This is very confusing, at first glance I would say Greek, but some of those characters look like they don't belong there. Specifically the up-side down four and the infinity symbol.

I think its a language from around this region

Nope. It isn't. Around this region you write Latin, expect to Ukraine and Bulgaria, where you write kind of cyrillic, Serbia, where you write both cyrillic and latin and Greece, where you write Greek letters. :o

fake language maybe?

I don't think that it's Greek. Greek is like this... αβκδεφγηξκλμνοπκρστύβωχυζ

I thought it might be Greek but with really terrible handwriting.

XD, and you seemed so sure too.

Anyways, if it's a code language, there are a few ways to figure out what the message says without the key, start by listing each letter by frequency, then take the most frequent letter, that's E. Fill in all the E's, now take the most frequent three letter word. Do they end in 'E'? Good, the word is most likely "the", if not it will likely be "are", figure out which, you now have two more letters figured out. The rest shouldn't be that hard.

If it's really important to you and you are willing to do the research, go to Omniglot and look at Language Index. There they have an alphabet listing of all the languages and some writing samples.
