I feel bad.

Bad for my father, and his father, and his. I feel bad because they were amazing people... but I'm just me. I feel like i should be a someone, like they were.

My family was amazing. They lived through hard times and made the world a better place. And here I sit... behind an expensive computer screen wasting my time. Pampered and cared for.

My great great grandfather was a high ranked officer in the British army. He settled in India and was rich. He owned much land. When he passed away he left the land to his eldest son who was well-known as a religious man. He had many nick-names including the Priest and the Honest. He died young -while his eldest was only 8- on his deathbed he stated clearly whom his wealth and land should go to. Everyone knew that the majority of it would go to his eldest son... my grandfather. But when he finally did pass away, my grandfather (who was 8 at the time) did not get the land or wealth. His uncle stole it from the poor widow and her children. they grew up with nothing... He grew up to be an incredibly strong man, and he ran a corner shop to make his money. I have heard stories of young men trying to steal from the shop when my Grandfather came down and knocked them out with one punch; they always woke in the police station. He then took his money and bought house plots in Pakistan where the plots have been valuated at over £100,000 each. He gave them to his children who were raised in the UK. His son-in-law My father Is amazing... He took us to live in Egypt. A few years after that a war broke out in Egypt and my father risked his life once a week just to buy us food and water (the tap water was said to be dangerous) in his childhood he got into many fights and is nearly as strong s my grandfather was.

  And then me.

I don't know what I'm meant to be; strong, religious, successful...  I just want to be a good man. Not well known, not perfect. Just good. and I want you to be too. If you want the world to be a better place but you don't know where to start...

 Start with yourself.

This puts a lot of things in perspective. I will think about this the next time I feel like complaining about something trivial.

Cool, you made this topic and said I had no life by taking no information about me, wow.

British army?! Please no. But cool

He was talking of the British during their occupation of India, so please don't say "SWAT is better" or that kind of junk and you better keep quiet if you dunno about the Egyptian civil war either. -_- Edited by Zenyth

You are not what you were born, but what you have within yourself to be.

Hmm, where do I start?
My grandfather is an amazing man, still alive today. Even if he doesn't have the money, he'll give it to you, like magic. My great grandfather, well, I don't really know much about, besides for the fact that he also had some part in the army.
I don't consider myself to be wasting time, because I have a big part of what I want to be and do when I get older already planned out. I'm not saying that because I know what to do in the future, makes me not obligated to do anything now, but hey, it's better than doing nothing, I still work on myself.
But believe me, the time between your great great grandfather and now are a lot different. In those days, everyone walked down the street to milk that cow for breakfast. Now days, it's considered normal to be lazy. Believe me, in a century or so, the next generation will be talking about how we survived without transformations, while the century before us probably looked at the century before them as pretty tough people.
But in the end, take my word for it, even if it doesn't look like it, you will end up living with a happy family of your own, you don't have to be the man who owns the world, but yes, you have to the man that owns a life. So, start building one!

You're forgetting the fact that most of British Army was comprised of soldiers from colonial nations like India. In fact, my great-great grandfather served in the British Indian army in World War 2.
