't affect me.

Its just a game you know, people should not be getting hot over people copying the news paper.

besides I find the content dry other than the good contests. but the idea of a newspaper is cool

This response perfectly proves my point, you are attempting to bring my real-life character into this nonsense. This is a game, my real life is irrelevant. I used to play this space RPG where people were so into the game, they would say that I was an evil person in real life for shooting their ships down in the game, you are behaving just like them.

Also, this thread is wrong on both counts, not only is this thread taking what actually happened and blowing it out of proportion, the newspaper reporters are trying to claim ownership of ideas, as opposed to word-for-word text, which under US copyright law(since we apparently are bringing real life into this nonsense), is not supposed to be possible. I seriously doubt these reporters are even the first to come up with a "caption contest", which, for all intents and purposes, is just a meme making contest, which I'm sure has been done before.

This is the precise reason the internet is currently burning the Fine Brothers at the stake right now, they took ideas that weren't even completely original, and tried to "own" them, and not allow others to use them, which is precisely what the reporters are attempting to do right now.

I could make my own captioning contest right now, and if you took me to court, first off, you would be laughed out the building for bringing up such a dumb case, and secondly, your arguments would hold zero credibility.

May I worship you and your almighty saint-hood. Or would it be considered blasphemy for such an unholy creature as myself to do such a thing?

^To be honest, who cares. These discussions are going round and around in circle, wasting peoples time and doing nothing. As for accusations of people not having a moral value there, mate. That's a bloody big call you're making there. Especially when you don't know them personally, right? Right. So maybe just think about that, okay?
