Tips for Competitive Railgun

Hello! These aren't game mechanics or anything but more of a lifestyle change and mindset when playing Railgun. They might be useful!

1. Railgun is a precise and sensitive weapon. Don't "brute force" it.

2. Remember that Railgun is fairly accurate at hitting targets.

3. You must be stable before firing a shot of you will miss your target.

4. Try not to fire on the move unless going in a straight line because you lose stability and it is easy for others to knock off your aim.

*5. Do not fire while accelerating or stopping because this decreases your stability and the auto-balance system will cause you to miss.

6. Move your turret to make small adjustments to your aim instead of moving the entire tank or you will overshoot your target and miss.

7. Don’t panic or it will cause you to rush a shot which decreases stability, accuracy, and your effective chance to hit.

8. Try not to switch your aim at the last second because your stability and accuracy will decrease and you won't have enough time to aim at the new target effectively.

9. Switching targets at the last second is a symptom of panicking.

10. Save and control your shots for when you need to shoot at something. (Especially when defending)

11. Make your judgement calls quickly and effectively when selecting and shooting targets to get the most out of your shot (either to help a teammate or to secure a kill).

12. Remember to coordinate with your teammates and focus fire to get the most damage and to finish a target.

12. Always have a goal and target in mind when on the battlefield because it increases your awareness and makes you more responsive to actions.

13. If you miss your target check your surroundings and move to a better position.

14. A good spot on the map is important because you can have the most influence on the outcome of the battle.

15. Try to eliminate threats to your position or you will be destroyed.

16. Try not to die because it causes you to lose effectiveness and waste time getting into a new position.

Good luck!

You can also use this to your advantage. Just like rocking the hull

I see some point's are good. But some like , don't accelerate while shooting. That's meaning less. i means bouncing your tank up and down is what makes railgun something fun to play with! Some point's are good where as others are meaningless

I was thinking the same thing, like spin-shots, those epic "shoot on the go" the the Gens. do and I try to do but fail :D

And do not fire at an enemy that is already engaged with a teammate. Trust your teammate. If anything, wait for that outcome before you fire. Your shot is a precious commodity since the reload time is the longest.

oye but lots of times its better to finish the enem tank before ur teammate dies...and rail doesnt have that long a reload imo

I was emphasizing your Rule #10, if not followed, would lead to the consequences of your Rule #15.

Also, if you time it right, you could shoot just a moment before the enemy, knock off his shot to save ur teammate

Tip number 4 is wrong

tip 5 is wrong

tip 8 is wrong for pro players

tip 9 is really wrong

tip 12 is the exact opposite of goldies tip

Trying to give further explanation to this pro player 's post:

Number 4: indeed wrong because if you have to stand still to shoot: you 've already lost...

Only times you have to be careful are when you are not touching the ground on a slope etc.

or when your Rail is completely perpendicular to your hull. Try to avoid this.

Number 5: wrong again. You often have to use this to your advantage, rocking/tipping

is a must know tactic to increase the limited angle of fire of your railgun.

Number 8: when you have gathered enough playtime on Railgun, you can use the delay between

pulling the trigger and the actual shot being fired, to change your aim on another opponent.

You can make spectacular shots this way, especially with Wasp/Rail using a combined fast turn

of hull and turret.

Number 9: happens often because your first target gets killed or is going to be killed by a fellow teamplayer.

In this case you are wasting one precious shot.

In many cases you were already in the proces of firing, so number 8 comes in to play.

Number 12: overkill is a complete waste of precious shots.

Many tips are way too concerned about balance/stability,

play in XP/BP 's and you 'll know it is only a minor concern.

(as long as your not playing in Massacre... ;) )

Actually emerald, that teaches tankers the wrong way to play. Maybe train your aiming with the tips but in gameplay against another player who has same rank and would not follow the tips i disqualified he would lose because he would be too slow
