Hey, Arnold!

I just wanted to discuss Hey Arnold, and where else to discuss it than Off-Topic? Hey Arnold was a show which aired from 1996-2004 on Nickelodeon and was fairly popular, with memorable characters. Personally, my favourite part of the show was the relationship between Arnold and Helga, and as the series progressed there were more and more episodes about the two. There were also episodes which developed side characters, which I thought added to the depth of the show and makes it memorable; the series doesn't only focus on a core of characters but expands is what I mean.

If anyone else has seen this series, what are your opinions on it? Do you feel as positively about the show as I, or do you think my views are stupid? If you haven't seen it but want to, then you can do watch the episodes here:

By the way, if you are watching it there, start from the bottom of the list so you can see the episodes in the correct order.

you should check it on YouTube

Is it the one about Arnold's grandparents being his actual parents and dodgy stuff like that? -_- That's not true, watch 'Parents Day' and 'The Journal'. They explain what happened to his parents...

I actually found the episodes which focused on Helga more interesting, as I find her more...complex than Arnold. I tend to like the ones where she has to stop herself revealing her secret, as those ones made me tense when I first saw them. The later episodes are more Helga-oriented, so I tend to enjoy them more. If you wanna see the later episodes in order then 'The Journal' is actually the last, and the movie is before 'April Fools Day' and 'The Journal' but after 'Timberly Loves Arnold/Eugene, Eugene'.

Yeah, it's sort of surprising Arnold never really caught on to it, especially when you see him not realise that this is the same person:

so true some men can be so blind when its right in front of them and for how many times she gave him hints and yet he took it for-granted she was just a mate..

Hehe. Well, I suppose that she didn't really want to be found out anyway; she was probably happy enough by the end anyway because that was the end of Arnold-Ruth...until Arnold-Lila of course, which was ironically Helga's fault.

Who wouldn't want to have their man to themself, it's just she was too shy to come out about it so naturally Arnold got other interests. Helga can only blame herself to be honest, although there's an episode which goes deep into her behaviour and why she keeps it hidden.

yea she was afraid of being rejected from him all girls feel this way ..its hard to see what another person is feeling when they have no clue what makes them tick ..we are not robots to be programmed to please each other ..this is  why people say there sole mates cause they work with each other giving them good vibes to bring out the best in the other person

in her case it was also the fear of loosing his friendship

I wouldn't exactly call them friends as such...Arnold doesn't like Helga because she's always mean to him, but he's just a positive guy so he doesn't fight back against her. She's his least favourite person though, and he constantly finds her an irritant.

well in the show she has a hard time showing her true feelings ..this is why she is acting like this ..

for him he is acting normal cause he is younger then her ( i think) also boys don't see girls the way girls see guys at there ages

this is also another reason why he has not figured it out yet..

Yeah, I know why she acts like she does, but I wouldn't think Arnold would consider Helga his friend--in his eyes she's just someone annoying who makes fun of his football head, although they get along at times.
