Post here your issues with lags and server instability

In most cases the server slows down. The PING and PING loss is increasing heavily, but the customers' internet connection is the same. Maybe there are too much clouds around your server complex.

Clouds? That's a new one for me, although I'm admittedly no techie. Anyway, let's see how the client affects the game when it comes out, then we'll take it from there. We need to fix one thing at a time to understand the problem as a whole. As always, I'll keep you posted.

Well, whatever is happening now has made my battles totally unplayable. Everything is fine for a few minutes, then I either stop completely, or the screen goes dark (I'm still in the battle but can't play). There may be a prelude (huge ping spike, or controls stop working), or not. 

If you all are making some sort of big changes, be aware that under current conditions you are going to lose your customers long before any promised panacea comes out.

 

NOTE: Wouldn't you consider there is a serious server problem if I am on RU2 and it tries TWICE for 4 minutes each time and cannot connect me to the selected battle??

   If you go to the problems and solution area you can see how many issues we as players have been dealing with .. Its about time that these issues are seriously looked into .. Please stop adding upgrades and contest till there done..We appreciate the contests but every time you add things to the system its getting over loaded and we the players are forced to put up with lag and other issues ..

 

Now this will be my last time talking to you about these issues.....

I understand your frustration, we're aware of these issues, and we're trying to find a solution. But the solution isn't to stop development and activities everywhere else.

well if you go back to the v-log 3 http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=208406 you will see there talking about lag and instability then and who is the client and how much info go threw at one time .. well they said then they were working on it to improve the game play and still nothing has changed on our ends the players are still having issues ..

Sometimes it display ping 999 (mostly when gold drop) but actual ping is much less. All other tanks behave perfectly, destroying each other, capturing points, score and notification update but my tank wont damage anyother tank while i will be taking damage. Even if i activate supply it wont be activated. My tank passes through supply boxes and if my tank is destroyed , i wont respawn until about 30 swconds. All these things make it very hard to take gold box as it passes through me or i am unable to use repair kit. If it is cp battle i wont be able to capture point for sometime.

These are typical issues all games face. On our side, the new client, once a more polished version of it is available, will considerably help with the spikes during gold and normal load-up times. If problems persist then you'll know its due to line instability. Typically playing from wireless connections, or saturated connections with other users or active downloads, or just having a non-fiber optic connection will cause these issues.

Ok, so you want information of what's been going on?

 

This is the perfect topic to explain what's been going on with the server lags of late the past month or so?

 

Well then... here it goes!

 

Allow me to explain in full detail :)

 

(and I mean in FULL detail  ;))

 

Click on the spoiler below.. and be prepared for an extremely long, LONG post :D

 

Don't say I didn't warn you  ;)

 

 

 

We all are in the middle of a battle, a decent battle too, high fund and everything..

 

Then the next thing that happens is this:

 

It makes some weird noises (like a turret slightly turning kind of noise) then the next thing that happens that I (and I think that everyone else sees too) is that everyone is still in the battle, you can still move around and everything (like you would normally would do), but everyone else in that battle is not moving at all.. not moving their hulls at least. ( :huh:)  instead their turrets are just constantly turning and stuff.

 

Then moments after that occours, it simply just.. well.. goes off ._. and the only thing that I see then is just a black blank screen.. that's it, nothing else ._.

 

Now, the server that I find this problem happening on the most is server RU1 and sometimes server RU2 as well.. no other servers, just them two. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention EN2 sometimes has this "lag" problem as well.. but only rarely and sometimes.. but the lag problem and stuff happens mostly on RU1 + RU2.

 

It takes heaps load of refreshing to get back on the actual game, takes a good 5 minutes maxium (I think) to actually get back on the actual game and instead of putting us back into the battle that we got kicked out of to start with.. it instead loads us back into the lobby and says something like "the link of this battle is outdated" or something like that.

 

And whatever battle fund we made in that battle, (even if it's 10K+) we don't get nothing from it.. 0.. zilch :( all that time and effort into getting a decent fund like that was all for nothing.

 

This lag problem has been happening for weeks, hell.. maybe months now and it's so annoying and frustrating.

 

And I've experienced this problem many times.

 

Heck, I even experienced it 4 times yesterday alone in the space of 1 hour.. 1 hour! 3 games that I got kicked out of didn't really bother me because the fund wasn't really that high to be honest, or the game had barely started.

 

But one of the games that I unfairly got kicked out of yesterday was when I was in the middle of a very decent Courage XP/BP battle on RU1. I was on the winning team of a 16 flag limit game, the score was 8-8 and I was in 3rd place, the fund was 17K (or so) and I was only 100+ points behind the 2 people above me, so I was slowly reaching 1st place! and I'm sure we would have won, because at the start of the match, we were getting smashed 6-1.. but anyway.. that's not the point.

 

Then before I know it, the lag problem (that I explained above earlier) happened and in the end, none of us got a single crystal from the 17K+ fund ._. and I was so annoyed -____- very annoyed.

 

So yeah.. that's it. 

 

That's the "lag" problem that I've (and everyone else I think) have experienced this past month or so.

 

And the worst thing about it?

 

We haven't got a refund!

 

Not once! -.-

 

So Tanki, I plead with you.. like I've pleaded with no other game before.. if you could please.. please.. PLEASE sort out this issue ASAP, then.. well...

P.S, sometimes ping can just randomly shoot to sharpe 999 ping, (mostly when I'm in the process of slaughtering one of my enemies to pieces) then the battle just simply freezes, (turrets turning and all that rubbish) then seconds later everything returns to normal and the next thing that I know I find that I'm just respawning :mellow:

So, i'm keeping this thread open and changing the name slightly so it's more appropriate for the current scenario

 

As always, your report should contain as much detail as possible, including the nature of the issue, when and on which server it occurred, and any other details that you feel might be relevant. Remember, the more details you provide, the more you’ll be helping us resolve these issues in a timely manner.

I think it would be more helpfull to take some of the insights and add them to the thread that provides help for network based lag issues.

Then this long history here could be archived and a new thread concerning lag could be opened up.

Noone should be forced to read this long history concerning the particular event if he needs helo for lag related issues.

just my 5cents

If you look through "Problems and Solutions," a lot of Mac users are suffering from something saying "Plug-In Failed." It has something to do with Safari. Can you give us some details on that?

There are still some unexpected lags on RU1, probably due to an excessive amount of people being there. But, there should be a solution, instead of going to another server, especially as the majority of XP(/BP) games are found in RU1.

The suggestion is good, but I'm afraid people would ignore it completely.

No need for that, we already have the help site which includes several articles for fixing game issues. We don't need to open up a new thread either.. there is no need for a separate topic when you can use an already existing one for the exact same purpose, is there?

 

No one needs to read anything here; they're supposed to report lag issues, for reading/finding solution(s) they can visit the help site
